United Nations
Conference

DPSN MUN, 2014
with over 200
students from
schools in Delhi
a n d

participating as
delegates. The
opening ceremony
of this mega event
was graced by Dr. Ramesh Kumar Jalan, moderator of the Climate Change Community,
Solution Exchange, United Nations. Four committees were simulated for the ConferenceGeneral Assembly, International Monetary Fund, Rome Statute of the International Criminal
Court and the White House Situation Room. The event was a huge success.

Mrs. Avantika Arora, from the Psychology Department was a panelist for the session on
Emotional Intelligence at DPS Society's HRD Centre. This session was a part of the
leadership development programme, 'Professional Development in Educational
Management '(PDEM), organised each year for senior school educators.
·
Around 350 students of classes VI-VIII appeared in the ASSET exam for the subjectsEnglish, Maths and Science. This is a diagnostic skill based assesment.

Mr. Biltu Sarkar performed at Annual Kathak
Festival organized by Kathak Kendra, New
Delhi and Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad.

DPS Noida conducted a session for the senior
faculty
of DPS schools under the Leadership
Development Programme(PDEM) organised by

DPS Society's HRD
centre.
The
principal of DPS
Noida, Ms. Kamini
Bhasin conducted
an
impressive
session on the
'History of DPS
Noida and its
growth'. Other
concepts covered
by the school
faculty were EQ,
Developing an
environment of opportunity for student growth, CCE, optimising student potential and
orienting perceptions for the future.
51 principals, Vice Principals, HMs and HODs from different DPS schools attended this
programme.

885 students from Classes I to V participated in the International Mathematics Olympiad
conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation. Aditya Srivastava secured International
Rank 2, Shashwat Mundra secured International Rank 3, Atidipt Ashnin, Rudraksh
Bhandari, Suchir Kaustav secured International Rank 5, 6, 8 respectively and six children
secured International Ranks between 11 and 34.

DPS Noida organised the
Dorling Kindersley Quiz (DK
Quiz) school Round in
which
140
students
participated. The winning
team received books from DK
and a cash prize of Rs.1000/each. They represented the
school in the city finals of the
DK Quiz held on 19th Dec at Sri
Sathya Sai Auditorium, Lodhi
Road. Mr. Aditya Nath Mubayi
(CEO, Quiz Craft) was the Quiz Master for the school round.

Mrs. Yamini Dhall, Junior wing Faculty attended an Early Childhood Certification

A seminar entitled 'Education in Russia' was organised for the Biology students of class XI
with a view to inform them about the availability of options available in Russia's top medical
colleges for those desirous of pursuing their studies in Russia. This seminar was organised
by the Russian Centre for Science and Culture.
December 7-8
·
Over 200 German Language learning students (VI-X) participated in the 7th DPS Goethe
Online Quiz on Germany. The questions revolved around history, geography, architecture,
famous personalities, tourist attractions etc.
December 10
·
300 students of class VII undertook an educational trip to Humayun's Tomb and
Gurudwara Damdama Saheb.
·
DPS Noida Quizzers won the Sports Quiz organised by Global Indian International School,
Noida. Twenty sports enthusiasts represented the school.
·
At Breakout, Western Music Competition organised by Amity Saket, DPS Noida won the
third prize overall, with a 2nd prize in Band Performance and a 3rd in Duet.
·
Ínvariants – The Maths Quiz Club of DPSN invited IITians (ex students of the school) to
inspire 45 students (Maths Wizards) of classes IX-XI. The IITians conducted modules for the
students and solved questions from the RMO papers
December 11
·
The DPS Science and Maths Talent Examination(SMTE) 2014 was held at DPS Noida for
class IX students. With an aim to promote a love for Maths and Science, students of class IX

were motivated to participate in this exam. 244 students out of 295 took the exam on
November 11 and 13 students qualified for the second level which was held on Sunday
December 14. DPS Noida also played host to 122 students of various Delhi Public Schools
competing in the second level.
December 11-15

Subject experts from Maths, English and Hindi departments of DPS Noida attended
meetings at DPS Society Office, East of Kailash, to schedule and format Common
Assessment and Practice Class Assignments as well as devise a syllabus for common
assessment of students achievement which is a pilot project, beginning 2015, to be
conducted at the end of class V and class VIII in core schools.
December 12

At the Literary Fest, organised by the Shriram Millennium School, DPS Noida won the 3rd
prize in Poster Art and participated wholeheartedly in Reader's Theatre which was a non
competitive event.
·
A Show and Tell activity was held for all the students of Class I. Each student brought an
object from home and spoke a few lines on it. The children brought various kinds of objects
like globe, treasure boxes, favourite toy etc. It was a fun filled activity which the children
enjoyed immensely. It also helped them in gaining confidence. The best speakers were
presented with star badges.
December 12-14

At the Ashok Piramal Group Excellentia Equestrian Centre Horse Show, held at Vasant
Kunj, DPS Noida won 8 Golds, 8 Silvers and 5 Bronze medals. 25 DPS Noida students
participated in ball and bucket, pole bending, hacks, dressage and jumps of various levels.
The event was graced by Lt. Gen. Ajay Kumar Singh(Retd.), Lt. Governor of Andaman and
Nicobar Islands.

DPS Noida hosted the National Finals of the Inter DPS Football Tournament for
Boys(Open) 2014 organised under the aegis of DPS Society. Nineteen DPS schools from
all over India participated in this event after winning the Zonals in their respective leagues.
DPS Vasant Kunj lifted the prestigious trophy with DPS Noida coming a close second in a
thrilling finale. DPS Gurgaon won the 3rd position. The event was graced by Squadron
Leader S.S. Hakeem, a football legend of FIFA repute, Mr. Pramod Grover, Chairman DPS
Noida, Mrs. Surjeet Khanna, Principal Greater Faridabad and Mr. Mohanty, Principal DPS
Navi Mumbai.
December 16-17

An educational trip was planned for Classes I and II within school hours. The students
visited places of worship (Gurudwara, Temple, Church-Noida). They were sensitized to

respect various religions and hence build up a secular outlook. The visit was followed by a
small picnic in the Gandhi Park in the school premises.
December 16-18

Senior teachers of Physics, Maths and Chemistry Department attended a three day
workshop at the CBSE Office to review and validate content for the UDAAN Project under
which study material will be provided to students in the form of videos and tutorials.
December 16-22

DPS Noida celebrated GANIT(Group Aptitude in Numerical Innovations and Training)
week, under the aegis of CBSE, to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Shri
S.Ramanujan and to actively promote interest of students in Mathematics and its
applications. Under the Ganet Week, the school conducted various activities including Quiz
Competitions, Essay Writing, Screening of films, Origami and Poster Competition etc.
There were sessions on experience sharing on innovation by teachers and students as well
as lectures on Mathematics by eminent scientists.

The German Language Learners of DPS Noida won the 3rd prize in Bag Painting at the
Inter School Visual Art Competition, organised by Lotus Valley International School,
Noida, in collaboration with Goethe Institute, Max Mueller Bhavan.
December 17 - 18

An enriching workshop was organized by Kendriya Hindi Sansthan (Ministry of Human
Resource Development) in collaboration with DPS society at DPS, East of Kailash. This
workshop was specially organized for primary level Hindi teachers and was attended by Ms.
Kanchan Gulati, Ms. Babli Rana and Ms. Nilima Tewari.

12 students of classes IX-X participated in the Sanskrit Olympiad organised by Amity
International School, Saket. The results are awaited.
December 19
·
An Inter Section Debate for classes IX-X was organised by the Debating Club of DPS
Noida 'Touche’
·
DPS Noida won the 1st prize in Quiz at NEXUS, the Computer Festival at DPS Greater
Noida. The students also bagged the 2nd prize in Web Designing, Gaming, Movie Making,
Photography and Programming.
·
DPS Noida won the 2nd position in Western Solo at the Western Music Nationals

organised by DPS R.K.Puram. Twenty schools participated in the competition.
·
At the Spell Bee, organised at Pragyan School, Greater Noida, students from classes
III-V won the 1st prize and participants from classes I and II won the 2nd prize.
December 20

Ms. Rashima Kasal of the English Department and Ms. Kavita Dahiya of the Maths
Department went as subject experts to the Selection Committee meeting of DPS
Greater Noida.
December 21

The Annual Alumni Meet of
DPS Noida was organised in
the School Grounds. Hundreds
of students who have passed
out of the portals of the school,
gathered in the picturesque
lawns, to reconnect with their
teachers and friends and
reminisce about old times. The
warm
camaraderie,
sumptuous lunch and the
bright sun made it an
unforgettable trip down memory lane.

DPS Noida won the Overall Third Position at the Quiz and Power Point Competition
held at Pragyan School, Greater Noida.

Ramanujan Maths Competition was conducted by Amity International School, Noida.

At ACCESS -14, Inter School Computer Symposium organised at Modern School,
Barakhamba Road DPS Noida won the 1st prize Computer, Fancy Dress and Power
Point, the second prize in Story Writing and the 3rd prize in Junior Programming.

Aditya Krishnan of VIII D won the first prize in the English Essay Writing Competition

organised by Sri Aurobindo Society on the topic, My Contribution in the resurgence of India in the light of Sri Aurobindo. He was felicitated during a mega event celebrating the
contribution of Sri Aurobindo to the National Movement.

Saundarya Pathak of DPS Noida won a Bronze Medal at the Sub Junior National Table
Tennis Tournament held at Rajamundry, Andhra Pradesh. She won this honour for the
second time in two years.

At the Inter School DPS Multi Sports Meet -2014 organised at DPS Greater Noida, DPS
Noida were declared Champions in Table Tennis. Aishwarya and Saundarya Pathak
were the stars of the tournament as they defeated DPS Mathura Road in a scintillating
finale.

Prakhar Srivastava of class VI secured AIR2 at the Unified Cyber Olympiad 2014-15.
He was awarded a Tablet PC, a Memento and a Medal. 9 students secured Ranks
(11-25).

At the Ramanujam, Inter School Maths Competition 2014, DPS Noida students bagged
one Gold and two Silver Medals.
·
Prakhar Srivastava of class VI won a National Essay Competition on Good
Governance organised by CBSE, to concide with the birthday of former Prime
Minister, Shri. Atal Behari Bajpayee. Over 1500 students from Gautam Budh Nagar
District participated in this competition and Prakhar was the sole winner.
