FCA MINISTRY
FINANCAL REPORT
MONTHLY PLEDGES
AS OF
February 1ST:
Early Saturday morning prior to the 1st day of competition these girls met for a Prayer
Breakfast together underneath a tent on the Disney property. All of the schools from
our area were invited to come, but due to the competition schedule all could not attend.
The schools represented in this picture are Albertville, Boaz and Douglas High Schools.
These young ladies shared a Chick-Fil-A Biscuit together and then joined hands in
prayer for one another. This is a great way to start for all of us to start our day and it
was an awesome way to start the 1st day of National Competition! Praise the Lord!

The College Advance— A “CAMP” for college male and female students from Junior Colleges & Universities from all across the state.
There were 21 first-time decisions made at the College Retreat, 47 made decisions to rededicate their lives to the Lord! Praise the
Lord for all of these decisions. Here is my group (#3) celebrating after winning the “SHOCCO EXPRESS” — A team RELAY! Great Job
TEAM! :-)
Shane Newton
Youth Pastor, Brindlee Mountain
Baptist Church
My name is Shane Newton. I am the Minister to Students at Brindlee Mountain
Baptist Church. I have served in this ministry for 1 1/2 years. I am blessed with a
God-sent wife to put with me and serve alongside me named Anna Newton. We
have two wonderful children, Britany (5) and Dylan (3).
I graduated from Austin High School in Decatur, AL in 1995. I played football during my high school years. After high school, God blessed me with the opportunity
to walk-on at the University of North Alabama (UNA) to play football. My freshman
year we won our third consecutive National Championship in Divison II football. I
got to get a huge championship ring and be part a football dynasty in Division II.
As you can imagine, I am a football fanatic! While in high school, I got involved in
FCA. I was already a Christian, saved at the age of ten. My assistant football
coach, Vance Roberson was over our huddle. God used Coach Roberson to challenge me and inspire me to work hard for my personal goals as well to develop my
personal relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I got to attend FCA
camp between my junior and senior year down in South Alabama. While I was at
UNA, I was surrounded by godly coaches and players. My wide receiver coach and
offensive coordinater held Bible studies every Tuesday night in the dorms. Our
quarterback, Cody Gross, set an example as a Christian leader and captain of our
football team. Everyone is saying, "We have taken God out of schools!" I know it
seems like it sometimes but God IS IN our schools! God is raising up students
who are not ashamed to stand for Christ at school! We have teachers and
coaches who are proud to be Christian and live the life in front of the students.
God is up to something in our schools!!!!! We hear about all the violence, drugs,
parties, and sex that goes on with our students but God has been working behind
scenes with starting Bible studies, FCA huddles, students coming to Christ, bringing in godly teachers and coaches, student prayer meetings, and bringing a godly
man named Ken Burnett to North Alabama to lead FCA. I am excited to see God
use Ken and FCA to reach out in the schools and raise up godly students and
coaches that is going to make an impact for His kingdom!
It is an honor to serve on the FCA board alongside Ken and Angie Burnett. I got
the opportunity to meet Ken a year ago when he was at Gilliam Springs Baptist
Church as their youth minister. Ken allowed our students to tag team along with
his to go to Rockhill, SC for a mission trip during spring break last year. The more
time I have spend with Ken the more I see his love for God and for students! I love
to be around him because his excitement and enthusiasm rubs off on you! This
excitement comes from the Lord showing Ken what God wants to do in our students lives in our community and North Alabama!
These 2 Huddles are being led by 2 Football Coaches who have humbled me with
their passion for the Lord and for their
Students! Coach Jones and Coach Pate
are doing a fabulous job coaching/teaching these Students how to be
Christian men and women. We are
blessed to have these 2 in our area and
serving as Huddle Coaches for these 2
schools. Pictured above are the FCA Officers at their 1st meeting. This meeting
was on Friday after school. Think back
for a moment. When you were in High
School would you have stayed after
school for over an hour to be trained how
to impact your campus for Jesus? Praise
the Lord for what He is doing on Middle
I shared with you in last month’s newsletter about the Student Prayer Meeting at the FCA Office at 9:11 on
Wednesday nights. Many Students who were coming shared how their friends would be able to come if we
moved the time to 8:11. So, we begin praying at 8:11 and end at 9:11 every Wednesday night. One Board
Member suggested that we keep calling it 9:11, and just remind people that it is 9:11 (Eastern Standard
Time). GREAT IDEA! :-)
This last month at 9:11 (EST) we began praying through the yearbook for their classmates and faculty.
WOW! It is so awesome to see Students broken enough for their school to pray. They are praying for many
whom they do not even know. Praise the Lord for Students who realize they are living in an emergency (911)
spiritual situation!

Special Thanks to Grandpa and
Grandma for keeping our kids for
a few days while we were in Orlando. This allowed Angie to
minister with me full-time during
several of the extremely busy
days while we were there. Angie’s dad is a Pastor and her
mother is a Kindergarten Teacher.
They both invested many hours in
to this trip by driving over to get
the kids and by bringing them all
the way back too. Thanks Grandpa
and Grandma for all you did! :-)
