Pi Beta Phi Pink Party
The lovely home of Kathy Shuford was the setting
for our Dallas Alumnae Club’s annual Pink Party.
Held on Thursday, February 11th, it was a Pink
Party to be remembered! The event was chaired
by Laura Kellogg, Terry Hill and Kathy Shuford
and catered by Liz Swift Copeland, celebrated
Houston caterer and event planner. Liz is also
the pledge sister of Laura Kellogg and many of
the ladies attending! The party was aglow with
pink lights, beautiful flowers, fabulous food, a
wonderful Cookie Shine and special friends.
Many thanks to all of these wonderful Pi Phis for
a glorious evening!!

Pi Beta Phi Christmas Tea
Texas Beta House at SMU
The beautiful Pi Beta Phi Christmas Tea was held at the Pi Beta
Phi house at SMU this year! It was quite a festive occasion
with the Highland Park High School String Quartet, festive
Christmas decorations, delicious food, glorious Christmas
cookies and special friends! The evening was chaired by the
fabulous mother-daughter teams of Mary Cynthia Church
and her daughter, Emily, and Vicki Ward and her daughter,
Ellie. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas by
Lee Rury, Michelle Collins, and Margaret Ann Purse. We
wholeheartedly thank these talented ladies for providing such
a beautiful, special evening for all of us.

Junior Night
Group Out on
the Town
This winter the Junior Night Group
enjoyed many activities celebrating our
love for Pi Beta Phi and our sisterhood!
We enjoyed a Friendsgiving celebration,
a Christmas party, a holiday fashion
and gift preview at the Gypsy Wagon
and a carriage ride around Highland
Park. This spring we have many exciting
events planned around Dallas from our
monthly book club meetings to our fun
wine nights! We are especially excited to
celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday with the
children at the Trinity River Mission on
March 2nd for Pi Phi’s Fraternity Day of
Service!

The annual Pi Beta Phi New York Theatre
Trip was in October. We had girlfriends,
mothers and daughters, sisters, Pi Phis
and those people who are not Pi Phis
traveling with us this year! We enjoyed
seeing the huge hit Hamilton, the truly
enchanting American in Paris, the funny
and joyous Finding Neverland and the
thought-provoking Curious Incident of
the Dog in the Night-time. The group
was spotted each morning enjoying coffee
and making new friends at the Pomme
Palais inside the Lotte New York Palace,
street shopping on Madison and Fifth,
visiting museums across from Central Park,
walking the High Line, touring the 9 11
Museum and Observation Deck, dining
at Bergdorf ’s and 21 and having cocktails
at Baccarat Hotel and The Modern. We
loved having former Dallasite, but long
time New Yorker, Elizabeth Krouse, with
us each evening on the coach to give us all
the inside information on the Broadway
shows and cast members. This is a great
way to visit New York City. Completely
carefree- just get yourself to DFW airport
and Polly and Mike Trapp of Frosch Travel
and I do the rest - we transport you to and
from La Guardia and 4 Broadway shows.
We even check you in at the Palace. Then
we give you plenty of time to shop, dine,
walk and see the lights! Everything about
this trip needs an !!! exclamation mark.

Shining Arrows Group “Pictures with Santa”
The Shining Arrows Group’s “Pictures with Santa” was held on Tuesday, December 1st, and it was a huge success this year! 101
children had their pictures made with Santa at the Texas Beta House, which was a great number to have as we continue to celebrate
our Centennial. Many thanks to our awesome chairs, Alyssa Ramsey and Katherine Fullam, who did a fantastic job planning and
executing this wonderful event. The vendors at our mini Christmas market helped us with some lovely gifts, and Stacy Bratton
Photography did a great job capturing the special moments between the children and Santa. We are thankful for all the littlest angels
who came to visit Santa with us this year!

Special Gift to Texas Beta
On November 2, 2015 Ruth Altshuler gave her prestigious Member of Distinction Award to the Pi Beta Phi chapter at
SMU, her very own chapter! This exceptional National award is only given every other year and honors an extraordinary
member of Pi Beta Phi who has distinguished herself and who has achieved success and recognition within her profession.
The chapter was thrilled and honored to receive her gift and held a beautiful dinner at the Pi Phi house to commemorate
this special occasion.
