Dear Friends,
It is my very real pleasure to welcome all of the guests who have gathered
here this evening in support of the BK Boosters 30th Anniversary Auction. I am
especially happy to welcome the people who started the event 30 years ago.
Mr. Jim Culp was the first of the BK Boosters to introduce the idea of having
an auction back in 1986. I am told that Jim and his wife Nancy and fellow
volunteers, Betty and Lou Trad, Brian and Jeanne Earley, Richard and Debbie
Benoit, among others undertook to, “get some items donated or donate things
themselves, write a catalog, invite some guests, set up the items, attend the
event, buy the items back, and then return the next day to clean it all up.” In
anybody’s book that is devotion. I am told that the first auction raised $12,000!
Today, the auction is one of the highlights of each school year; it has made
an immeasurable impact on our school over the years. The money that has been
raised, over 2 million dollars since that first event in 1986, has been invested in
virtually every corner of our campus and in every sport, club, and activity
undertaken by our students.
I am always impressed by the dedication of our auction volunteers. Having
an office next door to the Development Office, I have grown used to the parade
of people who return year after year to lend a hand. Many do so long after their
children have graduated from BK - and even from college! I extend my gratitude
to these and all of the dedicated volunteers, the parents, alumni and, of course,
the members of our faculty and staff who contribute time, effort, and many
wonderful items.
We thank the members of the BK Boosters, past and present, for the good
work that they have done for our students and our school. Here’s to another
great year… remember to bid often and bid high!

AUCTION RULES
LIVE AUCTION
1. The auction will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m., April 9, 2016 and continues without
interruption until all items have been auctioned. Doors will be open at 6:00 p.m., on
April 9, 2016 for cocktails in order to give you an opportunity to view the various items
prior to bidding.
2. In order to enter a bid, bidder must raise his or her bid paddle high and attract the
attention of the auctioneer. This must be presented each time you initiate or increase
a bid. Each bid legally obligates the bidder to pay his bid price, in full, if his or her bid
is deemed the high bid at the fall of the auctioneer's hammer. The auction will be fast
paced so the bids must be made quickly.
3. Payment by the successful bidder may be made immediately following item's sale or
at the end of the auction when all items must be paid for at one time. Payment may
be made with Cash, Check, VISA, Discover,Mastercard and American Express.
Checks should be made payable to BISHOP KENNY HIGH SCHOOL. Payment that
evening is mandatory.
4. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. THERE WILL BE NO EXCHANGES OR REFUNDS ON
ITEMS BY THE DONORS OR THIS INSTITUTION EXCEPT WHERE SPECIFIED.
PLEASE DO NOT ASK THE DONORS FOR EXCHANGES OR REFUNDS.
5. Bishop Kenny High School has endeavored to catalog and describe the items and
services correctly, but everything is sold "as is". Certain auction items and/or
services may have restrictive use or other qualifications, which may affect value
application or use thereof to bidder. Many items, such as the vacation homes and
condos, are non-transferable. Purchases are bound by the precise restrictions
specified by the donors. The items are not negotiable. Please read carefully the
specifications and limitations.
6. Values set forth on items being auctioned are donor's estimates or manufacturer's
suggested retail price and are NOT WARRANTED BY THE AUCTION COMMITTEE
for tax purposes or for general value.
7.
Unless otherwise specified, all auction items and services must be used within one
year from the date of the auction, April 9, 2016. Unless otherwise specified, dates
and times are to be arranged at the mutual convenience of and by and between the
donor and buyer. To avoid disappointment, please make all vacation reservations
well in advance. Security and cleaning deposits, when required by the donor, must
be paid directly to the donor are not included in your bid.
8. On the fall of the auctioneer's hammer, title to the item and/or service will pass to the
highest bidder who thereupon assumes full risk and responsibility therefore.
9. USE ONLY THE PADDLE NUMBER ASSIGNED TO YOU WHEN BIDDING. Your
number is your identification.

SILENT AUCTION
1. Each item in the silent auction has a bid sheet attached to a table nearby. Persons
desiring to bid may do so by writing in their paddle number, and the amount bid on the
bid sheet.
2. USE ONLY THE PADDLE NUMBER ASSIGNED TO YOU.
3. The opening bid on each item must equal or exceed the "minimum bid" stated at the top
of each bid sheet. Each new bid must be written on the next blank line available on the
bid sheet. Each increase in bid must equal or exceed the "minimum raise" stated on the
card in order to constitute a valid bid. Silent auction bids will be disqualified if minimum
bid and/or minimum raise are not sufficient.
4. AN AUTHORIZED PERSON MAY DISQUALIFY YOUR BID IF YOU ARE BLOCKING
THE BIDDER'S TABLE 15 MINUTES PRIOR THE CLOSING OF A BOOTH.
5. Only an authorized person may nullify a bid.
6. Under no circumstances may an auction bid sheet be removed from the table.
7. The Silent Auction will close at various intervals throughout the evening of the auction.
Closing times are posted in the catalog and will be announced during the evening. The
closing bid circled by the auction official constitutes the winning bid.
8. In the event of a dispute the AUCTION OFFICE SHALL ACT AS THE FINAL
AUTHORITY and shall determine the winning bidder. In the event that two bidders are in
the process of bidding on the same item when the "official" attempts to circle the winning
bid, the "OFFICIAL" may conduct a mini-live auction between those two bidders. He
shall determine the wining bidder. His decision shall be final.
9. Unless otherwise specified, all auction items and services must be used within one year
after the date of the auction.
10. All sales are final and no exchanges or refunds will be honored by the "Auction
Committee" or donor unless specifically indicated in the auction catalog.
11. WE ACCEPT CASH, VISA, DISCOVER, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS, and
PERSONAL CHECKS.
