FIRST DAILY TV PROGRAM:
A STUDY IN THE WORD
Editor's Note: After nearly 13 years of hosting The Campmeeting
Hour, Brother Swaggart felt led of the Lord to start a daily television
program. A Study in the Word debuted on Monday, May 4, 1981.
The transition of this teaching platform from radio to television was a
strong indicator of the ministry’s rapid growth. Today, 34 years after
its initial debut, A Study in the Word is a programming cornerstone
of the SonLife Broadcasting Network and is enjoyed by a worldwide
audience. In the following text, taken from the June 1981 issue of
The Evangelist, Brother Swaggart explains more about how A Study
in the Word came to be.
OUR WEEKLY TELECAST HAS been growing immeasurably in its
audience. It is remarkable to see what God is doing with it. Once
again, we give Him all the praise and the glory. About a year ago,
the Lord started dealing with me concerning a daily telecast. I sort of
put it out of my mind at first, but then it became so pronounced that I
knew God was speaking to my heart. At that time, I resolved that we
would do it, but I kept putting it off until the future. My plans were to
originate this program in our new television studio. Of course, it will
be over a year before our new studio is completed. However, when
the urging and the prompting of the Spirit of God became even more
pronounced, I told our television crew we had to begin production
immediately. Actually, the first two months’ programming of our daily
telecast, A Study in the Word, was done in my office. It was difficult,
but because we have such an excellent staff of TV technicians, we
were able to put it together.

Secondly, we have built a small studio across the street from the main
office. Even as I write this, it is being finished. Of course, we will
move the taping from my office into these facilities as quickly as possible. I said all that to say this: I felt the daily telecast was something
I had to do. I also felt the Holy Spirit wanted it to begin immediately.
VERY SIMILAR TO THE CAMPMEETING HOUR
Actually, A Study in the Word is very similar to our radio program,
except it is 30 minutes in length and is visual. Of course, the visual
part is what makes it so effective in reaching people. Statistics tell us
that we retain some 85 percent of what our eyes see. For example,
take our first series on the tabernacle. It is an in-depth study, and
I believe anyone who is fortunate enough to see and hear it will be
greatly and immeasurably blessed, in that we have been able to effect
in it that which we could not do over radio. We are able to show
pictures of the various implements in the tabernacle that literally
make the teaching come alive. I feel all the subjects we approach
can be done this way.

By declaring
Mary to be born
without the
human inclination
to sin, the
Catholic Church
makes her, in
effect, divine.
SOME SPECIFICS
LET US LOOK AT the doctrines of the immaculate conception (of Mary) and the assumption
of the Virgin Mary (into heaven).
The immaculate conception of Mary does not,
despite widespread belief to the contrary, insist
that Mary was also born of a virgin. It states
that Mary was uniquely, in all the aeons of
human history, the only person born without
original sin (the legacy of sin brought to us all
by Adam). By declaring Mary to be born without the human inclination to sin, the Catholic
Church makes her, in effect, divine, thereby,
constructing a quadrinity to replace the traditional Trinity. It adheres tenaciously to this
doctrine despite the irrefutable proof presented
by Mary’s own words:
“My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit has
rejoiced in God my Saviour” (Lk. 1:46-47).
Here Mary stated her actual need for a Saviour,
certifying herself to be human and, therefore,
a sinner.
Also, there is the matter of Mary being suddenly taken bodily into heaven. (We say
suddenly because no one knew about Mary’s
physical translation before it was unexpectedly
announced by the Vatican in 1950.)
The Bible does speak of two human beings who
were translated (taken up bodily), but these
were Elijah and Enoch. Unfortunately, there is
not a hint in Scripture of Mary having joined
this illustrious company. Again, however, as is
often the case, church officials within the Catholic faith do not let this trouble them. Once a

new doctrine has been announced ex cathedra,
it becomes “gospel truth” forever — even when
the announced fact contradicts the real truth
in the real gospel.
Then, there is the sacrifice of the Mass. Again,
we have here a basic Catholic doctrine, yet it is
totally contrary to what is taught in the Bible.
Further, there is papal infallibility, which has
no basis or hint of scriptural approval. As a
matter of fact, when Cornelius, a God-fearing
man, fell down at his feet, Peter (who is claimed
by the Catholic hierarchy as the prototype for
all popes) told him:
"Stand up; I myself also am a man” (Acts 10:26).
There is no hint of papal infallibility here.
Despite the fact that none of these beliefs have
any basis within Scripture, each is embraced
as official doctrine of the Catholic Church. As
stated, not only are these doctrines not scriptural,
but they also teach a false way to salvation:
“Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and
the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by Me”
(Jn. 14:6).
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the
sheep … He who enters not by the door into the
sheepfold, but climbs up some other way, the same
is a thief and a robber … I am the door: by Me if
any man enter in, he shall be saved” (Jn. 10:7, 1, 9).
As there is only one way to salvation (as delineated any number of places in the Bible), any
other system or method will cause untold millions of people to die lost. Obviously, church
(human) tradition has taken precedence over

FIRST: GOD LOVES YOU!
the Word of God within the Catholic Church, with awesome and eternal suffering the end product of adherence to such policies.
“For God so loved the world that he gave His only Begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but
have Everlasting Life” (Jn. 3:16).
SECOND: MAN IS A SINNER, AND SIN
HAS SEPARATED HIM FROM GOD
THE APOCRYPHA
The authorized version of the Bible consists of 66 books — from Genesis to Revelation. In the Catholic Bible, however, some of these books do not appear,
and other books are added. These spurious writings are considered by the
Catholic Church to be the Word of God. Eleven of these writings have been
accepted by the Catholic Church as inspired by God and are included in the
Roman Catholic canon. As such, they are found within the Douay Version,
which is the accepted Catholic Bible.
We believe these books are false, and here are the reasons:
»» As far as the Old Testament was concerned, these particular books were
not included in the Hebrew canon of Scripture.
»» None of these spurious writings (the Apocrypha) were ever quoted by the
Lord Jesus Christ, the Apostle Paul, or any of the other writers in the New
Testament. They did frequently quote from other books included within
the canon of Scripture.
»» Josephus, the widely respected Hebrew historian, expressly excluded them.
»» Divine inspiration is claimed by none of them.
»» The books known as the Apocrypha have historical, geographical, and
chronological errors.
»» For the most part, they teach and uphold doctrines that are contrary to
Scripture. For instance, lying is sanctioned in certain cases, and magic is
advocated and practiced in others.
»» As literature, they are considered to be myth and legend.
»» Their spiritual (and even moral) content is far below the standard of either
the Old Testament or the New Testament.
“For there is not a just man upon Earth, that doeth good and
sinneth not” (Eccl. 7:20).
“For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God”
(Rom. 3:23).
THIRD: JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY REMEDY FOR SIN
“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the
unjust, that He might bring us to God ...” (I Pet. 3:18).
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other
name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must
be saved” (Acts 4:12).
FOURTH: YOU MUST RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST
AS YOUR PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOUR
Jesus calls this experience the new bir th. He told
Nicodemus: “... Except a man be born again, he cannot
see the Kingdom of God” (Jn. 3:3).
We invite you now to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your
personal Saviour. “But as many as received Him, to them
gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them
that believe on His Name” (Jn. 1:12).
WE BELIEVE:
»»The Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative
written Word of God (Ps. 119; Mat. 4:4; Lk. 24:27).
»»There is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: God
the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (I Jn. 5:7).
»»In the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His Virgin Birth, in
His Sinless Life, in His Miracles, in His Vicarious and atoning
Death, in His Bodily Resurrection, in His Ascension to the
Right Hand of the Father, in His personal future return to
this Earth in Power and Glory to rule a thousand years (Jn.
1:1-4; Eph. 2:13-18; Rev., Chpts. 19-20).
»»In the Blessed Hope — the Rapture of the Church at Christ’s
Coming (I Thess. 4:13-18).
»»The only means of being cleansed from sin is through
Repentance and Faith in the Precious Blood of Christ (Rom.
5:1; Eph. 2:8-9, 13-18).
»»Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for
personal Salvation (Jn. 3:5-8; Titus 3:5).
»»The Redemptive Work of Christ on the Cross provides
Healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer
(Ex. 15:25-26; James 5:14-15; I Pet. 2:24).
»» In comparison to the Old Testament, the majority of these questionable
books were written much later than those considered to be authoritative
and inspired.
»»The Baptism with the Holy Spirit according to Acts 2:4 is
given to Believers who ask for it (Acts 2:4; 10:44-46; 19:1-7).
So, the Roman Catholic Church has added books to the generally accepted
Bible and has officially declared these books to be God-breathed and Godinspired, when they obviously are not.
»»In the Resurrection of both the saved and the lost: the one
to Everlasting Life and the other to everlasting damnation
(Rev. 20:5-6, 11-15).
THE CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS ATTEMPTED
TO KEEP THE BIBLE FROM HER MEMBERS
In pre-Reformation days, attempts by bold, individual Catholics to translate
and widely distribute the Bible in the common language were met with violent and harsh opposition from those in power within the Catholic Church.
During the Protestant Reformation, reformers (who did bring the Bible to the
people in the common languages of their areas) left the Roman authorities
aghast and violently opposed to such efforts.
During modern times, the Roman Catholic Church, in a lukewarm concession
to common views, has made the Bible available to its people, but has done

little to encourage Bible reading or to
develop real Bible knowledge among
practicing Catholics — even though it
professes to believe in the inspiration
and inerrancy of the Word of God.
In fact, in many countries where the
Catholic Church holds a dominant
position, reading or distributing the
Bible is still discouraged. Consequently,
lay Catholics — and, sorry to say, most
priests — remain totally ignorant of the
Word of God. They know a few isolated
verses (and these, more often than not,
are out of context), which are chosen
for distribution to the laity because
they appear to support Catholic doctrine. Otherwise, the Bible remains an
almost totally unknown book to the
average Catholic.
We have received scores of letters
from individual Catholics who have
questioned their priests about particular passages or doctrines and have
been told that they do not need to try
to interpret the Word of God for themselves; the priests will do it for them.
Consequently, they are still actively
discouraged from reading anything
in the Bible, and the reason they are
discouraged is that (as previously
stated) the Word of God is frequently
in direct opposition to Catholic traditions and beliefs. If the average
Catholic finds this out, it can be disturbing to him.
The Catholic Church teaches that the
layman should not read the Bible as it
may disturb him, but they do not go
into any depth of detail on just what
may disturb him. The sad fact is that
the average priest, who is supposed to
interpret the Bible for his flock, knows
little more about it than the layman.
To be brutally frank, I am sure there
must be some priests somewhere who do
have some Bible knowledge, but I have
never met one personally. They are
trained in Roman Catholic tradition,
but they are not trained in the Word
of God. Sadly, it would do little good if
they were given Bible training simply
because most priests are not saved!
I believe the foregoing demonstrates
why so many Catholic Charismatics deviate so far from Scripture when
they receive “experiences of the Spirit” to
replace the written Word. For example,
Catholic Charismatics often give utterances in tongues which, in the interpretation, exhort their followers to be more
faithful to Mary. In the written Word
of God, we find, however (and, here
again, based on the words of our ultimate spiritual authority, Jesus Christ):
“When the Comforter (the Holy Spirit)
is come, whom I will send unto you from
the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, which
proceeds from the Father, He shall testify
of Me” (Jn. 15:26).
Quite obviously, these supposed spiritual manifestations are being generated out of the mind of the speaker
and not from the promptings of the
Holy Spirit.
Why is this so common? It is because
the Catholic Charismatic rarely has
any solid biblical grounding on which
to judge his relationship with God.
Therefore, these “experiences of the
spirit” (which are not the Holy Spirit)
go in all directions. Every experience of the spirit must be based (and
judged) on the Word of God:
The average priest has never met the
Lord Jesus Christ as his own personal
Saviour. As a consequence, his training and orientation are intellectual
rather than spiritual. So, what we find,
even when the priest does endeavor
to share the Word with the laity, is
rather a shared ignorance — which
can be catastrophic.
Again, it is the old, old story:
“Can the blind lead the blind? shall they
not both fall into the ditch?” (Lk. 6:39).
“In the Law it is written, With men of
other tongues and other lips will I speak
unto this people … How is it then, brethren? when you come together, every one
of you has a psalm, has a doctrine, has
a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. If any man speak in an unknown
tongue, let it be by two, or at the most
by three, and that by course; and let one
interpret … Let the prophets speak two
or three, and let the other judge … The
spirits of the prophets are subject to the
prophets” (I Cor. 14:21-32).

THE INFALLIBLE INTERPRETER
OF THE BIBLE
As practiced within Roman Catholicism, the
Bible is a captive of the institutional church
hierarchy. There is no room whatsoever for the
marvelous operation of the Holy Spirit, who
illuminates the believer and quickens the Word
to him as He empowers that believer to discern
and interpret.
Instead, we have the Catholic Church, which
considers itself to be infallible in its interpretation of the Bible, acting as the ultimate and
unquestionable authority over its own pronouncements. We thus have a situation where
the same body who issues statements certifies
them as scriptural — even when they are obviously direct contradictions of the Word of God!
When this unusual situation is pointed out
to Catholic authorities, however, they simply
state that the church is infallible.
So, where is the problem?
The problem obviously lies in the fact that
individuals are actively discouraged from
delving into God’s Word themselves and thus
developing a personal relationship with Jesus
Christ. Instead, they are advised to leave this
“potentially dangerous” or “potentially disturbing” practice to the “experts.” When they
do, they then are delivered a product that is
certified by the same people who prepared it.
Is it surprising that hundreds of millions of
people are led astray?
One former Catholic priest stated, “I do not
ever recall seeing a Bible in any Catholic grade
school I attended.” He went on to say that the
first Bible he ever saw was carried by a Protestant youngster as he made his way to Sunday
school. Actually, the Bible (in practice if not
in principle) is effectively excluded from all
Catholic worship, that is, with the exception
of those brief and safe passages read every
Sunday as “the gospel.”
In conclusion, the foundational beliefs of the
Catholic Church are built not on the Word
of God but on the traditions of men. Having
made a number of statements that the liberal
press and the Catholic hierarchy will seize
upon as anti-Catholic, rather than close this
chapter with something out of my own mind,
I will quote the ultimate authority on all spiritual matters, Jesus Christ:

you may keep your own tradition” (Mk. 7:9).
Also, as the psalmist David said:

all religious beliefs. If it is not, any kind of
bizarre deviation can be made to appear as
solid asphalt for those trying to find the road
to God. Basically this is the problem within
the Catholic Church. It has almost totally
abandoned God’s Word (if it ever knew it).
Church tradition has become the foundational underpinning for all Catholic tenets of
belief, and where the foundation is rotten, all
else is suspect.

You have just read a portion of a sermon on the
rapture that my husband preached in Charleston,
West Virginia, in 1982—a subject more timely
than ever. On nearly every episode of Frances
& Friends, the panel and I respond to emails and
calls from viewers who want to know about endtime events, especially the first major one — the
rapture of the church.
WHAT EXACTLY IS THE RAPTURE?
What does the Bible say about this monumental
event? Let’s look at I Thessalonians, Chapter 4 in
the Expositor’s Study Bible (the notes in red are
excellent), beginning with verse 13:
“13
“ But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are
asleep (refers to believers who have died),
that you sorrow not, even as others which
have no hope. (This concerns those who do
not know the Lord who will have no part in
the first resurrection of life and, therefore,
no hope for heaven.)
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and
rose again (the very foundation of Christianity is the death and resurrection of
Christ; it is the proof of life after death in
a glorified state for all saints in that life,
which incidentally will never end), even so
them also which sleep in Jesus will God

bring with Him. (This refers to the rapture
of the Church, or the resurrection of all
believers, with both phrases meaning the
same thing, even as Paul describes in I Cor.,
Chpt. 15. At death, the soul and the spirit
of the child of God instantly go to be with
Jesus [Phil. 1:23], while the physical body
goes back to dust. At the rapture, God will
replace what was the physical body with
a glorified body, united with the soul and
the spirit. In fact, the soul and the spirit of
each individual will accompany the Lord
down close to this Earth to be united with
a glorified body, which will then make the
believer whole.)
15 For this we say unto you by the word
of the Lord (presents the doctrine of the
rapture of the church as the “word of the
Lord”), that we which are alive and remain
unto the coming of the Lord (all believers
who are alive at the rapture) shall not prevent them which are asleep. (This refers to
the fact that the living saints will not precede or go before the dead saints.)

God (doesn’t exactly say God will personally blow this trumpet, but that it definitely
does belong to Him, whoever does signal
the blast): and the dead in Christ shall rise
first (the criteria for being ready for the
rapture is to be “in Christ,” which means
that all who are truly born again will definitely go in the rapture):
17 Then we which are alive and remain
shall be caught up (raptured) together with
them (the resurrected dead) in the clouds
(clouds of saints, not clouds as we normally
think of such), to meet the Lord in the air
(the Greek word for air is “aer,” and refers
to the lower atmosphere, or from about
6,000 feet down; so, the Lord will come at
least within 6,000 feet of the earth, perhaps even lower, with all the saints meeting Him there; but He, at that time, will not
come all the way to the earth, that awaiting
the second coming, which will be seven or
more years later): and so shall we ever be
with the Lord. (This presents the greatest
meeting humanity will have ever known.)"
their bodies were somehow destroyed in death by
fire, water, etc. At the moment of the rapture, each
body will be whole, glorified, and reunited with
the soul and the spirit. At this point, Christians will
no longer have a sin nature, that’s the fulfillment
in totality of what Jesus purchased on the Cross.
That’s why it’s called the blessed hope.
RAPTURE VERSUS THE SECOND COMING
The second coming is totally different from the
rapture, as you can see from the chart on this page.
»» In the rapture, Jesus Christ won’t touch the
earth. In the second coming, He will set His feet
upon Mount Olivet.
»» In the rapture, Jesus will come for His children.
In the second coming, He will come with His
children.
»» When the rapture takes place, not a soul on this
earth will see Him. At the second coming, every
eye shall behold Him.
RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH
1. It occurs before the tribulation
THE RAPTURE IS RESURRECTION
The Scripture says that the Lord will come Himself.
Why? Because it is one more demonstration of His
tremendous love for us. He could send heaven’s
highest-ranking angel, or a host of angels in His
place, but no. He’s coming to personally gather
us because He loves us. He loves His church. He
loves His people.
Regarding when He comes “with a shout,” this is a
victory shout. It is victory over the world, the flesh,
and the Devil; victory over death, and victory over
every thing that hell has ever tried to do to steal,
kill, and destroy. Who will hear this victory shout?
Well, the dead in Christ will hear it. The saints of
God will hear it. The world will not hear it. But
every child of God will hear that shout of victory.
The purpose of the rapture is to resurrect all the
righteous dead. We cannot separate the rapture
of the church from the resurrection. As the Scripture says, the dead in Christ are going to rise
first. That means the bodies of every saint who
died — from the time of Adam to the moment
before the rapture occurs — will rise, regardless if

WHO WILL GO IN THE RAPTURE?
Let me pause here to answer another question
I’m asked quite often about children and the
rapture. We believe that babies and all small
children whose mother and/or father belong to
the Lord will be included in the rapture, according to I Corinthians 7:14. In my husband’s book,
Brother Swaggart, Here Is My Question About
Bible Prophecy, he goes into much greater detail
about this and other aspects of the rapture.

He also defines the one qualification
for being ready for the rapture and
that is to be born again, i.e., to be “in
Christ” (I Thess. 4:16). Let me quote a
little more from his book on this particular subject as I think it will help you:
The previous night a brutal murder
had occurred. The funeral, it turned
out, was to be held in this church
the next morning. Slowly, the
story of the murder victim began
to come out.
There is no such thing as a partial justification. One is either totally justified or not justified at all. While some
Christians most definitely are closer
to the Lord than others, still, all will
go. Yet there are millions in churches
who think they are born again, when,
in reality they aren’t. In fact, in the
United States alone, I am told that
approximately 100 million people
claim to be born again. I would to
God that were so, but I’m certain that
it’s not. As to exactly how many are
truly saved in this particular country,
only the Lord knows, as He is the
only one who knows regarding the
entirety of His body, and wherever
in the world they might be.
She was a young girl of about 18.
At one time, she had attended
this church. In fact, she had been
raised within the church because
her parents were deeply committed
children of God. She had accepted
Jesus Christ into her heart and life
at an early age.
The Holy Spirit likens those who
were once saved but now construed
as lukewarm, as being labeled by the
Lord as lost.
Jesus said, “I know thy works, that
thou art neither cold nor hot: I
would thou wert cold or hot. So
then because thou art lukewarm,
and neither cold nor hot, I will spue
thee out of my mouth” (Rev. 3:15-16).
Paul addressed those who were
religious, but who were not saved,
regardless of what they claimed,
as “having a form of godliness, but
denying the power thereof.” He
then said, “from such turn away”
(II Tim. 3:5). Regrettably and sadly,
millions fit this description.”
This brings to mind a story from our
early days in ministry, a tragic story,
which my husband shared with me
when it happened, and with the world in
one of his sermons. He told it this way:

But something happened. As she
grew older, she took her eyes away
from the Lord and the healthy
associations of the church. She
began spending time with a worldly
crowd which knew nothing of the
Lord Jesus Christ and the things He
stands for.
A long time ago, Frances and I were
in a midwestern state preaching a
revival. This was a great church.
The pastor was a great man of
God. We were there for about
four weeks. And one night after
service was over, and the congregation had drifted off, I happened
to walk past the open door of the
pastor’s office.
I had some time before Frances
was to pick me up so I paused
in the office to make small talk.
When I entered, though, I could
see the pastor was in no mood for
trivialities. His head was buried in
his hands and his expression was
deeply troubled. I asked if there
was something I could do. He
shook his head sadly and said there
was nothing anyone could do.
On the previous night (as the police
pieced the story together), she
had been dancing with a young
man. They had both been drinking. He took her home, and when
he parked before her apartment,
began making advances. She
repulsed him and, irrational because
of the drinks he’d had, he became
incensed and began to strike her.
He happened to be wearing a large
ring on his right hand. As he struck
her repeatedly, the ring tore her
face to ribbons. He beat her until
she was dead — and then continued
beating her for a long time after
she was dead. The police had little
trouble finding him and establishing that it was, indeed, he who had
committed the crime. When they
picked him up, he was almost out of
his mind with remorse. He apparently could not come to terms with
the fact that he had actually done it.
If he could have had the chance to
undo it, I’m sure he would have. But this didn’t
change the facts. She was dead, and he was
a murderer in God’s sight.
her, I strengthened her, I smoothed her
path, I shepherded her. But she rejected
me. She walked away the moment the world
beckoned. She rejected my guidance in the
things which would have strengthened her.
She couldn’t be bothered with the things that
strengthen My children against the contrary
winds. And once she wandered from the
path and entered the undergrowth, she lost
her way completely. Satan overtook and the
door is now eternally closed.”
The pastor shook his head as he thought of
having to preach the funeral sermon for this
girl who had once been saved and who had
died in this sordid way. She was a victim of
her own desire to turn her attention to the
shabby things of the world. As I slipped out
of the office, he was still staring off into space
and shaking his head.
The following morning, I came to the church
early to pray for a time, as was my usual practice. The incident had slipped from my mind
as I entered the church and made my way up
to the balcony which offered a serene atmosphere in which to commune with God.
During the course of my praying, I raised my
eyes and they fell on the front of the church. I
was startled to see the unaccustomed sight of
a casket by the altar rail. I had forgotten about
the funeral, and besides, it wasn’t customary to
bring the casket in until just before the service.
I suddenly felt led to walk downstairs and move
forward to stand next to that casket.
As I stood there, the words of the pastor flowed
through my mind. What a tragic waste. A
saved, born-again child of God, turning away
from her eternal reward and casting herself
into the sordid pit of the world where her only
reward was to be this squalid death.
Was she saved? How can we know? Perhaps
at the last moment she cried to God for help.
Perhaps her last living thoughts were a cry to
the Lord for mercy and forgiveness. If this was
the case, I’m sure the Lord’s arms enveloped
her immediately. Unfortunately, I am not at all
convinced this was what happened.
The reason I question her deathbed salvation
was because a tremendous moving of the Holy
Spirit suddenly shook me. I started to weep.
And this is what I believe God said to me. The
words were somber, but I believe they were
God’s words and I shall never forget them.
“She used to be mine,” the words formed
themselves inside my head. “I lived with

once been in the faith. When we speak of faith
here at the ministry, we’re speaking of faith in the
Cross of the Lord Jesus Christ. When people
leave the Cross and turn to other things, which
millions are now doing, the Scripture says of
them: “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in
the latter times some shall depart from the faith,
giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of
devils” (I Tim. 4:1).
Needless to say, such individuals, as with the
lukewarm and as with those who have a form of
godliness, are labeled by the Lord as unsaved,
despite their claims, and will not go in the rapture.

Of course we cannot accomplish such a monumental task on our own. We need your help to bring in
the harvest. Jesus said, “The harvest truly is great,
but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord
of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers
into his harvest” (Luke 10:2).

Look around,
church, and
listen, the Holy
Spirit is getting
people ready for
the rapture.
But instead of working, people want signs. Over
the years, those inside and outside of the church
have tried to point to signs or determine a date as
to when the rapture will take place.
I believe that the greatest sign that the rapture is
about to take place is the outpouring of the Holy
Spirit upon the body of Christ as prophesied in
Joel 2:28-29. This outpouring is becoming more
and more evident through the testimonies we hear
over the SonLife Broadcasting Network from so
many Christians being filled with the Holy Spirit.
You see, the Cross of Jesus Christ separates the
child of God from the world, but the baptism of
the Holy Spirit separates the Christian from dead
religion and false doctrines.
Look around, church, and listen, the Holy Spirit is
getting people ready for the rapture. The Lord is
drawing people and equipping them to labor in
the harvest of souls. As I heard my husband say
on his program, A Study in the Word, he believes
the Lord is raising up prayer warriors around the
world, like the men of war in I Chronicles 12:38
who could keep rank and who came to help with
a perfect heart.
OCCUPY TILL I COME
I think every believer who is “in Christ” senses that
the Lord is coming soon. He is coming, just as He
said, and we will see our Saviour face to face. Think
of that. As wonderful and glorious as it will be to
finally see the Lord, we will also, at the same time,
be reunited with our saved loved ones who have
gone on before us. Hallelujah!
Until that day comes, we work. We labor in the
harvest so that millions more can experience the
blessed hope.
Jesus said, “And he called his ten servants, and
delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them,
Occupy till I come” (Luke 19:13).

Psalms 107:15-20 – “Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He has broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars
of iron in sunder. Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are
afflicted. Their soul abhors all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.
Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and He saves them out of their distresses. He
sent His Word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

PSALM 107 IS THE first psalm of the fifth book of
the Psalms, which corresponds to the fifth book
of the Pentateuch (Deuteronomy). The divine title
for that book is “These Are the Words.” Israel
was about to take possession of Canaan and was
promised prosperity if they would be obedient to
the Word of God, but slavery, affliction, and banishment were promised for disobedience (Deut.,
Chpt. 28). The message of book five of the Psalms
is similar, but the circumstances are different.
George Williams states, “Prosperity is shown to
be dependent upon acceptance of the Word of
God as the rule of life. But the message is not now
directed to a new and untried people, but instead,
to a tested, rebellious, and fallen people.”
In other words, the book of Deuteronomy was
directed toward a people who were about to possess the Promised Land; however, this last and fifth
book of the Psalms is directed toward fallen Israel,
which will ultimately be brought back to God and
to total possession of the Promised Land.
There are great truths found in the verses of this
text, truths of which all believers should constantly
be aware.
PRAISE
Verse 15 states, “Oh that men would praise the
Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works
to the children of men!”
The theme of the book of Psalms is “truth, worship, and praise.” The emphasis the Lord places
on praising Him is reinforced by the fact that this
verse is repeated four times in this one chapter
(Vss. 8, 15, 21, 31). The Holy Spirit did this for a
reason. Praise should be the hallmark of every
believer. We all have so much for which to praise
the Lord. The heart of praise should be and must
be centered around our redemption. The greatest
thing the Lord has done for all of us was to die on
Calvary’s Cross to atone for man’s sin and rebellion. The very fact that we are saved should ever
be a constant awareness for the believer.
The goodness of the Lord has been proven by Calvary. Calvary was and is the greatest example of
God’s love and kindness, therefore, our daily living
for the Lord should be guided by our constant praise.
The verse uses the term “wonderful works.” Notice
the plurality of the word works. The goodness and

greatness of the Lord is proven by all that the Lord
does for us. His goodness not only has brought us
salvation for the soul, but also healing, prosperity,
and emotional well-being as well. When the Lord
died on Calvary, He died not only to save us, but
also, that we might be recipients of His blessings.
Praise unto the Lord should flow out of us like the
waters of Niagara Falls — constant, never ending,
and bountiful.
BROKEN
Verse 16 states, “For He has broken the gates of
brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.” Gates of
brass and bars of iron speak of the terrible bondages of sin. Man in his own strength is completely
helpless in the breaking of these bondages through
man’s schemes and fads. The only way the gates
of brass and bars of iron can be broken is through
the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
This is what Calvary was all about. It took the
Cross to set the captive free because it was at
Calvary that Jesus atoned for all sin — past, present, and future — at least for those who will believe
and accept.
FOOLS
Verses 17 and 18 say, “Fools because of their
transgression, and because of their iniquities, are
afflicted. Their soul abhors all manner of meat; and
they draw near unto the gates of death.”
The Holy Spirit in no uncertain terms calls all socalled Christians “fools” who try to bring about
deliverance and victory by bypassing Calvary. The
Cross is where our victory is found, and to try and
bring about victory any other way identifies us as
fools in the eyes of God.
The word meat in Verse 18 refers to the Word of
God (I Cor. 3:2, 10:3; Heb. 5:12, 14). Israel did
not want the meat of the Word, and their rebellion against God’s Word brought to them spiritual
death, and it is the same today. The modern church
abhors all manner of meat, opting instead for the
poisonous pottage of man’s creation (II Ki. 4:38-41).
Man’s schemes always bring death and destruction. The Lord’s way, the way of Calvary, always
brings life.
CRY UNTO THE LORD
Verse 19 says, “Then they cry unto the Lord in their
trouble, and He saves them out of their distresses.”
This verse is also repeated four times in this chapter
(Vss. 6, 13, 19, 28). In this verse, we find the very
heart and nature of the Lord. No matter how much
we fail and act foolishly, when we call unto the Lord,
with a heart of mercy and grace, the Lord answers and
“saves them out of their distresses.” The Holy Spirit
implores us to “praise the Lord for His goodness.”
HE SENT HIS WORD
Verse 20 is one of the most beautiful passages in
the Word of God. In this one verse, we find the
entire plan of salvation. Man was born into sin
and doomed to an eternal hell with no way to save
himself, but God “sent His Word” (Christ is the
living Word [Jn. 1:1-5]) to die on Calvary’s Cross
to redeem man from the curse of sin. He didn’t
have to do this, but His love for fallen man brought
Him to Golgatha to be the only sacrifice God the
Father would accept.
While the word healed can refer to physical healing,
its true meaning refers to sin. Sin is the disease of
man’s heart and soul, a disease so great that no medicine made by man can effect a cure. But through
the sacrificial offering of Christ on Calvary’s Cross, His
blood brought about the only cure for this disease.
The song says, “His blood still sets men free.”
The word heal, as used here, means in the Hebrew
“to make fresh.” In II Cor. 5:17, Paul said, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are
become new.” When one is saved, he is made fresh,
a “new creature.” He heals us from sin and delivers
us from the destructive powers of sin.
What an almighty God we serve!

DEAR EVANGELIST: We ordered 13 Read-n-Grow Picture
Bibles for Christmas gifts. All grandkids and one greatgrandbaby all got a Bible. The 2-year-old, Charlie, gets his
Bible when its bedtime and curls up for Dad to read to him.
The 12-year-old, Bobby, lives with me and we try to read our
Bibles together every night. Tonight, February 5th, I asked
a question and he went to his Read-n-Grow and found the
answer and read it to me — one proud Nana! I didn’t know
the answer but he sure did and got his Bible and read me

Acts 1:4-5, 8 – “And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart
from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, said He, you have heard of Me.
For John truly baptized with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days hence.
But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit has come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto Me
both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the Earth.”
At this present
time, the church
for the most part
has lost that
power, and as
a result, it is in
worse condition
than it has ever
been since the
Reformation.
THE BOOK OF ACTS is meant to portray what
the church ought to be, should be, and must be.
The church was born in power and because of
that, it must remain in power in order to perform
the task that the Holy Spirit has set out for the
church to accomplish. Nevertheless, at this present time, the church for the most part has lost
that power, and as a result, it is in worse condition
than it has ever been since the Reformation. It
has resulted in our Pentecostal denominations
shying away from their roots to the point of
ordaining ministers to preach in their churches
who have not yet received the baptism with the
Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with
other tongues. In reality, it does not see the point
of it. These same ones state in their own words
that they do not see what the big deal is regarding the baptism with the Holy Spirit. Therefore,
we are going to look at why the believer must go
on to receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit after
his initial salvation experience, and we will see
just how big of a deal that it really is.
THE HOLY SPIRIT DREW THE BLUEPRINTS
To begin with, it must be understood that it
was the Holy Spirit and not man who drew the

blueprints, so to speak, of what the church
ought to be. No man-made denomination
did that. It was the doing of the Holy Spirit,
for it was He who set the parameters, set the
course, and described the method. The early
church was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and
if the modern church does not abide by the
earmarks set out by the Holy Spirit, then the
church cannot be looked at by God as a New
Testament church. Those earmarks are set out
as the following and must be preached from
behind the pulpit for God to recognize it as a
New Testament church:
1. Salvation by the blood of Jesus Christ
alone should be preached and not works
(Acts 20:28; Rom. 3:25; Eph. 1:7; Col. 1:14).
2. The baptism with the Holy Spirit with the
evidence of speaking with other tongues
(Acts 2:1-4; 10:44-48; 19:1-7).
3. Divine healing by the power of God
(Acts 3:11; Mk. 16:18-20; James 5:14-15;
I Pet. 2:24).

If the church is to be the church, the great doctrines mentioned must be preached and practiced,
for this is what the Holy Spirit desires. I believe that
if the church fails to adhere to the desires of the
Holy Spirit, then one must conclude that whatever
is going on is not of the Spirit but of man, which
would conclude it as worthless.
THE COMMAND GIVEN BY CHRIST
Secondly, the baptism with the Holy Spirit was commanded by Jesus Christ. In fact, when we read the
account of Acts, Chapter 1, we must surmise that
the very last words of Christ given to His disciples
before His ascension were that they be filled with
the Holy Spirit. This was not a mere suggestion nor
a question, but rather it was a command. The word
command is a strong military term and means to
charge. Because of this, it is something to which we
must adhere. The question must be asked: Is this
command still relevant for today? Yes, it is! If you
are saved, then you are a disciple of Jesus Christ,
and as a result, the same words by Christ given to
the 500 that day are applicable today.
This is of such importance that, in essence, Christ was
telling not only His disciples then, but also us today,
to not build churches, evangelize, or hold meetings
until first being endued with power from on high.
ANOTHER COMFORTER
Why was He commanding His disciples to be filled
with the Spirit? We can gather the answer from
John, Chapter 14, where Jesus told His disciples
that He would be going away, but He would send
“another Comforter” to be with them, to lead them,
to guide them, and to steer them in the right direction. The Comforter of whom Christ was referring
was the Holy Spirit, who would come to reside in the
hearts and lives of the believer after the sin debt was
paid by Jesus Christ through what He would accomplish on the Cross. At the same time, His disciples
did not need the Holy Spirit at that time, for Christ
was with them to meet their every need. However,
once Christ would ascend, He would not be there
in the flesh as He once was, but they would need
something, or rather Someone, to be with them, to
reside with them, and to give them power to fulfill
the purpose of God. When the Cross became a
reality, the stage was set for the Holy Spirit to fall
upon the followers of Christ in a new dimension that
had never before been seen on earth.
POWER
With all of this said, I believe that outside of the
command given by Christ, the most important
reason that we need the baptism with the Holy
Spirit is for power. Christ said, “You shall receive
power.” Power in the Greek is dunamis, which
means “miracle-working power,” and means to
make possible or able that which was not heretofore so! This means that, in actuality, this inherent power is capable of reproducing itself like a
dynamo (II Peter 1:3). As well, it means that a
power plant has moved inside of the believer, and
this perpetual power has no outside sources. It
has come into the life of the believer in the form of
God the Holy Spirit, and there is no way that Satan
or any demon spirit can get at this “source” if the
believer truly follows the Lord. At the same time,
the same power that raised Christ from the dead is
now residing on the inside of us! How great is that?

This power that is now working on the inside of
us, regarding the baptism with the Holy Spirit, is
to be used:
1. To destroy the works of the Devil (I John 3:8).
2. To take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the
entirety of the world.
3. To equip the believer for service.

the things of God.
THE TRUE MESSAGE OF grace is a message that must be heard by the modern
church. For centuries an incorrect view of law
and its purpose has placed the Protestant
church in horrific bondage. We have mistakenly assumed that we could be saved by faith
and then later, sanctified by religious efforts,
by works, or by consecration to the things
of God. Nothing could be more inaccurate.
The truth is, we are progressively sanctified
in the same manner in which we are saved.
With the object of our faith centered upon
the person of Christ and the finished work
of Christ, the Holy Spirit becomes free to
maneuver, to change, to take out, and to
add all that is needed relative to the heart
of the believer. So, I applaud every voice
and every Christian who proclaims loudly
and clearly that the process of grace and
faith is the proper process necessary for
Christian growth.
However, I am saddened to have to say that
in the last 10 years, several major platforms
have been raised up for voices preaching
a message of grace. They are moving the
believer from faith in works to faith in Christ,
and for this I am grateful to the Lord.
However, some very grievous doctrines have
begun to surface in some of the platforms

proclaiming grace. I am sure that this is
Satan’s effort to belittle and besmirch the true
message of grace, the Message of the Cross.
COVERING YOUR SIN
Sin is always the problem that faces humanity. It matters not whether you have been
saved for 30 years or three minutes, sin is
still the problem. The believer, not yet in
a glorified state, has a sin nature remaining
within him that contains the potential for
dominating him if it is not addressed properly. Romans, Chapter 6, teaches us that the
power of the sin nature remains dormant and
will not affect the believer whose faith is in
Christ and Him crucified.
However, even with the sin nature silenced,
the capability for sinning, or missing the
mark, still exists. If we ignore sin, either
acts of sin or the sin nature, the results are
disastrous. While it is true that justification
is not reversed by an act of sin, it is also
true that justification can be reversed if our
faith fails. Unconfessed sin eats away at the
fabric of our faith and weakens our relationship with God.
Some are teaching that there is no need to
confess one’s sins unto the Lord. They teach
that confessing something with which God
has already dealt at Calvary is a sign of unbelief. How
horribly wrong that is! An unwillingness to wash away
your sin in the constant flow of Christ's intermediary work
is an act of unbelief, not properly confessing your fault
to God. I am 100 percent sure that when I take my sin
to Jesus, He washes me white as snow. I do not move in
and out of salvation every time I fail the Lord. Justification is a far more powerful truth than that.
However, if I fail to confess my sin, my relationship to the
Lord is greatly impeded, much like a friend whom you
have offended. If the situation isn't amended, it's very
likely that the relationship will begin to fail.

Not only are we to repent of our sin unto the Lord, but we
are also to forsake it. This always requires more power
than any human can muster. The worst thing that we
could do is attempt to ignore the problem based on a
faulty doctrine.
Grace not only opens up the door for me to be forgiven,
it is also the power by which I overcome the sin and
weight that is presently coming against me. Once I
have confessed, I also need to be granted the delivering
power from God to overcome these issues. None of this
is possible when I ignore my problems or push away the
convicting power of the Holy Spirit. He guides me into
all truth, both right and wrong!
FAILURE TO PROSPER
It is impossible to be blessed when we violate God's
procedures or instructions. Believers should quickly realize that God will often hold back blessings from us when
we fail to acknowledge or be honest about our current
condition. If I view sin in a wrong way, or if I fail to correct
my problems in the means outlined in Scripture, I can
guarantee that spiritual prosperity, physical well-being,
and financial gain will be hindered or even eliminated.
The Bible doesn’t teach that failing to prosper is a sin.
However, many times, it does reveal to us that sin can
cause the lack of prosperity. There is no hope of prospering biblically without adhering to all of the process
regarding salvation.
Confession of our sins is not to be ignored, made fun
of, or rejected. It is to be practiced. After confession of
sin, we are to continually believe God for the delivering
power needed to free us permanently from the act(s) of
sin we have committed.

THE ISLAMIC MIDDLE EAST by john rosenstern
THE BIBLE SPEAKS OF the escalation of wars and rumors of wars in these last days. God’s Word also
speaks of nations becoming confederate to cut Israel off from being a nation. The events happening in
the Middle East are shaping the nations that will play a part in God’s prophetic plan.
There’s no doubt
the world is vastly
changing, and
with Islam being
a major catalyst.
Countries like Libya, Egypt, and Ethiopia are mentioned by Daniel the prophet 2,500 years ago.
Syria, Lebanon, Philistia, modern day Gaza, Iran
(formerly known as Persia), Turkey, and many other
Middle Eastern nations are also specifically mentioned as players in the last scene of this age. The
one thing that all these nations have in common is
Islam. There’s no doubt the world is vastly changing, and with Islam being a major catalyst. To better
understand this, let’s examine the role of Islam in
the Middle East by looking at some of its origins
and governing law known as Sharia law.
THE SPIRIT OF ISLAM
The spirit and character of Ishmael and his descendants is described in the Bible in Genesis 16:12.
From The Expositor’s Study Bible, we read:
“And
“
he will be a wild man; his hand will be
against every man, and every man’s hand
against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren. (These predictions
describe the Arab people perfectly. They
cannot get along with anyone in the world,
and they cannot even get along among
themselves. The descendants of Ishmael
dwell in the presence of all his brethren
[Israel], but do not subdue them and, in
fact, never will subdue them!)”
The literal translation reads, “And he is a wild-ass
man, his hand against every one, and every one’s
hand against him—and before the face of all his
brethren he dwelleth” (Young’s Literal Translation).
This aptly describes the spirit of those who follow

ouin was embroidered into Muhammad’s Islamic
dream. The hero image of the warrior male, and
submissive women who were their rewards, characterized the essence of male glorification and
mistreatment of women. The use of the word Islam
since the time of Muhammad means submission
but, before Muhammad, it meant “warrior-like.”
Changing the use of the word did not change the
spirit behind it.
Today, the nations of the Middle East have predominately remained uncivilized. Nearly 70 percent of the world’s Islamic population is illiterate.
Many Muslims quote the verses of the Koran in
their prayers with little comprehension of what it
says or means. Their religious zeal can often be
manipulated and aroused to jihad by a perceived
threat or alleged criticism of its Prophet Muhammad or religious book.
SHARIA SOURCE AND DEFINITIONS
The term Sharia literally means “the path to a
watering hole.” To a Muslim, Sharia is a religious
code for living. Sharia is used to refer both to the
Islamic system of law and the totality of the Islamic
way of life. Sharia is derived both from the teachings of the Koran and the Sunna, which is referred
to as Islamic custom and practice; particularly that
which is associated with the exemplary life of the
Prophet Muhammad, comprising of his deeds
and the utterances as recorded in the hadith. The
word hadith literally means “report” or “narrative.”
Whatever Muhammad said or did is what a Muslim
says or does. The way he fought, treated others,
and even the manner of how he cleaned himself is

closely followed or imitated. Islam can
be better understood by the West as the
“cult of Muhammad.” Although he is
not to be worshipped as God, Muslims
around the world will defend his honor
above the name of their god, Allah.
FOUNDERS AND SCHOOLS OF
ISLAM THAT FORMED SHARIA
There are two predominate recognized founders of Sharia law in Islam.
Although their names may not have
great significance to the reader, I will
mention them for clarity of understanding — Malik ibn Anas and Ibn al-Shaf’i.
The first established the Maliki School of
Jurisprudence and relied heavily on the
hadith to establish how a Muslim should
live. Al-Shaf’I was one of his students
and disagreed in part with his teacher
about the reliability of the hadiths. He
felt that it was necessary to trace each
hadith from the time of Muhammad
through its chain of devout followers.
Out of this suggestion Muslim scholars
began to question which hadith were
true and which were not. The conflicts
amongst scholars led to different applications of Islamic law.
To add to the evolution of Islamic
Sharia law, Ibn al-Shaf’i promoted
the idea of reasoning by analogy to
develop new laws from existing laws.
He also incorporated a technique of
accepting consensus of the Muslim
community. His reasoning was that
Allah would not allow an entire community to be in error on a basic Islamic
principle. This is what is so confusing to the West when dealing with
Muslims. Here in the United States
of America, Islam is recognized as
just another religion and we should
champion its freedom to practice its
expression of worship. True adherents to Islam know that Islam goes
beyond just worship and incorporates
all aspects of their lives. In other
words, a Muslim cannot be limited to
just worship; he must ever be seeking
to establish Sharia law to govern his
whole life and thinking.
STRATEGY OF MUSLIMS
TO OBTAIN SHARIA IN
SECULAR SOCIETIES
The reader must never underestimate
the goal of Muslims in the United States
to establish Sharia law. The first step is
for them to create a dual legal system.
Many majority Muslim countries have a
dual legal system in which the government is secular, but Muslims can choose
to bring familial and financial disputes
to Sharia courts.
Examples of this can be seen in Nigeria
and Kenya, which have Sharia courts
that rule on family law for Muslims.
In Tanzania, civil courts apply Sharia
law or secular law according to the
religious backgrounds of the defendants. Lebanon and Indonesia have a
mixed jurisdiction of courts based on
residential colonial legal systems and
supplemented with Sharia law. Qatar
officially uses a dual legal system.
Their civil courts operate independently of the Sharia system to legislate
secular laws.
In 2008, Britain allowed Sharia tribunals
governing marriage, divorce, and inheritance to make legally binding decisions
if both parties agreed. The controversial Arch Bishop of Canterbury, Roman
Williams, argued that this would help
“maintain cohesion” in European societies increasingly divided by religion.
Today, just seven years later, we see all
too clearly what this type of inclusive
decision-making has reaped in Britain
and Europe.
SHARIA IN AMERICA
Sharia is creeping into America and our
legal system is beginning to recognize
it. Recall Tampa, Florida, where a dispute arose over who controls the funds
a mosque received in 2008 from an eminent domain proceeding. Former trustees of the mosque claimed they had the
right to those funds. Mosque leaders
disputing that claim wanted the case
decided according to secular Florida
civil law, and their attorney argued the
case accordingly. The former trustees of
the mosque wanted the case decided
according to Sharia law. But here’s the
kicker: the judge ruled saying, “This
case will proceed under Ecclesiastical
Islamic law,” (Sharia law), “pursuant to
the Qur’an.”
Recent examples include the Islamic
Tribunal Court that opened in Irving
Texas. Members of the newly established court asserted that the purpose
of the Tribunal is to give an Islamic
perspective on how Muslims should
act. “We are not here to invade the
White House or invade Austin …We
are humble and want to settle a problem between Muslims,” said Imam
Moujahed Bakhach. Voluntary or not,
Sharia law and principals are to be
considered foreign laws and unacceptable in the United States. The idea of
a “creeping Sharia” should be settled
by every state in the Union establishing clear and specific laws to forbid
any aspect of Sharia law from being
practiced or considered in any civil or
criminal disputes.
Until America awakens from its sleep
of unrealistic expectations born out
of apathy and political correctness,
Islamic law will gradually make its way
into every aspect of legal resolutions,
civil matters, and special rights given to
Muslims who cry victimhood at every
occasion. I applaud the efforts of many
states to preemptively stop Sharia law
in the United States.
Please pray for Muslims; they are the
biggest victims of Islam. They need
the gospel of Jesus Christ now more
than ever. Please pray for our leaders
for they are blinded by the wealth of the
Islamic nations made rich by American
money and protected by American
blood. We gave them the wrong sacrifice. We gave them our lives instead
of the life God gave for us all—Jesus
Christ and Him crucified.

THE BIBLE USES DIFFERENT metaphors to describe the spiritual connection Christians have one with another.
Only those who
have placed
their faith in the
completed work
of Calvary are part
of the spiritual
body of Christ.
In John, Jesus refers to believers as branches, with
Himself as the vine, and God the Father as the husbandman (Jn. 15:1-2). Paul talked about the believing
Gentiles being grafted in (Rom. 11:17). The church is
referred to as a building that is built on the foundation
of the apostles and the prophets with Jesus Christ
being the cornerstone (Eph. 2:20). Peter added,
“You also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual
house” (I Pet. 2:5). And there’s more. Today, I want
us to look at the church as being the body of Christ!
one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because
I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore
not of the body?” (I Cor. 12:14-15). We can’t all be
evangelists. We cannot all be preachers. We can’t all
travel the world spreading the Message of the Cross,
but we can all do our part. We can help finance those
who go. We can purchase the Expositors Study
Bibles that are being sent around the world. The
body moving in a well-orchestrated fashion can be
instrumental in reaching the world for Christ.
NOT ALL IN A CHURCH ARE PART OF THE CHURCH
EVERY BODY HAS A HEAD
Let me first of all state that not all that attend church
are part of the church. Sitting in a burger joint, no
matter how fancy that restaurant is, does not make
you a burger. Sitting in church, even participating
in services, does not make you a Christian. To be
part of the body of Christ, you have to “confess
with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in
your heart that God has raised him from the dead”
(Rom. 10:9). Only those who have placed their faith
in the completed work of Calvary are part of the
spiritual body of Christ.
Every living body has a head. Although man often
attempts to usurp His authority, Jesus Christ is clearly
the head of the body of Christ. “For the husband
is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of
the church: and He is the Saviour of the body” (Eph
5:23). As the head, Jesus coordinates and instructs
the individual members of the church. “And He is
the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things
He might have the preeminence” (Col. 1:18). We
are, therefore, His physical representation on earth.
Paul talked often of the body of Christ. “Now you
are the body of Christ, and members in particular”
(I Cor. 12:27). In Paul’s discussion on the purpose
of the five-fold ministerial gifts, he said it was “for
the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the
ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ”
(Eph. 4:12). Clearly the church is the body of Christ.
DIFFERENT PARTS, DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS
Just as in the natural, the body of Christ has different
parts with different functions. “For the body is not
WHAT DOES THE WORLD SEE?
How well is the church representing Christ? We
have to acknowledge that what is being presented
as Christianity is a poor reflection of true Christianity. The prosperity gospel, the seeker sensitive
movement, Kingdom Now, the Emerging Church
movement, and much more do not reflect Christ. As
we preach the Word, share the Word, and live the
Word of God, Jesus will be lifted up. “If I be lifted
up … I will draw all men unto me” (Jn. 12:32).
THE DOOR IS OPENING WIDE
ALMOST EVERY MONTH WE’RE adding between 100,000
and a million homes of coverage for SonLife television here
in the States. That’s beside the overseas expansion.
In 2010, the Lord spoke to me while in prayer saying, “The
Evil One tried to close the door to this ministry in the 1990s,
but I am about to open that door wide.” The Lord has done
exactly what He said that He would do. SonLife Broadcasting Network is now available in 80 million homes in
America, plus more than 200 million overseas. It is our
business to touch the entirety of the world, and that’s what
we’re aiming toward.
We know beyond the shadow of a doubt that we have the
message. That message is, “Jesus Christ and Him crucified.”
The Message of the Cross is the gospel (I Cor. 1:17). And I
thank you so very, very much for standing with us prayerfully and standing with us financially. In fact, this which
the Lord has called us to do, and He most definitely has
called us, could not be done without you. I know I say that
constantly, but I say it because it is the truth.
When you stand with those whom God has called, you will
receive a prophet’s reward, etc. (Mat. 10:41).
A HARVEST
Also, I believe the Lord has told me that there is going to
be a harvest of souls in the very near future, actually the
greatest harvest the world or the church has ever known.
How will this be done?
It will be done through television.
But television within itself, as important as it is, cannot
effect anything of this nature. There must be the right
message, and there must be an anointing upon that
message for this harvest to be gathered. It does no good
whatsoever to send a messenger with a message that’s not

biblical because what is produced will be the same false
doctrine. It must be biblical Christianity, and it must be
given under the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit.
But I also believe the Lord has told me that He is going to
provide this, perhaps to a greater measure than has ever
been known previously.
WONDERFUL TIMES AND
YET DANGEROUS TIMES
The wonderful thing is the gospel — the pure gospel of
Jesus Christ — that is going out over a great part of the
world. For that we give the Lord the praise and the glory.
But it’s also a time of much false doctrine. This means that
every believer must be on guard, must watch as well as
pray, because so much of what is preached presently is not
the gospel, and it will lead people (and we speak of believers), to spiritual wreckage.
I would urge each and every one of you, as you can, to
get every book that we put out, and as you are able to do
so, to get every copy of the commentaries that we have. It
would do you good to read a little bit each day in one of the
books or the commentary. There is a tremendous amount
of Scripture embedded in all that we write, so when you
are reading our books or the commentaries, you are, in
a sense, reading the Bible. And let me say it quickly, the
Word of God is the only revealed truth in the world today,
and in fact ever has been!
Do you have a copy of The Expositor’s Study Bible? If you
don’t, whatever you do, you must get a copy. It will help
keep you true to the Word of God.

It could be, and no doubt will be, the greatest favor
you ever did that person. Yes, some will laugh at
you, some will ridicule you, but some will do what

»» We will ask you, as the Lord blesses you, that

Always remember, it’s impossible to outgive God.
We do our best to bring you services that are
covered by the Spirit of God which will bless you,

The answer to that is very simple. You support that
which feeds you. It’s just that simple, and it doesn’t
take rocket science to figure it out. The Lord doesn’t
have to appear to you in a dream, etc. You support
that which feeds you.
Once again, we love you, and may God richly, richly

Hour run concurrently would be a duplication, and I
really would not have the time that is necessary to do
them both.
Secondly, television reaches so many more people today.
Therefore, after praying about the situation for several
weeks, I felt the prompting of the Holy Spirit to take the
steps we have taken. Were it not for the advent of A
Study in the Word, I would not even remotely consider
canceling The Campmeeting Hour. However, for the
reasons given, we have done so.
The potential of radio is still great. It reaches a tremendous number of people and performs an invaluable
service for the work of God. However, my situation
is somewhat unique. With the crusades, the overseas
missions efforts, the editing of our weekly telecast, the
editing of The Evangelist, the performance of necessary
office duties, plus the advent of the new daily telecast,
my time has become so involved that I am at the place
where I can no longer do many of the things I used to
take care of personally. Still, by the help of God, we are
reaching millions of people.
To be frank with you, though, I think we are still only
scratching the surface. God has promised me that we
would see hundreds of thousands of people saved as a
result of the telecast. The anointing upon this effort is
greater than ever. From the mail response we are receiving, the work that we are putting into it is taking effect
and bringing results.
I HAVE TRIED TO BE AS CANDID
AND AS OPEN AS POSSIBLE
Our love for gospel radio knows no bounds. There may
be a possibility we could pick up The Campmeeting Hour
again in the future. I will leave that with the Lord. But we
give Him all the praise and the glory for the results that
He has brought about through the teaching of the Word
