• IDEX: The Côte d’Azur University has been acknowledged
as one of the best in France, winning its place in the
government program “IDEX” which aims at developing worldclass transdisciplinary universities in France within 10 years.
The Côte d’Azur University (UCA) brings together 8 institutions under the codename UCA “JEDI” for “Joint Excellent and
Dynamic Initiative”.
• FLEXGRID:The project has been selected as one of three
French winners of the “Intelligent Electric Networks” call for
projects - 58 million euros over four years for higher education
and research.
• SMART CAMPUS NICE SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS: By installing
an experimental smart electricity network on the campus
of SophiaTech, the program aims to establish the Côte d’Azur
as an archetype of French know-how in this domain.
• CITYOPT: A European project optimizing energy systems in
smart cities.
• NICE GRID: A smart solar-energy microgrid district, led by EDF.
• REFLEXE: The 1st virtual power plant in France, led by Veolia.
One aim: “Inventing the Mediterranean city
of tomorrow respectful to the environment”
• A new building based on a technological platform: 4,500
sqm, 480 students, 40 kwh/m²/year, experimental building, etc,
• A place for experimentation and validation of the scale of
Nice Meridia Science Park,
• Scientific support from in-site research laboratories:124
permanent searchers combined with a project house (62 searchers
working on specific projects),
• Heavy shared investment in technology: Smart fabrics open
innovation and specific equipment for strategic business units (12
millions Euros in 2021),
• Educational programs: Supported by research in the fields of
sustainable development, some of them developed in partnership
with the Grandes Ecoles (about 480 on-site students),
• Industrial partnerships: Suez Environment, GDF, EDF, Vinci, IBM,
Bouygues, Alstom, Embix, etc.
