of having credits issued within 7-10 business days* of receiving the claim on tires deemed eligible
under ATA’s Limited Warranty Policy.
A sample of the Alliance Limited Warranty Claim Form is attached for your information. This form
supersedes all prior Alliance claim forms. Please use this form for all warranty tire claims. The new
procedure is:
Complete the claim form in entirety. Use additional tab for each claim tire.
1. Take the following required photos (.JPEG format 15mb or smaller – using a digital camera will
save the photos in this format) for each tire(s) claimed:
a. Picture of the whole tire,
b. Picture of the tread,
c. Picture of the serial number (and DOT if applicable),
d. Pictures of the areas of the condition including one of the inner liner at the damage area.
(Please note that a minimum of two (2) photos of the defect are required.)
2. Submit the completed claim form, photos, and invoice via email to [email protected] for
processing. If email is not possible, please fax completed claim form, photos, and invoice to
781-480-1059.
3. Acceptable invoices for credit determination per our warranty are the following:
a. Customer billing invoice or,
b. Alliance invoice.
Claim(s) submitted without appropriate invoice(s) will result in tire credit determination
based on manufactured date (serial number) rather than date of purchase.
4. Claims received in good order with the photos and invoice will be processed within 7-10
business days. Alliance will send either a “Credit Note or “Letter of Decline” acknowledging
disposition**.
5. Claims not received in good order will be delayed, and we will notify you of the deficiency in
documentation via email to resolve.
6. For questions regarding claims or claims processing, please contact: Rich Sergi, Warranty
Customer Service Manager @ 1-800-343-3276 Ext. 239.
*Credits on tires that are requested to be sent back to Quality Assurance Center by Alliance and
approved for coverage will be longer than 7-10 business days. Customer is responsible for
return freight and scrap charges on any returned tire that is declined for warranty consideration,
unless Alliance requested the tire back for analysis purposes.
**Compensation according to Alliance’s Limited Warranty shall be paid only in accordance with
Alliance’s Limited Warranty procedure and shall not under any circumstances exceed the tire
purchase price unless expressly authorized by Alliance Tire Americas, Inc.

2. WARRANTY CLAUSE FOR TIRES
2.1.
General standards
All Camoplast Solideal tires are designed and manufactured to carry the loads at
the appropriate speeds given in the ETRTO-standards.
An overview per size is given in the Camoplast Solideal leaflets.
Special attention should be paid to the footnotes, regarding mounting, speeds
and usage.
2.1.1. Mounting






Sizes of tire and rim should correspond to each other.
The sizes of the rim should correspond to the ETRTO-standards and
tolerances, the type should be flat base or split wheel for solid resilient tires.
The rim and the rings should be in good shape, without cracks, deformations
or excessive rust. Deformed or damaged parts should be replaced.
The rim load capacity should be equal to or exceed the tire load capacity.
All rings making part of the rim should be used.
Only trained people, using the right tooling, working in line with the general
and local safety regulations should do tire-fitting, according to the
Camoplast Solideal mounting recommendations
2.1.2. Speeds
2.1.2.1.
Maximum speeds
The maximum speed of the vehicle should not exceed the ETRTO values. They
are given for the unloaded vehicle.
2.1.2.2.
Average speeds
As industrial tires are designed for intermittent service only and limited running
distances, the working day average speed (WDAS) should not exceed 5 km/h at
an average load of 75 % of the maximum ETRTO load, this at an ambient
temperature of 20°C, for solid tires. For pneumatic tires the maximum
continuous average speed (WDAS) should not exceed 10 km/h at an average
load of 75 % of the maximum ETRTO-load.
For average loads, average speeds and ambient temperatures exceeding the
indicated values and for distances longer than 2 km per journey, the application
has to be investigated in detail by CS-ETC NV in order to check whether the tire
working temperature remains within acceptable and safe limits.
2.1.3. Usage
Normal and moderate use is considered as long as no foreign materials are
destroying the tire and as long as braking, accelerating and steering forces are
within the normal driving-conditions.
2.1.4. Ambient temperature
Solideal tires can operate at ambient temperatures from -30°C up to +50°C.
Higher ambient temperatures can however be allowed after a technical review
and a written acceptance of the application by CS-ETC NV. Tire parameters,
such as deformation and rolling resistance might be influenced accordingly.
2.1.5. Storage
Solideal tires have to be stored in a protected environment (a dark and dry place,
away from ozone), as specified in the ETRTO Recommendations.
2.1.6. Tire-fill
The warranty will become void for all tire-wheel assemblies filled with tire-fill,
unless the material and filling process have been approved by CS-ETC NV and
the filling has been done in line with the filling specifications from the tire-fill
supplier.
One should also consider that stresses on wheels and impacts on carcasses will
be intensified for tire-filled tires.
2.2.
Warranty clause
All Camoplast Solideal tires are guaranteed to be free from defects due to
materials or workmanship. This warranty remains valid for 5 years from the date
of manufacturing.
The validity of this guarantee depends on the tire type and on the conditions
described in the general standards:
a) for solid resilients: as long as the safety line, marked on the sidewall of the
tire by "60 J" is not reached.
b) for press-on solid tires: as long as one third of the total rubber height has not
been worn of (in other words, as long as 2/3rd of the rubber section height is
still available).
c) for pneumatic tires: as long as tread lugs are available in the center part of
the tire.
If the customer finds a failure to a tire, a demand for warranty claim adjustment
should be applied through the Intranet claim system, in order to make
examination by CS-ETC NV or a Camoplast Solideal affiliate possible.
Thermal explosions due to a WDAS above 2.5 km/h on budget solid tires
(Ecomatic and Ecomatic B2B) and 5 km/h on budget pneumatic tires (Solideal
ED) are not considered a manufacturing defect and are therefore not
warrantable.
If our analysis shows a tire has failed under this guarantee we will make an
allowance against the current list price towards the purchase of a new Camoplast
Solideal tire relative to the unused portion of the tread on the defective tire.
The cost of transportation, service and sales tax, already paid will be borne by
the owner of the tire making the claim.
This guarantee is for the exclusive benefit of the owner and this warranty is not
assignable.
Camoplast Solideal does not warrant against consequential or incidental damage
arising from defective tire, however all products are covered by a CDN 8 million
product liability policy for bodily injury, product damage and consequential
losses.
3. WARRANTY CLAUSE FOR WHEELS
3.1.
General standards
All Camoplast Solideal wheels are manufactured according to ETRTO-standards
and are designed to take the loads and pressures, equal to the ETRTO specifications of the tires, which are recommended to fit on the wheels.
3.1.1. Mounting









Size of tire and rim should correspond to each other.
The rim and rings should be in good shape and of the same brand
(Camoplast Solideal rims should only be used with Camoplast Solideal
components (side ring, lock ring and advance band))
Care should be taken to insure that the correct size and made of components
are used for that particular size of rim.
The complete set of components must be used in all assemblies.
Only trained people, using the right tooling, working in line with the general
and local safety regulations should do wheel-fitting, according to the
Camoplast Solideal mounting recommendations
The user should be sure that split wheels are correctly assembled, with
adapted high tensile bolts, nuts and spring washers.
Wheel studs must be correctly torqued and regularly inspected.
When removing a tire-split wheel assembly from a vehicle, the tire should be
deflated before loosening the wheel nuts.
Pressurizing a tire - wheel assembly should always be done in a protecting
cage using a remote pressure gage.
3.1.2. Speeds
The maximum speed of the vehicle should not exceed the ETRTO values. They
are given for the unloaded vehicle.
3.1.3. Usage
Deformations or fractures, due to abuse cannot be accepted as a warranty.
3.1.4. Storage
Camoplast Solideal wheels have to be stored in a protected environment,
avoiding exposure to humidity and weather conditions.
3.2.
Warranty clause
All Camoplast Solideal wheels are guaranteed to be free from defects due to
materials or workmanship. This guarantee remains valid for three years from the
day of manufacturing.
If the customer finds a failure to a wheel, a demand for warranty claim
adjustment should be applied through the Intranet claim system, in order to
make examination by CS-ETC NV or a Camoplast Solideal affiliate possible.
If our analysis shows a wheel has failed under this guarantee we will make an
allowance against the current list price towards purchase of a new Camoplast
Solideal wheel.
The cost of transportation, service and sales tax, already paid will be borne by
the owner of the wheel making the claim. This guarantee is for the exclusive
benefit of the owner and this warranty is not assignable.
Camoplast Solideal does not warrant against consequential or incidental damage
arising from defective wheels, however all products are covered by a CDN 8
million product liability policy for bodily injury, product damage and
consequential losses.

an equivalent new Firestone tire on the basis set forth in
the section titled “Limited Warranty Period and Pro Rata
Percentages” on the following page. Some examples of
causes or conditions normally beyond the manufacturer’s
control are:

PERFORMANCE REMINDER
Overloading and incorrect air pressure are two of the greatest causes of
premature tire removal. For the best performance possible, select the proper
design, size and ply-rated tires for your equipment and operate the tires at
the inflation pressure required to carry the working load. Detailed load and
inflation tables are included in the Firestone Farm Tire Data Book and at
FirestoneAg.com.
PROPER TIRE SIZES
Tire sizes and ratings are dictated by vehicle geometry, weight and power.
Before changing tire sizes, be sure to check with the equipment manufacturer
or dealer. Tire measurements and load-carrying capacities for all Firestone
agricultural tires are shown in the Firestone Farm Tire Data Book and at
FirestoneAg.com. These measurements are especially important when
matching front and rear sizes.

PERFORMANCE REMINDER
Overloading and incorrect air pressure are two of the greatest
causes of premature tire removal. For the best performance
possible, select the proper design, size and ply-rated tires for
your equipment and operate the tires at the inflation pressure
required to carry the working load. Detailed load and inflation
tables are included in the Firestone Farm Tire Data Book.
PROPER TIRE SIZES
Tire sizes and ratings are dictated by vehicle geometry, weight
and power. Before changing tire sizes, be sure to check with the
equipment manufacturer or dealer Tire measurements and loadcarrying capacities for all Firestone agricultural tires are shown
in the Firestone Farm Tire Data Book. These measurements are
especially important when matching front and rear sizes.

LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD AND PRO RATA PERCENTAGES
If BATO determines a Covered Rubber Track is unusable
due to a condition covered by the Limited Warranty
during Service Months (as defined on the following page)
0 through 12 and Service Hours 0 through 1,000 and with a
Tread Wear Rate (as defined on the following page) of less
than 20%, the Covered Rubber Track shall be replaced,
without charge, by a new Firestone-branded Agricultural
Rubber Track.
If BATO determines the Covered Rubber Track is unusable
due to a condition covered by the Limited Warranty after
the 12th Service Month, the 1,000th Service Hour or after
the Tread Wear Rate is greater than 20%, such Covered
Rubber Track shall be eligible for replacement with a new
Firestone-branded Agricultural Rubber Track at a prorated purchase price calculated by the customer’s normal
buying price multiplied by the Pro Rata Percentage in
the table on the following page. The Pro Rata Collection
Percentage shall be determined using the Service

Coverage D: 90-DAY SATISFACTION PROMISE
If for any reason, the original purchaser of a Covered Tire is
not completely satisfied, the Covered Tire may be returned
to the selling dealer within 90 days of purchase for a refund
of the full purchase price of the Covered Tire. Covered Tires
that become unserviceable during the 90-day period are
covered by the limited warranty and are ineligible for
replacement under this satisfaction promise. Mounting and
demounting charges, other dealer services and applicable
taxes are the responsibility of the original purchaser. The
original purchase invoice must accompany any claim.
SAFETY/MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
Read the safety warning portion and the maintenance
recommendations in the current MICHELIN Agricultural
Tire Data Book (available online at Michelinag.com), the
information on the sidewall of your tires, your vehicle
owner’s manual, and the inflation information in the
appropriate data book for essential safety and maintenance
information.
WARNING – SERIOUS INJURY OR
DEATH MAY RESULT FROM:
• Explosion of the tire/rim/wheel
assembly due to improper mounting.
Only specially trained persons should
mount tires. Use a safety cage while inflating the tires. In
the absence of a safety cage, stand to one side of the tire.
Use an airline with a clip-on chuck and an in-line gauge
that is at least 6 feet from the tire valve. Avoid standing
directly in front of the tire or over the tire; always stand
to one side. Never inflate an agricultural tire over 35 psi
(2.4 bar) to seat the beads.
• Tire failure due to misapplication, improper inflation,
overloading, or exceeding maximum speed. Follow
tire and equipment manufacturer’s instructions. Check
inflation pressure frequently with an accurate gauge,
when the tire is cold.
• Explosion of the tire/rim/wheel assembly due to welding
the rim without first removing the tire.
• Re-inflation of a tire that has been run in an underinflated or run-flat condition.
WARNING! Tire changing can be dangerous and should be
done by trained personnel using proper tools and procedures.
Always read and understand any manufacturer’s warning
contained in manufacturer’s literature, website or molded into
the tire sidewall.

MICHELIN®/KLÉBER® AGRICULTURAL
TIRES MANUFACTURER’S LIMITED
WARRANTY
This warranty also includes Kléber® tubes.
ABOUT THIS WARRANTY
As the owner of MICHELIN® or Kléber® Agricultural tires
(hereafter “Covered Tires”), you have all the benefits
subject to all the conditions contained herein in the
following limited warranty, provided you have complied
with the technical and maintenance recommendations and
the safety warnings contained in the current MICHELIN®
Agricultural Tire Data Book, Part Number MUT41305
(hereafter referred to as “Data Book” available online at
Michelinag.com). It is essential that you carefully read and
understand the safety and maintenance recommendations
contained in the data book before putting your tires into
service. For additional information about Covered Tires,
consult any participating MICHELIN Agricultural Tire
Retailer, or refer to the Data Book pertaining to the product
in use. Michelin North America, Inc. (hereafter “MNA”) or
Michelin North America (Canada) inc. (hereafter “MNAC”)
as applicable, is the processor of warranty claims for
MICHELIN and Kléber Agricultural tires and Kléber® tubes.
WHO IS COVERED
The original purchaser of new Covered Tires, which bear
a MICHELIN or Kléber serial number, and which were
purchased on or after March 1, 2013, is covered by the
terms and conditions of this limited warranty. Date of
purchase is documented by a new equipment sales invoice
or by a new tire sales invoice. This limited warranty applies
only to tires sold and used in the United States of America
and Canada. If proof of purchase is not available, the age
of the tire is determined from date of manufacture.
WHAT IS COVERED, AND FOR HOW LONG
Tires used on the machine on which they were originally
fitted are covered on a pro rata basis against one or more
of the following as outlined below:
Coverage A: Conditions in workmanship and materials
for a period of nine (9) years See tables 1
and 2 under Coverage A.
Coverage A-1: Limited scraper application coverage for
a period of four (4) years. See table 3
under Coverage A-1.
Coverage C: Stubble damage for a period of three
(3) years. See table 6 under Coverage C.
Coverage C-1: Stubble Damage for a period of four (4)
years for tire stamped with Stubble Shield.
See table 7 under Coverage C-1.
Coverage D: 90-DAY SATISFACTION PROMISE
MICHELIN/Kléber drive tires used in normal agricultural
service are included in Coverage A, C and D.
A tire covered by this limited warranty that becomes
unserviceable (i.e., cannot be repaired using industry-wide
accepted repair procedures and materials and returned to
service) due to a workmanship/materials condition or
stubble damage, will be replaced with a comparable new
MICHELIN /Kléber Agricultural tire under the terms of this
warranty.
HOW REPLACEMENT CHARGES ARE CALCULATED
The respective tables, A or C are used to determine the
percent of charge, based upon the tire age. Consumer
charges are calculated as the percentage from the table
multiplied by the “current retail selling price” of the new
tire at the time of replacement. Mounting and field service
charges are paid by MNA, only for Coverage A, workmanship
and materials, “No Charge” replacements. The consumer is
responsible for all other mounting and field service charges
including any and all applicable taxes. The replacement
charge, if any, will be based on the condition of the tire as
assessed by the MICHELIN/Klebér Agricultural Sales Retailer
who inspects the tire.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED
Loss of time, inconvenience, loss of use of machine or
consequential damages; ozone or weather cracking that
does not render the tire unserviceable; tires that become
unserviceable due to:
• machine damage, machine accident/collision, chemical
corrosion, mis-mounting (except OEM mismount), fire,
lightning or contact with electrical power lines, underinflation, over-inflation, overload, misapplication, misuse,
neglect, operation at excessive speed; broken or
damaged beads or any damage due to improper
installation, rim or chain damage, and/or mechanical
condition of the machine;
• tires used with improper tubes or O-rings;
• damage by non-agricultural uses such as tractor pulls
and/or improper applications such as when the size and
load range of the tire are not equivalent to or less than
the equipment manufacturer’s specifications;
• failure due to the addition of tire fillers, sealants,
balancing substances, ballast, etc.;
• improper repair;
• wheel misalignment;
• tires that can be repaired using industry-wide accepted
repair procedures and materials, and returned to service.
Note: If there is a warranty claim on a tire previously
replaced under warranty, the date of the claim will revert
to the original claim date.
WHAT THE OWNER MUST DO
The owner must present the Covered Tire to an authorized
MICHELIN® Agricultural Tire Retailer.
A MICHELIN Claim Form must be completed, signed and
accompanied by a copy of proof of purchase of either the
Covered Tire or the equipment on which the Covered Tire
was mounted by its manufacturer.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED
This limited warranty applies to conditions in workmanship
and materials and does not cover tires that are rendered
unserviceable from poor maintenance or improper use.
Specifically, the following are not covered: Tire failure due
to overload; Tire failure due to operating with full power at
speeds under 4 mph (6.5 km/h); Rim slip or bead leakage
due to undersized rims, deteriorated rims, or mis-mounting;
Lug deterioration due to excessive cutting; Tire failure due
to the use of incorrect inflation pressure. (See the following

manufacturer’s recommended tire sizes for scraper
operations or apply the following rule: Max tire load
capacity at max tractor speed must be greater than the
max load expected on any tire at any given time during
the scraping operation. When used in duals, the tire
load capacity must be reduced by 12%.
3. Articulated 4WD tractors should be ballasted with cast
iron weights so that 65-70% or more of the total static
weight of the tractor is on the front axle (without the
scraper attached). No rear ballast is recommended,
as loading of the scraper will provide all the rear
axle weight required. Liquid fill inside the tires is not
recommended for use as ballast.
4. MFWA tractors should be ballasted on the front of the
machine with the maximum amount of cast weight
recommended by the manufacturer. Follow tractor
manufacturer’s recommendation for rear axle ballast.
Liquid fill inside the tires is not recommended for use
as ballast.
5. Determine maximum front tire load at maximum speed
and set tire pressures according to the Michelin Data
Book specifications. The front axle must be weighed
without the scraper attached, in order to make this
determination.

THE RETAILER’S RESPONSIBILITIES
• Michelin will accept the Retailer’s judgment as
long as it is reasonable.
• The Retailer should ask himself the following
questions:
– Can the tire be repaired successfully?
– What is reasonable and fair?
• Obtain the consumer's purchase invoice.
• Determine if the age of the tire falls within the
limited warranty period.
• Inspect the tire to determine if it is covered under
limited warranty. (See below.)
• If covered, prepare a claim form. See Page 4-5
and 7 for more instructions.
• Finalize the limited warranty transaction with the
Consumer.
• Give the blue copy of claim form to the
Consumer, signed and dated by the Consumer
and the Retailer.
What If The Repair Fails Later?
• If an authorized Retailer repairs the tire in
accordance with the repair material
manufacturer’s specifications, and this repair
fails at a later point in time . . .
• The warranty will be honored at the time that
the repair fails.
Inspecting The Tire
•
•
•
•
Dismount the tire or tube .
Thoroughly inspect inside and outside of the tire.
Mark the damage clearly.
Use the “Tire Inspection Codes” (Pages 12 and 13)
to determine if the tire is covered under the
limited warranty.
What Is Not Covered: Examples
• Damage from contact with machine or implement.
• Rubber cut only, no penetration through the
carcass.
• Rubber erosion from stubble, no exposed cord.
• Rapid or irregular wear.
• Ozone or weather cracking that does not render
the tire unserviceable.
• Foreign material damage of tube or liner.
• Circumferential split in the sidewall due to
overload or under-inflation.
• Creases in the sidewall due to excessive torque
and under-inflation.
• Rim slip.
• Lack of traction.
• Bead wear due to improper seating or foreign
material between bead and flange.
• Bead damage caused during mounting
(except OEM, as discussed in the “Retailers
Responsibilities In Preparing the Claim Form”
on Pages 4 and 5).
• Vehicle misalignment.
• NOTE 1: Field Hazard Warranty not applicable
to tires purchased after 1 January 2009.
• NOTE 2: A tire returned for damage to the
bead which was caused during mounting or
dismounting is disqualified..

Code 638
– Tube:
Code 026

Code 138,
– Stubble damage in sidewall, Claim Type C,
Code 45F.
• Please see the “Tire Inspection Codes” for
complete details on Pages 12 and 13.
• Excessive field hazard claims will be investigated.
Questions or Issues?
• Please call MICHELIN Consumer Care if you have
any questions or issues concerning limited
warranties or claims.
• A team of qualified professionals is standing by
from 8:30 am until 6:00 pm Eastern Time, Monday
through Friday at 1-888-552-1213.
So What Is Repairable?
• Michelin encourages repair to damage which falls
within the tolerances of the repair procedures
and resources which are readily available within
the tire industry.
• Ultimately, the decision to repair or not must be
made by the Retailer.

• Verifies all items are present per “Bill Of Lading”.
• Inspects tires within 3 days after receipt.
• Reviews claim forms to ensure...
– required signatures are present,
– inspection codes are correct,
– remaining tread depth is correct,
– tire is covered under limited warranty.
RETURNING NEW, UNSALEABLE PARTS
• New, unmounted tires or tubes which cannot be
sold due to a workmanship or material condition
should be returned on a warranty claim as “New
Goods”.
• Enter inspection code or reason on claim form.
• Name of Owner would be the MNA Distributor
making the claim.
• No owner's signature is required for this type of
claim.
• Clearly mark condition for which tire or tube is
being returned.
• Tires received at MATIC with a warranty claim for
freight damage will be rejected.
CARRIER DAMAGE POLICY
8. Fax the completed form along with the signed
Bill of Lading to (888) 847-3911.
9. Michelin will issue a credit to the MICHELIN Ag
distributor for the damaged product.
Following is the procedure to address damage to
tires or tubes discovered upon delivery of a direct
shipment from the MICHELIN agricultural
warehouse.
1. Before signing for a direct shipment, carefully
inspect all tires and tubes. Damaged product
should be refused.
2. Indicate on the Bill of Lading the following:
part number (MSPN) damaged,
quantity damaged and refused,
damaged condition,
“Delivery Refused”.
These notations must be made before removing
any carbon copies from the Bill of Lading and
before any signatures are made on the document.
3. Obtain the carrier driver’s signature on the Bill of
Lading.
4. Sign the Bill of Lading.
5. Remove your carbon copy from the Bill of Lading.
6. Complete the MICHELIN Over/Short/Damaged/
Mislabeled Product (OS&D) Form (available
through Bibnet or may be faxed by MICHELIN
Customer Service).
7. Indicate on the OS&D Form if a replacement is
requested.
If the damaged tire can be repaired and the
customer wishes to keep the tire:
1. The dealer will contact the MICHELIN ASDM for
inspection and authorization to repair the
damages on the MICHELIN AG tire.
2. The dealer/distributor will submit an OS&D form
and Bill of Lading where the tire was noted as
damaged. Whenever possible, a digital
photograph should also be provided.
3. MICHELIN ASDM will confirm the charges and the
carrier’s responsibility for the damages via email
to MICHELIN Order Delivery Specialist team.
4. The dealer will be credited for repair charges.
5. The carrier will be debited for repair charges.
This allows the dealer to keep a tire, which might
otherwise be difficult to obtain, and allows the
carrier to pay for repair charges, vs. the cost of the
tire.
DAMAGE / INJURY CLAIMS
• If a tire came out of service and allegedly caused
vehicle damage or personal injury, the tire could
become part of a product liability claim.
• Do not provide any warranty service for this tire.
• Have the consumer retain the tire.
• Gather basic information only: name, address,
where incident occurred, etc.
• Contact your MICHELIN ASDM.

CALCULATING CREDITS
It is important that the MNA Distributors know
how much credit to give to the Retailer prior to
receiving his credit from Michelin.
It is important that the MNA Distributor know how
much credit to expect from Michelin.
Please see the “Credit Calculation Results” below
and the “Limited Warranty Credit Example
Calculation” on Page 19.
But, How Can This Be?
How can the amount which Michelin credits back to
the MNA Distributor be less than the amount the
MNA Distributor should credit to the Retailer?
Examine Who Got What?
• Let's make an assumption...that the $27.00
Handling Allowance which the MNA Distributor
receives; and the $27.00 the Retailer receives from
Michelin just covers their administration, handling,
transportation and storage expenses.
• So we will check these items off and continue.
• First, the MNA Distributor makes $200.00 when he
sells the tire to the Retailer for the limited
warranty replacement ($1300.00 - $1100.00).
• He credits the Retailer for satisfying the limited
warranty claim (MNA Distributor is now $300.00 in
the hole).
• Then the MNA Distributor receives a $354.00 credit
from Michelin (now he's even).
Credit Calculation Exercise
• Using the “Limited Warranty Credit Worksheet”
on Page 19,
– determine Michelin's credit to the MNA
Distributors and,
– determine the MNA Distributor’s credit to the
Retailer.
• Note item numbers in left-hand column.
• Note explanations in right-hand column.
Credit Calculation Results*
But What About The Retailer?
Today is 1 August 2008 and you (Ag Tires, Inc.) have
just completed a warranty transaction with one of
your best customers, Bill Smith. You have just finished
filling out the MNA Agricultural Tire Limited Warranty
Claim Form, which is numbered AG2147806.
On the claim form you adjusted an 18.4R38
146A8/143B AGRIBIB MSPN 72676. The current retail
price of this tire is $1600.00 and there was a 50%
charge to the consumer for the tire. As a result the
consumer was required to pay $800.00 to obtain a
replacement tire plus tax and service. The new
weight of this tire, from the MICHELIN Ag Tire Data
Book and current Price Book, is 300 lbs.
You take the claim form and the tire to your MNA
Distributor, Great Big Tire, and request that he give
you the appropriate credits. He checks over the claim
form to make sure that all is correct and he inspects
the tires to ensure that you made all of the correct
decisions concerning warranty claims. He then fills out
a “Limited Warranty Credit Worksheet” which tells
him how much he can expect to receive back from
Michelin and how much he should credit Ag Tires, Inc.
He knows (of course he will never tell you) that his
net cost for this tire from Michelin is $1100.00 and
he knows that your net cost per tire from Great Big
Tire is $1300.00.
The “Handling Allowance Factor” used to calculate
the Retailer and the MNA Distributor Handling
Allowance is $0.09 and $0.09 per pound respectively.
Using the attached “Limited Warranty Credit
Worksheet” determine how much the MNA
Distributor’s credit will be from Michelin.
Also determine how much the Retailer’s credit will
be from the MNA Distributor.
*The prices, both retail and wholesale, used in this exercise were fabricated solely for use
as an example and have nothing to do with current Michelin, distributor or retail pricing.
18
• First, he pays the MNA Distributor $1300.00 for the
tire to satisfy the limited warranty claim.
• The Consumer pays him $800.00 to install the
replacement tire (now the Retailer is $500.00 in the
hole).
• Then the MNA Distributor passes the credit of
$500.00 to him (so now he's even).
Notes on the process used to calculate the credit to
the MNA Distributor:
• If the Current Retail price for the replacement tire
is not on the claim form, Michelin will use the
current Dealer Base price in the calculation. (This
will probably result in a smaller credit as “Current
Retail Price” may be less than “Dealer Base Price”).
• The “MNA Distributor net price” used is the net
price to the MNA distributor for the replacement
tire, on the date of the claim. The same date should
be used when calculating the Retailer credit also.
• If the Amount Collected from the Consumer, as
calculated by Michelin, is less than the actual
Amount Collected by the Retailer, the actual
Amount Collected by the Retailer will be used in
the calculation.
• If the Amount Collected from the Consumer by the
Dealer is greater than the sum of the MNA
Distributor net price + Handling Allowances + any
Mounting and Service Allowances, there is no
credit paid.
• If the Consumer elects to replace the adjusted tire
with a tire of higher value. The warranty credit will
then be based on the cost of the replacement tire.
• This must be authorized by the ASDM with his
signature on the claim form.
• If there is a warranty claim on a tire previously
replaced under warranty, the date of the claim will
revert to the original claim date.
