About Chopstick:
Chi-Thien Nguyen, a.k.a. chopstick, has been professionally involved in
the music industry since 1999. Chopstick has established a solid
reputation for quality club music since his early releases on Superfly
Rec. & Lost Language/HoojChoons in UK.
Chopstick has worked as an A&R Manager for the worlds most famous
dance label Ministry Of Sound Recordings in Germany. During this
period as an A&R Manager, Chopstick has learned most of the
knowledge needed to run a record label. Many contacts to danceproducers, dj’s & artists were made at that time.
Later on he was offered a position at Silly Spider Rec. which he couldn’t
refuse. Taking on the new challenge, he established new concepts and
products which included various Mix-CD’s, Artist Development,
Labelmanagement and of course his expertise in A&R’ing.
Based in Germany’s capital Berlin, chopstick together with johnjon have
founded their very own record label called Criminal Records, which is
distributed along with labels such as Poker Flat, Mood Music, Dessous,
etc. by WordAndSound in Hamburg. Their first release on Criminal
Records is by the artist Fanclub (aka chopstick & johnjon) and has
already gained support by DJ’s like Chloé, Digitalism, Phonique, Moguai,
Funk D’Void & Martin Landsky. Chopstick has remixed well known
artists such as Deep Dish, who won the Brit Awards for Best Dance Act and who have been also nominated for
a grammy. His remix for Deep Dish’s “Flashdance” peaked at #1 in the German Dance Charts for 6 weeks.
Chopstick has also remixed top artists like LL Cool J, XZibit, Britney Spears & Madonna, Young MC and many
more with his brother Taan from Jiggy Joint.
Chopstick has now released 4 Mix-CD’s, which reflect various styles of good electro house music that work very
well on the dance floor.
The Mix-CD’s also feature some of his own work, e.g. “She Loves It!”, which is signed to Darren Emerson’s
(from Underworld’s infamous imprint Underwater Rec.) label and is in Darren’s eyes “One Of The Biggest
Clubtunes in 2005”! Chopstick has also been touring Japan, Russia, Australia, China and Canada as a headlining
DJ and has a residency at club Saomai in Osaka, Japan and at Club Morphine in Hamburg. He played with DJ’s
like Sven Väth, Heiko Laux, Funk D’Void and many more.
He started to promote his label with a monthly special clubnight in Hamburg called Criminal&Friends, which
later became Criminal Allstars. Their concept is to invite one of their friends to come and play at their venue.
The start-off featured Pokerflat artist Martin Landsky, followed by Oliver Koletzki, Dirt Crew, DJ Silversurfer,
Booka Shade, Kiki and many more.
Together with longtime friend and Kling Klong Rec. owner Martin Eyerer, he started a new collaboration named
Eyerer & Chopstick. Their releases on Underwater Rec. and Great Stuff Records created quite a hype within the
electronica community. Their releases has been licensed to various territories and were charted#1 in many
clubcharts. Their upcoming releases will feature Mute Rec. artists Client, along with a massive remixes by
Kompakt artist Gui Borrato and Kitsuné artist Christopher Just.
Chopstick releases on well known labels such as Underwater Rec., Great Stuff Rec., Ministry Of Sound Rec.,
Superstition Network and his releases and remixes have been supported by well known DJ’s such as Deep Dish,
Funk D’Void, John Digweed, Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Jimmy Van M, Sasha, Pete Tong, Steve Lawler, Fatboy
Slim, Ewan Pearson, Hérnan Cattáneo, James Holden, Danny Howells, Tiefschwarz, Chloé, David Duriez, etc...

was established in Berlin in 2005.
Starting off with their first release in 2005 by the artist FANCLUB, they
immediately gained recognition by DJ’s such as Chloé, Phonique, Martin
Landsky, and many more. G.DIGGER, also an artist of Criminal Records,
is one of the A&R Managers and is responsible for bringing artists such
as the upcoming french DJ/Producer Ludovic Vendi & Anthony Collins.
The two French gigolos have released on labels such as Dialect,
Hypnotic, Robotronic, Dirt Crew, Urbantorque and Infant. Also DJ Phly
from Pokerflat Rec. / Dessous Rec. / Superstition Network belongs to the
artist roster of Criminal Records. No need to mention that Chopstick &
Johnjon are releasing their own material on their imprint as well.
