SYDNEY
DATE:
Wednesday, 27 July 2016
LOCATION:
ADA Centre for
Professional Development
71-73 Lithgow Street,
St Leonards NSW 2065
COST:
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The use of aesthetic crowns is a relatively new
technology available to paediatric dentistry for the
restoration and rehabilitation of the primary dentition.
This is a hands-on workshop which covers case
studies, and the principals and techniques for sizing,
preparation, fitting and cementation of NuSmile
Signature (pre-veneered) and NuSmile ZR (zirconia)
crowns. Clinical recommendations including case
selection will be reviewed as well as practical tips
to overcome common problems will be outlined.
Controversial issues around cementation, wear and
durability will be discussed as well as the emerging
evidence.
At the completion of this workshop, the clinician will
understand and demonstrate competence in all phases
of case selection, tooth preparation, proper fitting and
cementation of both pre-veneered and zirconia ceramic
anterior and posterior primary crowns. Clinicians will
be in a better position to decide which type of aesthetic
restoration is best suited to their individual patient’s
needs and should feel confident to offer parents and
children a new aesthetic option for full coverage
restorations for anterior or posterior teeth.

Beautiful Smiles, Non-invasive:
A Contradiction?
Presented by Dr Juergen Wahlmann
CPD HOURS 5 in NSW - 2.5 in VIC
How to Incorporate the ‘Perfect Smile Protocol’ in your Practice
This course outlines the possibilities of veneers from conventional prepped veneers, veneers with little
re-contouring to absolutely no prep veneers showing all necessary steps for all different types of veneers.
NEW SOUTH WALES
DATE:
Monday, 16 May 2016
TIMES:
The course illustrates this process step by step – starting with the patient consultation, the role of digital
photography, creating smiles for different face structures and the possibilities of optical illusions to get
the best aesthetic result. This is followed by the case planning and how to make the decision between
conventional prepped and no prepped veneers and the advantages and disadvantages of different veneer
types and different materials that are available on the market today.
Discover how to get the best wax up by prepping the model before sending it to the lab including how to
easily create a silicone prep guide and a silicone index for the mock up and the temporaries. Participants
will learn how to create a preparation that gives the lab technician the space he needs to create beautiful
veneers and is also as minimally invasive as possible. Every single step of the veneer and - for combined
cases – crown preparation will be shown, also which kind of burs are needed and why.
Achieve the optimal aesthetic outcome through temporisation by showing an easy way to make the perfect

INFECTION CONTROL
Infection Control Boot Camp:
Optimizing Instrument Reprocessing and
Protection of Staff and Patients
Presented by Professor Laurie Walsh
CPD HOURS 4
The topic of Infection Control is vast, and although there are a number of resources available to help you
navigate your way, it can be overwhelming.
There are, however, some questions that repeatedly come up. Some of these FAQs are in the most critical of areas.
Perhaps this is because you have received conflicting information, or because you have not found sufficient
information for special cases.
Based on your frequently asked questions, we have put together a lecture that focuses on the hot topics. The
objective of the lecture is to clarify the rules and learn how to apply these to your practice. The outcome is for
you to leave with greater confident in what you are doing right and what you may need to fine tune.
This half day course deals with a range of ‘hot topics” in infection control including
* Tailoring instrument reprocessing to different dental practice settings
* Understanding differences between the 4187 and 4815 Australian Standards
* How to assess performance of ultrasonic cleaners and thermal disinfectors
* How different types of tests provide information about the sterilization process
* Ways that batch control identification can be implemented
* What records must be kept for sterilizer cycles
* Special issues around scalers and handpieces

Ceramics Restorations:
Veneers, Inlays, Onlays & Crowns
Presented by Associate Professor Max Guazzato & Dr. Linda Quach
CPD HOURS 14
It doesn’t matter if you own a chair-side CAD/CAM unit or if you send your ceramic veneers, inlays,
onlays crown and implant prosthetic work to your technician, this hands-on course will give you a good
helping of ceramic restoration knowledge. Expert knowledge will be shared about ceramics in general.
More importantly, this workshop will give you tips and tricks to make your ceramic restorations last.
If you have been filled with dismay on looking at your appointment book to see a couple of ceramic
onlays booked in, or if you’d like to perform ceramic restorations predictably, this is the course to do. The
lectures and workshop will answer those questions that come up when you are in the ‘hot seat’. Is the
tooth preparation adequate and will the restoration fit? More importantly, does the ceramic restoration
look good and will it last the distance? When it’s time to choose a material for a clinical situation do
you know when and why to choose Zirconia, e.max or Empress etc? What about the paradigm shift in
resistance and retention form? And how do you predictably bond ceramic restorations to the tooth?
Understanding the intricacies of ceramics is the key to longevity, minimising failures and remakes and
hence increasing your profits. The objective of the course is to focus on the key factors that will lead to a
quality and long lasting ceramic restoration for your practice and your patients.

Implants, Practical Excellence
Presented by Dr Thomas Giblin & Dr Lincoln Harris
CPD HOURS 42
Implant Dentistry has become common place in dental practice and many patients
expect their dentist to offer some type of implant solution.
The purpose of this course is to give attendees a foundation of clinical knowledge
and techniques in planning and carrying out implant dentistry. Most dentists

resulting in common clinical mistakes, damaging the clinician’s confidence.
In this course, training will occur through didactic and practical exercises that help
you obtain greater knowledge regarding successful implant treatment and how to
achieve clinical excellence!

Atraumatic Extraction and
Socket Regeneration
Presented by Associate Professor Max Guazzato
CPD HOURS 7.5
DIDACTIC AND HANDS-ON COURSE USING PIG’S JAWS
The extraction of a tooth is unquestionably accompanied with the loss of alveolar bone
volume. For some patients the loss of bone volume will compromise the possibility for
successful dental implant rehabilitation. In other situations it may mean an alteration of
the emergence pro_le and an aesthetic and functional compromise.
Teeth extractions can be challenging in numerous situations including posterior teeth
with divergent roots, teeth adjacent to vital structures, teeth with existing pathology or
fractured and retained roots. An atraumatic tooth extraction protocol which is consistent,
reproducible and ergonomic and will be discussed to reduce trauma and predictably
remove teeth.
Post-extraction socket grafting techniques have been controversial and unpredictable
due to the varying techniques and grafting materials available. This course will discuss
an immediate socket regeneration technique that has given predictable results in private
practice for 10 years.

Attracting patients to your practice is only the beginning. You need to understand
how to build on relationships with your existing patients by using effective
marketing tools and techniques to turn them into long-term patients.
Many practices make the mistake of focusing only on gaining new patients. They fail to effectively
address the need to retain those they already have. Did you know that the most valuable asset that a
practice has is its existing patient base? Every practice wants and needs new patients, but your surest
and most predictable source of new revenue is right under your nose. It comes from the loyal patients
who already know your practice.
It’s also far easier to sell to existing patients than to get new patients. Acquiring new patients is
expensive (five to ten times the cost of retaining an existing one), but the average spend of a repeat
patient is a huge 67% more.
It has also been shown that it can take between six to eleven times for patients to see or hear a message
before they act on it. Do you know how many ways and how many times you are communicating with
your patients?
When it comes to marketing your practice, there is no silver bullet. It is important that you see your
practice marketing as a collation of strategies. Creating effective marketing with different patient touch
points is key to your success. Your potential patients and existing patients need to experience a number
of touch points all reinforcing your brand message before making the decision to come to you.
