Year of Consecrated Life
Drawing Strength from Our Lady of Sorrows
The life of prayer and contemplation founded on the Eucharistic
mystery is also at the heart of the vocation of consecrated
people who have chosen the path of the sequela Christi, to give
themselves to the Lord with an undivided heart in an ever more
intimate relationship with him. By their unconditional
attachment to Christ and to his Church, they have the special
mission to reminding everyone of the universal vocation to
holiness ... Consecrated men and women proclaim that God
alone can give fullness to human existence.
—Pope Benedict XVI, 2006 Address to Canadian Bishops
Speaker and author Kimberly Hahn, wife of Dr. Scott Hahn and
mother of six, is a convert to the Catholic faith. Although
honoring Mary was difficult
for Kimberly to initially
understand, she began to
encounter Mary's loving
guidance in little ways on a
daily basis. In this
presentation, she reflects on
the joys and sorrows that
Mary prayerfully
experienced during her time
on Earth, and shares how
her example leads us closer
to Christ.
CD’s are available in the
Gathering Space for $3.00 each.

of team members takes place from their arrival Saturday
evening, July 11 until their departure the following
Friday afternoon, July 17. Each team will provide their
own transportation to and from the parish. Host families
can take on different shapes and sizes. Families with
children, older adults, etc. are all potential host
families. If you can help, or if you would like more
information, please contact the Religious Education
office at 630-627-1551. All parish children are welcome!!

Y no

The SERRA CLUB OF DUPAGE, a national organization
supporting vocations to the priesthood and religious life,
invites you to join them on Monday, May 18, at St Petronille
Parish, 420 Glenwood Avenue, Glen Ellyn. The evening will
begin at 6:00 pm with Rosary and Mass in the Church. Dinner
will follow in the Parish Center.
Guest speaker at the dinner is Father Thomas McCarthy, a
native South Side Chicagoan and a graduate of St. Rita High
School. After taking his solemn vows as an Augustinian Friar
and being ordained to the priesthood, Father McCarthy
returned to St. Rita, first as a teacher, then as Principal and
President. Now, Father Tom is Vocations Director for both
the Midwest and Eastern Provinces of Augustinian Order.
To find out more about SERRA or to make a reservation for
the dinner, please contact John Matyasik at 630-627-4526 or
[email protected].
