The Safety Director & Human Resources Director are teaming up to ensure
the safety of all of our employees by initiating and monitoring all safety
procedures. We need everyone’s full participation to make this work.
There are several new construction
operations that Posillico will implement for the upcoming season. With
these new operations come hazards
most employees have not encountered
before. For these reasons we have developed a new company safety motto,
SLAM (Stop, Look, Analyze, Manage).
It’s everyone’s responsibility to “Think
Safety” by following the proper procedures and instructions given to you
by the Safety Director, your Supervisor, and your Foreman. All employees
should to take the time to assess the
operations they are involved in and
feel confident that they are able to put
a stop to unsafe operations. This process will help to insure the safety
of all workers on jobsites.
Posillico’s goal is to eliminate harm
from every job-site to the best of our
ability and that can happen if we follow
Posillico’s values. Everyone should be a person that cares about others; is committed
to doing what’s right, and is open-minded
and teachable, so that he or she will want
to learn new ways to work safer. We all need
to be collaborative by working together
for one another; being ethical by doing the
right thing, even when no one is watching,
and being accountable for our own actions.

Artie Meadows
Joe Jr. Award Recipient
Artie Meadows was the fourth recipient
of the Joe Jr. award. Artie is currently the
Plant Manager for Posillico Materials and
the Master Mechanic for Local 138 (Operating Engineers Union). Artie has been with
Posillico since 1967 when he started out as
a Truck Driver, his other roles over the past
40 years have ranged from a Boat Captain
to an Operating Engineer. Receiving this
award was extra special for Artie because he
has been a long time friend of the Posillico
family and was one of Joe Jr.’s best friends.
Artie has always been a no nonsense guy,
who always puts the company first. Congratulations Artie!!!
We would like to congratulate all employees for their safety efforts that helped us
win a Safety Excellence Award for 2005
given to us by the Association of General
Contractors of NY at their convention

Breaking New Ground
The Yaphank Correctional Facility is an excellent example of Posillico’s ability to solve complex construction problems.
The job will consist of 360 precast concrete jail cells and even though most of us have worked on jobs with precast systems
in the past, this job presented a unique challenge. Due to the excessive weight and size of the design it became clear to the
SCDPW that a standard precast system would not be feasible. This is where Posillico’s “We Know How” mind-set and ability to think outside the box saved the day.
Posillico, with the assistance of the precast contractor Rotondo Weirich, was able to design a temporary on site assembly system. The
creative thinking by the Posillico team was one of the main reasons we were the awarded the precast contract by the SCDPW. This idea
will allow us to pour all of the precast cells on site so they can meet the geometric specifications required. The assembly will require
multiple work areas operating in coordination with one another to allow for a continuous flow of work and the production assembly
will occupy 7 acres of workspace on the 25-acre site.
The project team consists of Mike Perciballi (Area Manager),
Joseph Seplavy (Project Manager), and myself. This team
has been actively gathering knowledge by attending several
meetings with the designers in Pennsylvania, Tampa, and
making a visit to an existing job site in Oklahoma.
Although it may seem that this style of production is
limited to prison structures, this is not the case. There
are several applications for this system, including hotels,
manufacturing plants, commercial buildings and residential
modules. Not only does this method of construction create
a high level of quality control, it saves time and money.
This job is just another illustration of Posillico’s ability to
diversify our scope of work and increase our possibilities for
future revenue.

Posillico to the Rescue… Again!
Two years after reaching an agreement with St. Paul/Travelers Bond (Surety) for the
take-over and successful completion of the two LIE HOV NYSDOT projects, Posillico
once again has been called upon by the Surety to complete another NYSDOT project, the construction of Wantagh Parkway Bridge Over Sloop Channel. This project,
started by Modern Continental Construction, Inc. (MCC) in 2003, is one of the last
remaining projects that MCC’s Surety is responsible for seeing through to completion.
Under the agreement reached with the Surety, Posillico will receive a fixed fee to oversee
the completion of the approximately twenty
million dollars of remaining work on the
project. This will include completion of the
structural steel erection, installation of the

completion of remaining pre-stressed concrete
piles, as well as the completion of the on-grade
roadway approaches to the new bridge and the
removal of the existing temporary bridge. In addition to the fixed fee, there is an opportunity to
generate additional revenue and profit through a
shared savings agreement with the Surety.
In light of the complex problems with some of
the remaining work, and the need to coordinate
the transition of the various subcontractors
from MCC to Posillico, we have put the project in the capable hands of Fred Locher (VP of
Procurement). Assisting Fred in the daily field
operations are John May (Project Manager), and
Rob Delmonte (Project Engineer). We have also
retained the services of two new employees, who
already have some hands on experience
with the project. Randy Russ, PE (Project
Manager) and Russ Mazzola (Project
Superintendent) both have extensive
experience in structural concrete and
marine related work.
In addition to the revenue that this
project will bring the company, it will
also give us some valuable experience in
the areas of bridge and marine construction. This will enable Posillico to further
diversify our operations and increase
our sources of potential sales revenue.

Drilling Operations Have Commenced
Over the past year Posillico has invested over five million dollars in new drilling equipment. While we still utilize a conventional setup for some applications, advances in
technology have led us to purchase safer, more versatile machines. The acquisition of
these new machines will enable the company to continue to grow and diversify.
Last spring we acquired our first machine,
the RTG19, for work at two sewer plants,
Bergen Point and Cedar Creek. The new
equipment helped us successfully complete Steel Sheeting installations and CFA
(Continuous Flight Auger) applications.
The same machine also drove 30 Foot
Steel Sheets and installed CFA concrete
piles safely, on time, on target, and on
budget. This operation was completed by
the dedicated work of Jim Simeone (Labor
Foreman), Michael Gargano (Dock Builder
Foreman), Dave Wenz (Machine Operator),
Mike Bonjorno (Pump Operator), Edward
Dredge (Mechanic), and John Nelson
(Mechanic). The second project we used
the RTG19 was at River Place, where we
installed H-piles and drilled into rock with
a Down the Hole Hammer. Although we
had minimal experience with drilling rock,
the task was completed by the hard work
of Derrick Wilson (Dock Builder Foreman),
Dave Wenz (Machine Operator), and Bill
Harrington (Oiler/Mechanic). Both projects
were an example of teamwork by our Project
Management Teams, field personnel, and our
“We Know How” attitude.
The tremendous success on these jobs led us to
the purchase of more equipment. After extensive research by Joe Sheehan (Area Manager),
Ben Cartelami (Shop Supervisor) and myself, we
decided to purchase four more machines from
German and Italian Manufactures. This equipment gives us the capability to complete the
following types of work: Steel Sheeting, Driven
H-Piles, Driven Pipe Piles, CFA, Down the Hole
Hammer, Casing, Secant Pile Walls, Large Diameter Caissons, Mini-Piles, Soil Anchors, and
Earth Retention Systems.
To date we have successfully completed numerous projects across Long Island and around the
New York City Area with the equipment we
currently have, and all of the new equipment
is presently allocated for the 2007 year. We will
to continue to look for new opportunities to
satisfy our costumer’s needs in the future.

FY07 Review
In February, we held our FY07 1st Qtr Strategic Planning Meeting, some of highlights were an insightful and enjoyable historical overview of the company by Mario Posillico, a presentation of the new branding & marketing initiative, review of strategic plan & OPO’s. To
top the event off we all participated in an action packed and more than slightly humorous go-cart assembly and race team building exercise. In March, the BOD, Executives, Management and Project Staff attended several Leadership & Management workshops, “Profiles
in Courage & Confidence” by Dr. Simmons and “Project Manager Academy Training” by FMI. The goal of the seminars is to improve
and enhance our proficiency in communication, teamwork, collaboration, management techniques, and client relationships.
