TEENS OFFERED VARIETY OF CLASSES FOR SPRING
10 different classes from sculpting to weight training to basketball instruction will be offered this spring
to all Edison middle school and high school students with a valid teen center ID. These spring classes
will begin on March 25th and run through June 7th.

RECREATION OFFERS CLASSES FOR ADULTS
Spring adult classes will begin on March 25th in ceramics, watercolors, acrylics, billiards and chess. Go

MAKE YOUR MOVE TO FAMILY CHESS THIS SPRING
Recreation Chess for the whole family will be held at the Stelton Community Center on Thursdays from
7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for Edison children, seven years old and up and their parents. Elementary aged
children are free, but middle and high school children and adults will be charged a community center
membership fee.
SHORINJIRYU KARATE OFFERED AT RECREATION CENTERS
It is the ultimate purpose of Shorinjiryu Karate-do to develop individuality in mind and body through the
study of traditional techniques and the spirit of competition.

Country, Twirl a Little Rock &
Roll” on April 12th. This show
will be held at Woodrow
Wilson Middle School from
6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Training is offered to children above the age of 9, teenagers and adults of Edison Township. Children
and adults will gain confidence and self awareness through physical training and study of forms under
the guidance of our experienced staff. Children under the age of 9 may in some cases participate
provided a parent or guardian takes the class with them. Adults will learn to cope with stress using
stretching and breathing techniques. Self defense and traditional weapon training is also incorporated
into our program. Students are expected to attend at least (2) classes per week. Please go to the

GREAT FUN AT ADULT/CHILD “SPRING FLING”
Join other families from the area for a night of dance contests, games, prizes, dinner, dancing and fun at our 17th Edition
of “Little Darlin’s Spring Fling”. This adult/child “dress up” event will be held at the Minnie B. Veal Community Center,
1070 Grove Ave., Edison, on Friday, March 15, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The cost is $30 per couple. Tickets are

The 31 Annual Edison Township Fishing Derby will be held at Lake Papaianni on Saturday, May 4th (rain date: Sunday

“MAYORS BIKE TOUR” TEAMS UP WITH JFK FOUNDATION AND “EDISON FAMILY DAY”
The 2013 “Experience Edison/Metuchen Charity Bike Tour” has gotten bigger and better this year. This June 9 th event
once again will team up with the JFK Foundation’s “Cycling For A Cure” to benefit Parkinson’s Disease. New this year,
this event will partner with Edison Health Department’s very popular “Family Day”.
All riders will not only get a free “Bike Tour” T-shirt and donate to JFK’s great Foundation, but will also get free
admission to Family Day.

ABC/YAP PROGRAMS
The Edison Recreation Department, in
cooperation with the Edison Board of Education,
will be offering the A.B.C. (After Before School
Child Care) Program for children in grades K-5
during the school year in all public elementary
schools in the Township from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00
a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Applications
will be available, April 1st. The Y.A.P. (Young
Adolescent Program) serves the middle school
students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th from 3:00 p.m.

PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAM
A pre-school program is available for 3 year
olds from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on
Tuesdays and Thursdays and 4 year olds from
9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays at the Stelton
Community Center. Applications will be
available Monday, May 6th for the

EDISON RECREATION TO OFFER “ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING”
An “Adventures in Babysitting” program for Edison teenagers in grades 6 th through 9th, who want to learn the fundamentals of
babysitting, will be held at both community centers for 3 consecutive days in March from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. All teens must be

EDISON RECREATION TO OFFER JOB FAIR – SUMMER PLAYGROUND POSITIONS TO BE FILLED
The Edison Recreation Department will be offering a Job Fair to fill playground positions for the 2013 Summer Season, which will
begin on Monday, July 1, 2013.
Enthusiastic applicants 16 years of age and older (18 and over for Head Counselors) are needed to provide varied, supervised
activities for children ages 5 through 12; such as crafts, games, sports and trips. The program is operated at various playground
locations throughout the Township for six (6) weeks, Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The program is also looking for

RECREATION OFFERS WEIGHT ROOM FACILITIES FOR ADULTS
Our Edison Recreation Department offers weight rooms at both community centers. Open to both residents and non-residents, both centers offer free weights,
universal machines, treadmills and exercise bikes.
A resident fee of $10.00 a month or a non-resident fee of $30.00 a month is charged. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. and
Saturdays 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. IN PERSON REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
MIDTOWN LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL – Come join Midtown Edison Little League for their Spring Season. This is a
place kids can come and have fun! We are located at 14 Glenville Road in Edison.
Midtown has a family environment where the kids can come out and have a great time. Midtown is part of the Williamsport Little
League.
This year we will be offering a great program for our T-ballers, International Division, Minors and Majors. T-ball will consist of clinics
to help the kids learn proper throwing, fielding and hitting. After a few weeks the kids will play ball games against each other in a
team atmosphere. The Internationals, Minors and Majors will be having games amongst themselves and other towns. Opening
Day is April 6, 2013.
ROVERS 2013 SPRING TRAINING – The annual Rovers 2013 Spring Training Soccer “Skills Camp” directed by professional soccer
coach, Spencer Rockman, kicks off the week of April 21st at the Stelton Community Center/Stelton Park and at the Minnie B. Veal
Community Center/James Elder Park. This once-a-week, high energy skills camp runs for five weeks. The emphasis is on skillbuilding training games which promote maximum learning and enjoyment…enhanced by a small-sided soccer match in each
session. The camp accommodates all levels of playing experience. The fun never stops!
Open to boys and girls, ages 3-12. Choose from Stelton Park: Sunday 1:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m., Monday 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. or
MBV/James Elder Park: Sunday 3:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m., Wednesdays 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Schedule conflict? Make-ups always
available.

MONDAY NITE FUTBOL – This is a weekly pick-up soccer game for adults of all ages. Come and experience “the beautiful game”
which is now celebrating its 150th anniversary and continues to be the most beloved and followed sport on the planet. The fitness
benefits of soccer are unparalleled. It is referred to as a physical democracy, because the entire body from head to toe is immersed
in play. Under the guidance of Spencer Rockman (United States Soccer Federation “A” License Coach, former NJ men’s /U-23
Olympic Developmental Team Coach) and the Rovers International Soccer former NJ Men’s U-23 Olympic Developmental Team
Coach) and the Rovers International Soccer Professional Coaching Staff, participants will get to play while they learn and learn
while they play!
The pick-up game, which is an ideal, user-friendly format for learning new and sharpening existing soccer skills, will accommodate
all levels of playing experience – from novice to advance. Participants will be divided into groups/teams according to experience to
derive the most enjoyment…So come and spend an early evening of fellowship and fun playing in the world’s most popular game.

NORTH EDISON SHAMROCKS 2013 REGISTRATION FOR FOOTBALL AND CHEERLEADING – The North Edison Shamrocks will be holding

GET READY TO SPRING INTO ACROBATIC GYMNASTICS – Acrobatics is a sport with beauty and art and a combination of gymnastics, choreography and
fitness. Instruction will be provided by Ms. Jun Li, World Cup Gold Medalist in the sport of Acrobatic Gymnastics and former member of the Chinese

SPRING BADMINTON CHILDREN – Take this opportunity to learn the game of Badminton at both community centers for ages 4 to 18. Learn gripping,
serves, stance, preparation, clears, drops, drives, nets, hand-eye coordination, timing, introduction to smashes, basic footwork and generally
establishing the ground work for the next level up. The class covers essentials of the game, with strategies for doubles and single players according to

REGISTRATION ON TAP FOR JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAM – All children in grades K-8 are invited to participate in the junior tennis program run by

TOWNSHIP WELCOMES ALL YOUTH BOWLERS TO ITS SPRING BOWLING PROGRAM – Edison Recreation is sponsoring a weekly bowling program for
boys and girls between the ages of 5 to 14. This year we will be offering two bowling sessions: Early Spring and Late Spring for your convenience at
Stelton Lanes, 1665 Stelton Road (approximately one mile from the Stelton Community Center) on Mondays at 4:00 p.m. Information and a

RMC STUDIOS OFFERS MUSIC LESSONS – A variety of music lessons will be offered for ages 4-9. “Intro to Rock” will offer a journey through the world
of instruments used to play rock n’ roll. “Intro to Keys” is centered on chord theory, song study, artist study, melodic embellishments and proper
playing techniques and posture. “Intro to Guitar” will teach the students how to play the guitar like your favorite rock n’ roll hero. Information and a

EDISON RECREATION PRESENTS MAD SCIENCE WORKSHOPS AT THE MINNIE B. VEAL COMMUNITY CENTER – Exciting activities and spectacular
