PROJECTS
Formula SAE Car: College Race Car Design Competition held by Society of Automotive Engineers (S.A.E.)
- Head suspension designer from 2005-8.
- Vice president for 2006-7 competition year. Oversaw design and construction of race car during absence of the president.
- President for 2007-8 competition year. Managed design of subsystems, subsystem integration and construction of race car.
Scheduled and ran team meetings.
- Used Susprog 3D for kinematic design and a combination of Solidworks, COSMOSWorks FEA, and MS Excel forpart design. - Modified a Visual Basic motorcycle suspension program embedded in MS Excel for FSAE rocker geometry design. Resulted in a reduction of iteration and suspension motion ratio calculation time.
- Created detailed drawings and consulted with machinists to ensure parts were feasible to machine and tolerances were reasonable.
- Machined parts on both mills and lathes.
- Designed crash impact attenuator for 2006-7 and 2007-8 cars using custom made MS Excel spreadsheet
to optimize stiffness to weight ratio.

Brake Dynamometer: California State University – Sacramento Senior Project
- Worked in a four student team to design and build a brake dynamometer used by the school’s Formula SAE team to verify brake
rotor heat transfer calculations.
- Solely defined design requirements and calculated inertia plate dimensions using custom made MS Excel spread sheet. - Designed dynamometer shaft and sized up shaft bearing.
- Project included a final presentation, concept selection matrix, subsystem design criteria, budget, and technical design report.
Solar Power Trailer: The Engineering Club (TEC) Semester Project at Santa Rosa Junior College
- Worked in a three member team to design and construct a solar trailer that powered Santa Rosa Junior College’s public
announcement system.
- Consulted with ceremony director for trailer design requirements.
- Served as vice president during design and construction process.

Cleaned shop on daily basis. Set up scale pad and helped corner weight and align Formula Ford race cars.
Disassembled ATL fuel tank, cleaned and inspected check valve, and preformed various other small shop tasks.
Recorded tire temperatures, helped unload race trailer, set up pit box, and pack trailer during customer test days.
