Friendship Dam

inaugurated the AfghanIndia Friendship Dam in Herat province in Western Afghanistan.
The Dam was earlier known as Salma Dam on the river ChisteSharif in western Herat neighbouring Iran. It
will irrigate 75000 hectares of land and generate 42 Mega Watts of power. The Landmark Infrastructure
Project is funded by Union Government.
The project is executed and implemented by WAPCOS Ltd which is an undertaking of Ministry of Water
Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.
Mr. Ghani conferred the highest civilian honour of Afghanistan, the Amir Amanullah Khan Award on Indian
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the inaugural function.

India joins Hague Code of Conduct against Ballistic Missile Proliferation

Vienna is central contact for same to which India notified using diplomatic channels.
It was done with an aim to further strengthen global nonproliferation objectives. This will also help to
increase transparency and strengthen security.

The HCoC is a voluntary mechanism that has built a broad international predisposition against ballistic
missile proliferation.
India, Tunisia sign MoUs for cooperation in IT, handicrafts sector

Information Technology and promotion of traditional handicrafts.
The MoUs were signed after the delegation level talks between the two countries in the presence of Vice
President Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid in Tunis.
The two sides also decided to enhance cooperation in counter terrorism. Ansari also invited 350
Tunisian citizens to India for training in different institutes over the next five years.
India announces to Double Investment in Clean Energy Research in next
five years

years. At present, India is investing 72 million US dollars in Clean Energy Research and it seeks to double it

This announcement was made by the Union Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Dr
Harsh Vardhan who led the Indian delegation at the 7th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM7) and the inaugural
Mission Innovation (MI) Meet.
The CEM7 and MI meet was held at San Francisco, the US from 1 and 2 June 2016.
Singapore International Arbitration Centre signed MoA with GIFT City to
open representative office

with Gujarat International Finance TecCity Company Limited (GIFTCL) and GIFT SEZ Limited (GIFT SEZ) to
establish a representative office in India. The office will be located in the Gujarat International Finance TecCity
(GIFT City).
The center will be instrumental in resolving international commercial disputes. It will also promote SIAC’s
arbitration services to Indian users.
The signatories will collaborate to promote the use of arbitration, mediation, and other dispute resolution
mechanisms including ArbMedArb service, which is a process where a dispute is first referred to arbitration
before mediation is attempted.
TRAI launched Mobile Application to register complaints against pesky

Application for telecom subscribers to register their complaints against pesky calls and SMSes. It is an easy

The new mobile application will help people in easily registering complaints and help the authority in
monitoring such activities.
The application is available on Android and will be soon launched for Apple iOS.

Football Club (KBFC) met Vijayan at the state secretariat.

Union Cabinet approved setting up of India Post Payments Bank

Limited Company under the Department of Posts, with 100% Government of India (GOI) equity. These banks

It will allow all Indian citizens, especially the 40% of the country’s population that is outside the country will
benefit from this project.
Its services will be available across the country through 650 payments bank branches, linked post offices and
alternative channels riding on modern technology including mobiles, ATMs, etc.

Rahul Johri takes charge as first ever CEO of BCCI

India and US to sign 2 key pacts during Homeland Security Dialogue
