Planned Giving Brochure
I became part of the
“EDS Family” more than
30 years ago. My son
started kindergarten
here in 1983 and I have
been affiliated with the
school in some way or
another ever since. I
enrolled my children at
EDS because I thought
they would receive
the best academic
education Lake Charles
had to offer. What I
didn’t realize was that it was actually the moral and
spiritual values they received here that would have
the greatest impact upon their future. I believe it has
made a tremendous difference in their lives, as well
as in my own. This difference and the close family
atmosphere at EDS were the main reasons I chose
to come back here to work after my children were
grown. Over the years I learned the importance of
giving not only while we are here but also after we’re
gone. I have now set up a tuition bequest in my will
for EDS so that if anything should happen to me, I
have peace of mind knowing that it will continue on
into the future. I feel I am making a difference in one
child’s life that might not otherwise be able to attend
EDS.

current legacy donors
Planned giving allows you to make charitable gifts
now or as a part of your estate planning to a cause
that is important to you, while providing you with
many financial benefits, such as tax advantages and
safeguards for your future and your heirs. Unlike
cash donations, these gifts are made from assets in
your estate, such as bequests, life insurance, trusts,
pension plans, and charitable IRA rollovers.
These gifts will help provide the long-term financial
security Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School will
need to nurture and educate future generations of
students.
You will become a Legacy Donor when you make
a provision for Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School
in your will or estate plan and advise the school of
your intent. You will join others who have chosen to
support the mission and ministry of the school, now
and into the future with a lasting gift.
Achieving the mission of Bishop Noland Episcopal
Day School requires the financial support of many
who believe that a Bishop Noland Episcopal Day
School education allows our graduates to make
a difference in the world. Your donation can be
designated to three areas:
1.Eagle Fund - Provides direct funding for
educational initiations that tuition does not
cover. These gifts have an immediate and direct
benefit to each student and faculty member.
2.Faculty and Teacher Endowment - Allows us
to recruit and retain the brightest and best
teachers and provides professional development
opportunities to staff
3.Soaring to New Heights Capital Campaign
- Encompasses the master plan for the
expansion of EDS with a new South Campus to
accommodate an expanding middle school and a
future high school.
Many years ago, Dudie
and I were fortunate
enough to have a great
parish priest, Iveson
Noland, who performed
our marriage ceremony.
After his death, a very
wise group of people
resolved that the
school be named in his
honor. Our children and
grandchildren attended
and graduated from
EDS. They could not
have had a more satisfying and fulfilling educational
experience. My wish now is that EDS continues in its
great tradition. This is why I have designated my end
of life gifts to Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School. I
want the school to continue to be a gift to others for
generations.

Plan a gift that will
change lives for future
generations of students.
My husband Jim and I
have always felt that the
future largely depends
on a solid background
of varied education
for our young people.
I believe that Bishop
Noland Episcopal Day
School provides this for
its students. My husband
Jim served as chaplain of
EDS when he was curate
at The Church of the
Good Shepard. During
that time he formed lasting friendships with many
students and faculty. Therefore it is for these reasons
that, in memory of Jim, I have decided to purchase
an annuity with Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School
as the beneficiary. No greater gift can we give our
children and young people than to provide them with
an education that prepares them for a well-rounded
life. ~ Jody Reed
