January brings two days of classes, a full day of PAC solos, and our annual El & Bernice Warner, Zee Brown-­‐Ahearn and Van Cummings scholarship auditions. (Don’t miss the deadline for these great opportunities for summer training! Paperwork will need to be in the chairs’ hands by 1/6/16!) The parents of Dee Buchanan’s dancers will provide food again this year MHS (Pizza, Whole Wheat Turkey wrap (with provolone, lettuce and tomato), Water, Gatorade, Soda, Chips, Pretzels, Popcorn, Candy bars, Coffee, Hot tea, Hot Chocolate, Bananas (maybe hot dogs too) J Don’t forget about Basket Donations! Don’t forget to contribute a basket to our second annual raffle during PAC solos! Each studio is asked to create a "basket" (non dance based), and send Colleen Bogan a picture and descriptions before the January workshop. Each basket will be assigned a number, people can purchase as many chances they want for as many baskets they want. The baskets will be on display during PAC Solo and we will draw the winners during awards. MADM TIMES WINTER 2016 A Very Special Opportunity! Terrence Mann and Charlotte D’Amboise are coming to Middletown on Monday, 1/18, and they are teaching a 3-­‐hour workshop!!!! AND they are holding auditions for their summer program!!!!! Who are Terrence Mann & Charlotte D’Amboise? Terrence Mann has originated some of the most memorable roles in recent Broadway history. His career has spanned 3 decades. From his breakout performance as the rock ‘n roll Rum Tum Tugger in CATS to his critically acclaimed Tony nominated turn as Inspector Javert in Les Miserable. Mr. Mann has constantly reinvented his abilities to fit the musical theatre world. His portrayal of The Beast in Beauty and the Beast garnered him his second Tony nomination as well as a Drama Desk Nomination and an Outer Critic Circle nomination. In 2013 he earned his third Tony nomination and won the Outer Critic Circle award for his dynamic performance as King Charlemagne in the smash hit revival of PIPPIN. Terry is currently playing the dual roles of Charles Frohman/Hook in the Broadway hit Finding Neverland and in February starts rehearsal for the Broadway premiere of Tuck Everlasting. On Netflix critically acclaimed original series SENSE8, Mr. Mann is Mr. Whispers. Other credits on the Broadway stage include: Chauvelin in The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Addams Family (Mal Bienekie), Lennon (Ensemble), The Rocky Horror Show (Frank 'N' Furter), Getting Away With Murder (Greg), A Christmas Carol (Scrooge), Rags (Saul), Barnum (Ringmaster, matinee Barnum on tour), Jerome Robbin's Broadway (Narrator) and Jekyll and Hyde (title roles, pre-­‐Broadway workshop.) A veteran of numerous Broadway shows, Charlotte D’Amboise was nominated for the prestigious Tony Award for her performance as Cassie in the Broadway revival of A Chorus Line. Most recently, Charlotte was seen in the Broadway revival of Pippin in the role of Fastrada, for which she won the Fred Astaire Award. Other Broadway shows include Roxie in Chicago (Drama Critics Circle Award, The Ovation Award, The Bay Area Theatre Award), Lola in Damn Yankees (Fred Astaire Award), Charity in Sweet Charity (Fred Astaire Award) and Anita as well as other featured roles in Jerome Robbins’ Broadway (Tony Award Nomination.) Other Broadway shows include Contact, Company and Cats. She has also appeared in numerous Off-­‐Broadway and regional productions. Throughout her career onstage, she has worked alongside several legendary directors including Bob Fosse, Jerome Robbins, Michael Bennett, Peter Martins, Rob Marshall, Ann Reinking, Debbie Allen, Gillian Lynn, Rob Ashford, Diane Paulus, Walter Bobby and George Balanchine. Charlotte can be seen in the acclaimed documentary of real-­‐life dancers as they struggle through auditions for the Broadway revival of A Chorus Line entitled, Every Little Step. Charlotte has also been seen in numerous films and TV shows, most recently in the acclaimed independent movie, Frances Ha. Terrence and Charlotte are the artistic directors of a unique musical theatre intensive for teens interested in pursuing a career in the Arts. By virtue of a crazy set of circumstances, Terrence and Charlotte have chosen to visit Middletown on Monday, January 18th!!!!! They will be holding a Musical Theatre Workshop, 1/18, 2-­‐5 pm, at The Dee Buchanan Studio of Dance. The cost is $50 per dancer. Dee will be collecting money for them, and it looks like credit cards will be able to be accepted on-­‐site, as well as cash and checks. After the workshop there will be a one-­‐hour break and then they will hold a two-­‐hour audition for their summer program! The program is called Triple Arts, and there is a three-­‐week event in North Carolina, and a ten-­‐day event in NYC! Go to www.triplearts.com for more information. Member teachers, this event will be open to the public, and will be likely to close. It would be FABULOUS if we could have a lot of our Chapter 17 dancers present to welcome them to the Mid-­‐
Atlantic!!!! (This is the first time they’ve held auditions here in MD, so we’re hoping to make a great impression! PAC Solo Music Turn-­‐in Please send all music for PAC Solos to Dee Buchanan by 1/10/2016. (That’s a deadline extension!) You can send music via email (just a few songs at a time), via Google drive, via Dropbox, or via another online method of your choice.
