Duan Zi heng – A Great Overcomer!
We Are Family!
Good news for everyone is listened
to with intent interest as Jane
shares the wonderful gift of Home
Depot redecorating our home
without any cost to us.

Jia li and Ya fei (below) do not live
in the same apartment, but we are
all one family. Though we operate
our home with four apartments in
one building, there are no walls
between any of us – we are one big
happy loving family!
Left: Liu Cong hui is like half of a mother to Jin ge and Li jun.
She plays with them and teaches them songs and helps
bathe them in the evenings. She loves them so
much. She even rocks them to sleep.
To the right, Uncle (as the children call him)
Zhang Jun is reading to the little girls. They are
busy little ones and know they are deeply loved
by everyone in the home. They attend nursery
school during the school year but it doesn’t seem
to tire them. When they arrive home they are
ready for more fun and attention which with so
many brothers and sisters is always available.
With so many playmates in
the home, no one is ever left
out. Here the children are
playing a game. Three of the
new boys left to right are Lu
Bo, Huai Yu and Jin bo. Ya
fei is growing up but still
enjoys playing with all the
family.
Looking at
the summer
rules that we
laminated
for each
home before
Jane left for the States drew
much interest. There are some
cute things on the page that
has drawn their attention. Left
to right: Mu Yao dong in blue,
Huai yu, Du Qing ze, Jian
Guang in the back, Qian Jin Ke,
Qiu yue and Jin Ge.
Games, Games, and More Games!
The children love to sit around the stone table in our yard and play all kinds of games. They might all be
interested in one kind of game at one time, then they suddenly will switch to a different kind of game. It is so
nice that the older boys always enjoy playing with the little ones .
The girls are not excluded. They are
into the same kinds of games as the
boys. Here are Gu Si yuan, Qiu Yue, Ya
Fei and Lu Bo.
Perseverance
You all know that
Mother Hui qin is
almost like a real
mother to Zhou Ping.
There is something
that just bound them
together. Her
guidance and
encouragement
means so much in this
boy’s life. He acts like
a real mature adult
and he is working
hard at his school
work, yet he just isn’t
able to memorize too well.
All the other children are eager to help him and are so happy with
his continual progress.
While Zhou ping studies hard to keep up, Zhang Ya jun was
accepted by #1 high school in Xinmi without taking any final tests.
His excellency with his academics is so wonderful that his school
recommended him to the best class of this high school. When the other boys
talked about his achievement their comments were full of admiration especially from Hao peng
and Duan Zi heng who live in the same home. We realize that Ya jun studies really hard all the time and
deserved this wonderful opportunity. This
achievement has not come easily although he is
indeed gifted with great ability.
GREAT BARGAINS!
A vendor on the street was selling shirts for
only about $4 so we purchased five; little did
we know they would look so nice and be so
admired by all the boys. We went back hoping
to buy more but the seller was gone. Left to
right: Jian guang, Mu Yao dong, Hao peng,
Duan Zi heng and Zhai Zhi gang.
Lu Bo was so focused on enjoying his watermelon, just
enjoying every bite of it and making a lot of funny
noises of course. But as he was enjoying it so much he
was unaware that the other children were watching
with much amusement. Below Jin Ge is enjoying a
banana. It is so great we are able to furnish the
children with fruit in their diet every day.
~Kindness~
One of our
wonderful friends
in America sent us
several boxes of gifts. Li Ke, Feng Xiao yan, Jin Ke and Meng
Zhen organize them to give to the children. Included were
summer blankets which arrived at just the right time to be put
to use. Below are Jin Ge, Huai yu and Liu Shi ming delightfully
holding theirs. Our children are grateful for everything they
receive knowing they come from your great sacrifice and love.
To the right are Li jun and Jin ge looking as pretty as any little
princess in their new dresses. Li Jun still has the tag on her dress
that we were able to purchase from a vendor for only three
dollars. It is becoming harder and harder to find such great
bargains.
Our Family Is SO Bound Together!
Each home has both boys and girls of different
ages but all of the children are one big family!
Zhou Ping is such a strong moral young boy yet
learning seems to always be a great challenge.
Fu Ying li is exuberant all the time – full of
energy and talk and excels in school. Qian Jin
ke is a new child in the home and much younger
yet they are all happy with one another and
always encouraging one another.
Qian Jin bo is the twin brother of Qian Jin ke in the photo
above. He was slower at opening up when he came to the
home but as seen below he and Huai yu are now as close as
real brothers. Huai
yu is younger
than the other
boys but is very
clever and a year
ahead in his
grade level. Qian
Jin bo on the
other hand is
behind one grade
so they are now in
the same grade at school. Huai yu has a voracious appetite and is so happy living with all of us.
Jin Ge is so easily involved in activities all by herself. She will sit and practice writing Chinese
characters, read and look at books and simply enjoy every activity by herself as well as
with others. Please keep the children in your prayers – they are so dear and dependent
on us in every way.
