Catalog Advertisements: An ad in the draft test catalog is a great way of saying "Good
Luck" to those who have trained all winter as well as supporting the breed we all love. Show
off a new title, announce a litter, promote your services (need not be dog related), list your
kennel or just include yourself (or your dog) on the Booster List. The catalog will be 8.5” x
11” vertical format. "Camera Ready" ads are preferred, but typesetting is available (layout
required). Photos should be clear and have enough contrast for scanning and black & white
reproduction. Materials will be returned at the test or by including a SASE. Rates are:

Executive Secretary’s Report
The board discussed and decided to streamline the minutes to document the BOD decisions and share with the membership in a timely
manner. Donna Thibault made motion to approve the highlights from the October 13, 2012, meeting printed in Newfprints on
December 20, 2012, Volume 33, as minutes. Brenda Miele Soares seconded. The motion carried.
Joyce Arivella made motion to accept the report of the Executive Secretary. Jean Cote seconded. The motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer was not at the meeting, but provided his report ahead of time for the Directors to review. Dejah Petsch asked the BOD
to review the categories in the Treasurer’s report and suggest those categories that could be consolidated or eliminated to make the
report easier to read. Brenda Miele Soares will contact Bill Matlock to inquire if the format of future reports to the BOD could be
modified.

Working Dog Secretary’s Report
Lori Bryant reported a successful Christmas Tree Pull in December. The winter draft test plans are in progress and the water test site is
already booked.
NCNE has been asked to participate in a demo at Mystic Seaport on February 16, 2013. Sue Marino will forward the info to the drafttraining group.

Show Liaison’s Report
Sue Jones reported that the Club would have supported entry at CT River Working Group Dog Shows in March. The Club will also have
a supported entry at the Cape Cod shows in September 2013. Dejah Petsch reported about the success of the Regional in November
and proposed to hold a Regional in December. Donna Thibault moved that the Club will host a Regional and supported entry weekend
in conjunction with the Eastern Dog Club in early December 2013. John Adams seconded. Cindi Goodwin and Deborah Ball were
contacted to co-chair the Regional.

The Board agreed that NCNE will participate in the 2013 National’s “Show your Colors” opening ceremony parade. Contacts are Dejah

Committee Reports:
Rescue
Lori Bryant updated the Board on the state of the rescue. Since April 2012, the Club had 19 Rescue Newfoundland dogs. Lori has two
additional NCNE members, assisting her with answering calls and emails.

Sunshine
Kathy Luce requested to use her personal email address, instead of alias (sunshine), in the NewfPrints.
Unfinished Business
National Update
Donna Thibault presented the 2015 Specialty Update.
The BOD discussed hosting the national specialty in 2016. Sue Marino moved that NCNE would co-chair the 2016 National with the
NCA specialty committee. John Adams seconded. The motion carried. Donna Thibault will contact the NCA Specialty Show Committee
to prepare its bid for the 2016 National in Warwick, RI, to be held on May 1-7, 2016.

The ballot for NCNE members to vote for judges for the 2015 National is available on the website, Facebook page, and the next issue
of the NewfPrints. Members may also submit suggestions for conformation, obedience, and rally judges.
Sue Marino made a motion to transfer startup funds to the 2015 National Specialty account; Cathe Archer is the Treasurer. Sue
Mendleson seconded. The motion carried.
The Board will invite Specialty committee and interested club members to join the next BOD meeting. The next BOD meeting will be
held on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick.

The welcome brochure is updated and will be available at upcoming NCNE events.
Cabin Fever
Jean Cote updated the Board on the preparations for the Cabin Fever, to be held on March 17, 2013.
Membership Application and Renewal Form
Jean Cote proposed to update the membership and renewal forms by adding the signature line, “By submitting theses dues, I/we
agree to abide by the Constitution and By-Laws and Ethics Guide as adopted by the NCNE.” Sue Marino moved to accept the motion.

Terry Linehan will contact Tracy Warncke to request an email to the membership when she needs additional articles/items of interest

By-Laws
The changes were sent to the NCA Regional Clubs Liaison, Pam Rubio, for final submission to the NCA BOD for approval.
Ratifying email vote
The BOD unanimously ratified Beth Bennett’s appointment as the Club Historian.
New Business
Annual Award for Working Handler
The Board discussed the annual award form for the Working Handler of the Year. Joyce Arivella moved to add a new line on the
Working-Handler-of-the-Year providing space to nominate another handler. The motion was discussed.
Milestone Members
Sue Marino proposed to write a short feature on milestone members in the NewfPrints.
Policy for initial handling of complaints
Sue Jones proposed to put forward a policy on initial handling of complaints, where if the president, an officer or a member of the
board is approached about an issue, he/she needs to officially contact the secretary, who will inform the Board as soon as possible.
The complainant would also be advised about the formal procedure as per Club’s By-Laws.
Sue Jones moved to go into executive session, Sue Marino seconded. The Board went into executive session at 3:10 pm. The Board
came out of executive session at 3:15 pm; no action was taken.
The procedure for hearings, developed by Bill Matlock, will be sent to the Policy Committee.
Annual Meeting/Fall Fun Days
June 9th is the Spring Fling/Annual Meeting. John Adams will ask Sheri Russell to chair the Spring Fling.
October 6th is the Fall Fun Day; Monica Vitale will chair the event.
Credit card and cell phone for Rescue
Lori Bryant will contact the Treasurer to enable immediate access to credit card account for emergency. Lori Bryant will look into cellphone/plan/rate expenses.
Educational
Brenda Miele Soares updated the club on the Educational seminar to be held in the fall.
