Leather Details
Leather is the fastest growing upholstery material in the United States today. Because leather has an
average life span four times greater than fabric coverings, its no wonder why American consumers
are discovering the tremendous value it represents.
Top Grain vs. Full Grain
“Top grain” leather is the top 3/64” of a hide. Because of its strength and beauty, this supple layer is
the standard of upholstery leather.
Occasionally, top grain leathers are buffed or sanded to remove excess markings. This process also
removes the beautiful natural graining from the leather.
On the other hand, “Full grain” leather is a top grain hide which has not been buffed or sanded. The
grain and natural markings, which many consider the hallmarks of fine leather, remain. Because it is
the most beautiful and sensuous of all top grain leathers, “full grain” leather is the premier leather
grade.
Natural Markings in Leather
Cattle encounter a variety of nature’s elements in their search for food. Grazing often brings the
animals in contact with trees, bushes, and barbed wire which can leave scratches and scars on the
hide.

Backbone
Stretch marks
So the steer will
have the flexibility
needed to move its
head while grazing,
the skin on its neck
is full and loose. As
the neck stretches
and contracts,
wrinkles naturally
occur in the hide.
These scar marks
are evidence of the
cow’s unsheltered
life. The fewer
marks of this kind
the more expensive
it is.
These natural furrows
appear along the
backbone of all
hides. Again due to
the animal’s
physiology, they are
your proof of a
natural full grain
hide.
Stretch marks
appear in cow hide
for the same reasons
they do in humans.
The process of
calving requires the
stretching of the skin
to accommodate the
new calf. Nothing
could be more
natural.
Leather Warranty
Congratulations on the purchase of your leather furniture. You have made an investment in long
lasting quality that will offer you years of comfort and enjoyment. As you indulge in the pleasure of this
genuine leather upholstered piece of furniture, you will begin to enjoy its comfort as well as its looks.
The leather is soft, supple and will outlast other upholstery material.
Limited Lifetime Warranty
Variations in shade, texture and natural markings caused by abrasions during life of the animals are
not considered defects, but are all qualities of the leather. These characteristics enhance the
individuality of each piece and ensure that you are purchasing a quality leather product. Avoid
chemicals and sunlight to preserve natural beauty of your furniture.
*This Warranty shall extend only to the original purchaser and is not transferable.
Leather is warrantied against the following and as long as you adhere to the care instructions listed in
this warrant:
Crocking - There will be no transfer of color.
Cracking - The finish will not show excessive crakes other than normal wrinkles.
Peeling - The Finish will not peel from the leather.
Flexibility - The leather will not become hard.
Breaking strength - The Leather will not tear under normal use.
Care Instructions
1. Protect your leather furniture from direct sunlight.
2. Use guaranteed products. Common cleaning products can cause severe damage and expensive
repairs.
3. Don’t place your furniture too near a radiator or a similar source of heat. Make sure that there is a
minimum difference of a 20-30 cm. between your furniture and the heat source.
4. In the event of an accident consult your furniture dealer who can give you the correct advice or
recommend a specialist.
Image Improved Warranty
All necessary adjustments or equipment not occasioned by accident or misuse through fault or
negligence by the purchaser shall be made by Image Improved Inc.’s expense, during the 90 day
period after acceptance by the purchaser. All equipment procured hereunder is guaranteed for a
period of 1 year from the date of acceptance. During the guarantee period any broken or defective
parts not caused by accident or misuse through fault or negligence by the purchaser must be
replaced and all necessary equipment adjustment occasioned by such defective parts must be
made, at Image Improved, Inc.’s expense, including labor, parts and transportation cost, if any.
