“Slow-Burn StrikerS” Incident
“Slow-Burn StrikerS” Incident
A Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS fanfic
Story by gonzotheanime, Inspired by Reiko-san
Subaru Nakajima is an odd character on StrikerS. She's perverted to same-sex co-workers
(going as far as groping teammate Teana Lanstar) and stubborn, but also brave-hearted and
full of perseverance, willing to take on the job and finish it. She's also caring of her friends,
mostly Teana. Both of them went through magical academy and passed, and also the
entrance exam to Hayate Yagami's Section 6. The best of friends—OK, MORE than friends—
to be part of it's Stars group, headed by Subaru's hero, Nanoha Takamachi.
Sometimes her friend gets into more trouble than she thinks. Teana manages to almost kill
Subaru during the incident at Hotel Augusta, because of overdoing her attacks. She then tries
to push herself instead of listening to Nanoha and pays the price during a mock battleturned-awry, when Nanoha lost her cool and, in Nanoha terms, “befriends” Tia via her Cross
Fire attack.
Tia then became cross when she was told to rest during the next mission and was shown
Nanoha's dark secret: she once pushed herself too far in the past and nearly lost her life and
her ability to walk.
Tia apologized to both Nanoha and Subaru. So Subaru asked for Nanoha's permission for one
solo mission with Tia. None of the Aces of the Bureau to be involved, she wanted to ensure
Tia held on to their words and hers. It was a week after Tia's befriending...
***
“Why are we doing this?” asked Tia. “We're on an isolated, jungle-filled planet thousands of
miles from civilization WITHOUT OUR INSTRUCTOR'S SUPERVISION!”
Subaru had to hold her ear for comfort. It now aches from Tia's shouting. “I just want to
prove you learned your lesson and that we can work together!”
“Are you trying to get me killed?! I said I was sorry!”
“No! I'm not mad at you! I know you wanted to prove yourself!”
“THEN WHY ARE WE—?!”
Subaru quickly covered the friend's mouth. “Tia, please,” she said, as calmly as possible.
“There may be things that can hear us from far away. I'm starting to think you're having
suicidal tendencies.”
Lanstar shoved her comrade away. “Suicidal? You're suicidal by coming here, and homicidal
bringing me here!”
Subaru was shocked. “Tia, you think I'm trying to kill you?”
“Yes!”
She squirmed, becoming teary-eyed. “How cruel.”
“What do you mean?”
“I thought you would understand...”
Teana scuffed. “Blathering idiot.”
“I asked for this because I'm your friend. Friends do things to help other friends.”
“Well, friends don't get their friends in situations that might get them killed!”
“It's only a recon mission.”
“Recon or not, it's very dangerous. We're still trainees. We can't even beat our superiors.”
“So...not tonight?”
Teana blushed pure red. “No! No 'Two-Person Baths!' Never! Are you a pervert?”
“It was only a suggestion...”
A loud noise echoed through the trees. “Great, Subaru. We're not alone, you happy?”
“No. I think we should be careful. It sounded big...”
More sounds echoed. Sounds of obliterated trees.
“Got any ideas, Subaru?”
“Run?”
Quickly, upon Subaru's shout, a long, blue path hung in mid-air above the forest floor. Teana
quickly jumped on Subaru's back and the two zipped away on Subaru's roller blades.
“See, Tia?” she said. “If I wanted to kill you, I'd left you there!”
“Alright, you've made your point! Can you go any faster?!”
Even at top speed, the sounds kept getting louder each passing second. One of them
sounded like laughing.
Teana pointed this out. “I swear someone's laughing.”
“Oh, god! I hope it's in our heads!”
Silence. Subaru stopped. A look in all directions provided nothing. Not a single indicator of
anyone around.
Suddenly, the ground exploded underneath them. Dirt tossed them of Subaru's Wing Road,
and in midair a blur struck Teana.
After bouncing on the ground during landing, Subaru shakes herself off to look at the strange
perpetrator. It was a large worm-like creature with several arms sticking out. It's mouth was
lined with sharp teeth, mud clinging to them.
The mouth didn't move, but Subaru still heard human words. “Haha, I got another one of you
filthy TSAB mutts.”
“Hey! What have we done to you?!” she yelled.
“Way too much to even start! Now, hold still! I have already done away from your friend, so
it's your turn.”
“Tia?” Subaru panicked, searching quick until her companion was found, yards away from the
impact.
“Tia, you alright?” She shakes Teana but she didn't respond. Not even to flinch. She held on
to Teana's head. “C'mon, I need some help!”
She felt something wet in the teammate's orange hair. She looks at her palm and finds blood
on her fingers and glove. She then looked around and also found blood on her back, from
several scraps and gashes.
“Why didn't you put a barrier up?” Subaru whispered. “Or...don't tell me you were still
disobeying Nanoha-san's orders? Were you still trying to push yourself?”
Not a single word. Not a breath came from Teana.
Subaru smiled as tears came once more. “You're not dead. You just hang on. I'm gonna get
you home and everything will be fine.”
Interrupted the worm, “IF you can make it out alive...”
“SHUT THE HELL UP!” The Striker laid Teana down slowly, and stood back up. The monster
moved until a pair of eyes met Subaru's. It noticed a strange change in those eyes, from blue
as her hair to golden yellow, and how a smile formed on her face as well.
“Aren't you so lucky?” she spoke, strangely calm. “I think you managed to just knock her out
cold.”
“Why are you calling me lucky?” asked the monster.
“Do you wish to know what I would've done if she was really dead?”
“Drop dead with her?”
“Oh, heavens no.” She takes a few steps toward the monster. “What I would've done first is
to grind those pearly whites into a fine powder.”
The worm reeled back a fraction. “I can still kill you.”
“I'm not finished. Then, I'll tear each of your arms out of their sockets. Slowly, just to hear
you scream.”
No response.
“Wanna know what's next?”
Nothing still.
“I will dig deep and rip your lungs, your heart, and even your brain out, if you have one.” She
maintained that same, calm tone and smile. It was as if killing this beast and desecrate his
remains would be just another task to do. “Finally, break the remaining bones in your body.”
“You wouldn't dare. All the mages I've come across wouldn't even raise a finger to me, 'cause
they coward in fear.”
Subaru chuckled. “You just don't get it, do you? Right now, I'm so upset that I really don't
care if my best friend's alive or dead. You're still going to die horribly.”
“Why the hell's that?”
The mage showed the bloody hand. “If my Tia bleeds, I lose control of myself. I would wake
up and I won't remember a thing. I'll be standing next to someone's lifeless corpse. Now you
know to never hurt Tia again.”
***
Tia wakes up in the dorm. It's night. “Ow.”
“Don't push yourself, Tia.” Subaru came from the shower, with only a towel on her head.
“What the—Get some clothes on!”
“Why? We've been around long enough.”
“I don't care, idiot. What if someone comes in and sees you?!”
“I'll just strut my stuff!” Subaru strikes a sexual pose, making Teana blush.
“Get some clothes on and go to sleep.”
“You, too, so you can rest.”

TSAB investigations revealed one almost unrecognizable creature far from when they picked
up a distress signal from Subaru. She was found, in the middle of the creature's remains,
covered in blood from head to toe. Arms, lungs, heart, and brain was found several yards
from the corpse, and between the beast and Teana's body was shattered teeth.
Teana Lanstar received a bump on the head and was out for a few hours. She also heard of
these things and was going to ask Subaru on what really happened. The only thing she could
get out of Subaru was, “It doesn't matter. We're both alive and that's what counts.”
It was determined by investigators that whatever Subaru did to the worm fell under “selfdefense” clauses. No charges were filed, and the investigation was dropped.
