For school age children, teens or adults follows the RCIA process, also called the Catechumenate, for those thinking and joining the Roman Catholic Church by celebrating Baptism, Confirmation and/or first Eucharist: inquiries may be made by calling

PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK
Call the Rectory to arrange for a minister to bring the Eucharist
to someone homebound or in the hospital. In cases with those
of the faithful whose health is seriously impaired by sickness or
old age, please contact one of the priests to celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.
CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE
Engaged couples call the Rectory for an appointment with one
of the priests or deacons at least six months in advance of the

A Message from Fr. Gino:
To the great parishioners of Holy Name of Jesus
Greetings from St. Margaret’s Church in Middle Village! I am
happy to let you know that Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio has
assigned me here as it’s newest (and youngest) Parochial Vicar.
My transition to this new assignment has been one of ease,
and its thanks to the prayers, support and many lessons I have
learned from the parishioners of Holy Name!
Allow me to take this opportunity to thank those reading for
your love and support. In the few months that I stayed with
you, you have welcomed me with open arms. Your genuine
kindness to me as I returned from my studies in Rome truly
meant more than you’ll ever know. While my new assignment
was expected to begin immediately (as it has) my hasty
departure did not allow me to properly say “good bye.” Please
take this as a word, not of goodbye, but simply “see you soon.”
I won’t be a stranger.
A word of deep gratitude, especially to the priest-in-residence:
Fr. Jim Cunningham, Fr. Mark, Fr. Jim Sweeney, Fr. Jack, Msgr.
Mulkerin, Fr. Austin, and Msgr. Curran. Thank you for sharing
your pastoral experiences with me. Above-all, thank you for
your priestly fraternity.
As we prepare to celebrate Holy Week, may each of us center
ourselves on the mystery of the Lord’s Cross that won for us
the “unfading crown of glory.” (1 Peter 5:5). May each of us
carry our own personal crosses nobly, realizing the eternal
reality that awaits us. As Christ became “obedient to the point
of death, even death on a cross,” the story does not end with
Christ’s death. St. Paul reminds us today that “God greatly
exalted him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above
every name…” (Philippians 2:6-11) May we never forget that
there is no Resurrection without the Cross. In our lives, may
we never forget that without the cross, there is no crown.
God bless you all. Thank you, Holy Name. And let us pray for
each other during this Holy Week.
