Dear Friend of The Scott Rigsby Foundation
Dear Friend of The Scott Rigsby Foundation:
Thank you for your expressed interest in learning about the 2012 Jackson Healthcare/Georgia Warrior Alliance
(GWA) Ride. The first weekend in May offers several sponsorship opportunities for your organization through our
GWA Ride, US Handcycling national qualifier race and Wounded Warrior Honoree dinner.
The GWA Ride (www.allianceride.com) is quickly becoming one of Georgia’s largest celebrations of U.S. Wounded
Warriors from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom (OIF/OEF). Your sponsorship will
highlight your organization’s commitment to assisting our brave, injured military men and women as they strive
to recover from their physical and emotional challenges.
By becoming a sponsor, you will be participating with The Scott Rigsby Foundation as a significant part of the
GWA. Proceeds from the weekend go toward Georgia-based Wounded Warrior Family Retreats and counseling
programs for Wounded Warriors and their immediate families as they reintegrate into civilian life. A special
GWA fundraiser dinner event will offer our sponsors the opportunity to meet several of these families and other
military officials as part of the weekend activities.
The GWA Ride is designed for all levels of cyclists and will be held on May 5, 2012. This year’s ride will follow a
new 25-mile and 50-mile, police-managed course through picturesque and gentle rolling streets of Alpharetta
and Milton. The U.S. Handcycling Federation (USHF) National Calendar race has been expanded to a 2-day event
for 2012! This exciting series will include the 25 mile Epic USHF road race on Saturday, May 5th and continue
with a fast and furious Criterium on Sunday, May 6th in the city of Roswell.
The GWA Ride will start and finish at Jackson Healthcare’s corporate headquarters, 2655 Northwinds Parkway,
Alpharetta, GA. With plenty of snacks, beverages, and nutrition items, as well as special exhibits from our local
military, the event makes for a very memorable day for all who attend.
The following sponsorship packages are merely a highlight of the benefits and amenities that are currently
available. Select from the package that best fits your business needs and we will work with you to ensure your
expectations are met and exceeded!
Please contact our Event Director, Victoria Seahorn at [email protected] or by phone at
(404) 421-3231 with any questions. We are available to set up a meeting to discuss how you can activate your
sponsorship with this exciting event. Please visit our website www.allianceride.com for more information.

About Scott Rigsby
Scott Rigsby (www.scottrigsby.com) is a professional speaker whose mission is to encourage people to do
more than they thought possible in pursuit of their dreams. In 2007, millions witnessed Scott Rigsby on
NBC Sports become the first double amputee with prosthetics to cross the finish line at the grueling Ford
Ironman World Championship (FIWC) in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
Since that incredible day, over 100,000 people have been inspired by his Unthinkable story through his
speaking events, book and video sales, and on the Internet. On October 8th, 2011, Rigsby returned to
challenge the FIWC again, but this time for a special purpose, to honor his commitment to personally enable
our Wounded Warriors live a healthy and active lifestyle.
Scott grew up near Atlanta, Georgia, where he makes his home today. He has delivered keynote speeches for
civic organizations, military, Fortune 1000 companies, churches and schools across the country. He founded
The Scott Rigsby Foundation (www.scottrigsbyfoundation.org) a Georgia 501(c)3 nonprofit to inspire,
inform, and enable individuals with loss of limb or mobility to live a healthy, active lifestyle.
About US Handcycling
Founded in 1999, the U.S. Handcycling Federation (USHF) is a Colorado 501(c)3, nonprofit association of
individuals and organizations that creates integrated cycling opportunities for wheelchair users and athletes
with lower mobility impairments. Programs are offered for civilians as well as veterans with disabilities and
members of the U.S. Armed Forces. The organization works with cycling event promoters to foster inclusion
of athletes with and without disabilities together at cycling competitions.
U.S. Handcycling National Series
The USHF national cycling series puts athletes with and without disabilities together, at the same events
as their “able-bodied” counterparts, racing on the same courses, in front of the same crowds, at some of
the most prestigous races on the USA Cycling calendar. At each event, the handcycle race is a feature and
showcases the athleticism as well as courage and determination of the participants.
The Georgia Warrior Alliance Ride/Epic Handcycling Road Race is a part of the USHF National Calendar series.
Points will be awarded according to the USHF standards. Go to www.ushf.org for more information on the
series.
In 2012, 33,000 troops will return from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom (OIF/OEF).
We face epidemic numbers of transitioning soldiers in crisis - many injured physically, mentally, and emotionally
and needing serious help finding a way to reconnect with their families, peers and communities. Many need
job training, education, certification and job placement.
The Scott Rigsby Foundation, in partnership with several Georgia-based nonprofits, is working closely with the
Pentagon’s Wounded Warrior Family Support leadership to establish Georgia’s most comprehensive health,
education and jobs program for our injured soldiers and their families. The private sector driven program,
called the “Sea of Goodwill,” is promoted by COL David Sutherland, Associate to the Chairman of The Joint
Chiefs of Staff.
As part of our strategy to enable programs for Wounded Warriors, we are committing resources for a state level
support team, called the Georgia Warrior Alliance (GWA). The GWA will build capacity and leverage all aspects
of local community services to provide solutions to the challenges facing our soldiers. The GWA’s objective is to
address our government’s lack of capacity to meet the current and future demands of these brave warriors who
have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
The GWA’s primary objective is to develop a personal support plan, for each warrior family, that compliments
existing government-based benefits, and encourages valued service back to their community. Through the
Community Action Team approach, we will work to:
•
•
•
•
Assist service members and their family to transition to the civilian sector by facilitating improved health
and wellness, education, and employment opportunities
Be adjunct to the VA while not claiming to change any of their policies
Equip and Enable the Warrior to become volunteers in the GWA and their community
Incorporate nonprofit, business, faith-based, health, education and philanthropic organizations to drive the
nation’s most comprehensive warrior support network
Joining the Scott Rigsby Foundation as founding members of the GWA include the Healthcare Institute for
Nuero-Recovery and Innovation (HINRI), Gratitude America, Callaway Gardens, the Roosevelt Rehabilitation
Center in Warm Springs, and Camp Twin Lakes.
