The Divine Mercy Chaplet
The second Sunday of Easter (April 15th) is proclaimed as
"Divine Mercy Sunday" to remind us of the mercy that God
has for us in his grace to forgive and bestow healing upon us.
Here is a very short history of this popular devotion to Divine
Mercy:
Helena Kowalska was born in the village of Glogowiec west of
Lodz, Poland on August 25, 1905. She became a nun in the Congregation of The Sister’s of Our Lady of Mercy on April 30, 1926
and changed her name to Sister Mary Faustina. Sister Faustina
began to have a number of religious visions that lasted throughout
her entire life. February 22, 1931 Sister Faustina had a vision of
the Lord who said:"Paint an image according to the pattern you
see, with the signature: Jesus I Trust In You. I desire that this image be venerated, first in your chapel, and throughout the whole world." On September 13,
1935 sister received another revelation that would go hand in hand with the image, known as
the Divine Mercy. The revelation came in the form of a prayer that should be said in front of the
Image. "Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. In atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. For
the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world."
These are the words of the devotion that we now call "the Divine Mercy chaplet."
Sister Faustina died on October 5, 1938 and was declared a saint on April 30, 2000.
Join us each day at the church at 3pm (Divine Mercy hour when Jesus died on the cross)
beginning April 6th to pray a 9-day novena of this simple devotion for ourselves and all
those in need of the Lord's mercy.
Holy Week Confessions
The sacrament of Confession will be available this week on Monday,
Tuesday, and Wednesday from 4pm until 5pm at St. Henry downtown.
There will be no confessions on Saturday the Vigil of Easter (April 7th).

Good Friday Collection
Christians around the world are united in a
special way during Lent, Holy Week and
Easter. Our hearts, minds and prayers are
also especially aware of the Holy Land. Our
parishes, once a year on Good Friday, are
called on to support Christians in the Holy
Land. May Christians in the Holy Land depend on the collection for their lives.
As a pontifical collection requested by Pope
Benedict XVI, the annual Good Friday collection offers a direct link for parishioners to be
witnesses of peace and to help protect the
Holy Places. When you donate on Good Friday, you are supporting Christians in the Holy
Land.
