Growing up in Washington, I was fortunate to spend quite a bit of time downtown participating in various
events and enjoying the riverfront. After a few years away at college and working in St. Louis, I began
working downtown at the Bank of Washington in the fall of 2012 and have enjoyed being back. Over the
past three and a half years, my appreciation for downtown has grown tremendously. The social events,
restoration/preservation projects, and all of the small businesses and restaurants make it a great
environment in which I get to be a small part. What I have been most impressed with is the dedication of the community and its
people to making downtown an area that continues to promote growth, comradery and historic preservation. As a board member
of Downtown Washington, Inc. we are continuously doing our best to support those people, and are always looking for new and
better ideas to improve our organization’s efforts.
The entire community has all done their part to make downtown Washington a great place to work and live. I enjoy being able to
walk out of the bank in the evening and head to a Sunset on the Riverfront, Main Street BBQ & Bluesfest, or the Fine Art Fair &
Winefest. I also never hesitate to invite customers downtown knowing that I can be proud of the look and feel of this area.
I have been a board member of Downtown Washington, Inc. for a little over a year, and to see the
people who have made time week in and week out to provide a hand wherever needed downtown for
the better parts of their lives is very inspiring. I feel very fortunate being able to work in the
downtown area and look forward to the opportunity for many years to come. Thanks for all of your
hard work and dedication, and hopefully see you around at one of the events soon!

Many of you saw the grit.com article that was circulating on Facebook recently about Jonesborough, TN.
Well folks, we were inspired!
We had so many people suggest this as a new fundraiser for us. After some discussion we decided that this would be the
perfect fundraiser to help offset the cost of the tuck-pointing that we will need to do on the Farmers’ Market building within the
next 3-5 years.
The basics of this event are:
Fresh local food
Dining table on Main Street
Skillful preparation
Adult beverages
and . . . YOU!
We are still working on the details, but the date has been set for September 1, 2016, so mark you calendars and spread the word!
