The Pine Needle - Lake Pine Colony Club
The Pine Needle
A Service of the Lake Pine Colony Club
President’s Message
Greetings with Gratitude
This will be the last correspondence to members before we
ring in another year and begin anew. I would like to preface
my message with appreciation to those who significantly
supported our club’s efforts this year, beginning with our Trustee,
Richard DePasquale, PE. Rich’s ongoing efforts and expertise
surrounding our lake and dam continues to be invaluable. The
South Beach Wash-out project, unanimously approved by
members in November, was successfully completed by midmonth. The area is now safe to enjoy, in addition to being
protected from undermining when future storms pass through of
sizable magnitude. (See Rich’s report detailed in the following
pages)
Many thanks to the Eagle Scout candidate who built and
directed our fence, tree planting and cement pad project, with his
father. I also want to thank the many other Scout volunteers who
helped with this assignment. The labor costs surrounding the
project were free (an estimated 100+ man hours were involved);
the entire project was calculated to cost a total of $300. This was
a win-win for all involved. We look forward to possibly another
Eagle Scout project this spring, as this Scout volunteer has a
brother who is also an Eagle Scout candidate that wants to do a
project for the LPCC. I would also like to thank LPCC member, Susan Claypoole.
Susan donated a beautiful, pre-lit, Christmas tree for members
to enjoy at our clubhouse. We’ve featured her tree at this year’s
Breakfast with Santa, which continues to be a festive, well
attended event for all ages.
Additionally, a BIG annual thank you to all member volunteers
who continue to support LPCC annual events that include our
Lake Pine Days’, Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween, and Breakfast with
Santa. The year wouldn’t be complete without your generous
support, creativity and commitment!
FY 2012 Budget
Moving forward, the LPCC board is preparing next year’s budget
for members to review and approve at our January 26th member
meeting. We’ve completed a significant amount of projects
this year, thanks to members’ supporting votes, upgrading our
recreational facilities and clubhouse for all members to enjoy,
along with future generations to come.
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and safe holiday season with
friends and family and we’ll see you next year!
Happy New Year,
Laura Saunders
President

Board Member Election
Our January 26th member meeting will include
Board Officer and Trustee elections for attending
members to vote. Please mark your calendars and
plan to attend. Your suggestion and considerations
are paramount for next year’s summer party theme,
as well as additional events that you would like to
have.
Lake Lowering FY 2012
Next year’s “proposed” lake lowering will take
place March 15th – 29th; future announcements will
be posted via email and Pine Needle newsletters as
it approaches. Additionally, the board has approved
a new policy with regard to future lake lowering(s),
erecting signs at either end of the lake as an
additional precaution to all members.
2012 LPCC Member Dues
We will be mailing out invoices for next year’s dues
before the New Year. We encourage all members to
submit their payment before April 1st, (per LPCC bylaws) to avoid any penalty. I thank you in advance for
your cooperation and consideration.
November, 2011
Trespassing/Vandalism
Unfortunately, we continue to deal with trespassers
and vandalism as it relates to Lake Pine property/
beaches, in addition to LPCC member’s properties.
Please stay aware to unusual happenings and report
it to our Township police department. Medford’s
Neighborhood Watch liaison for Lake Pine is Officer
Phil D’Alzono. The LPCC Board will file criminal
complaints and prosecute to the fullest extent of
the law against any individuals who perform acts of
mischief and/or vandalism. We must continue to
work together, staying alert and aware to protect our
neighbors and our Lake Pine community.
EASTER EGG HUNT
Our next LPCC Holiday event will be our Easter
Egg Hunt, scheduled for March 31st, 2012. We look
forward to seeing you there as we all begin “hopping”
into spring!
Eagle Scout Project
Completed
The Eagle Scout project of installing fencing and a concrete sidewalk for storing LPCC trashcans
outside of the clubhouse was completed over two weekends in November. The project was a complete success, looks great, and was done with minimum outlay of funds. The trashcans are now out
of view and their related funk are away from the clubhouse. Much thanks go out to the Eagle Scout
candidate, who built/directed the job along with his father. We also want to thank all the other Scout
volunteers who helped with the project. Because the labor was free (probably 100+ man hours were
involved), the entire project ended up costing only about $300. This was a win-win for all involved.
We look forward to another Eagle Scout project this spring, as the father involved has another son
who is an Eagle Scout candidate who wants to do a project for the LPCC. Possible projects include
making Main or East Beach more presentable by adding landscaping, fixing swings, adding more
benches and picnic tables, grills, etc. Thanks again Scouts (and Dad)! Good Luck achieving Eagle
Scout!!!

Tennis Court Use
If you were not already aware, our newly renovated
tennis courts are now open. We have received several
inquiries with regard to its opening and have created
a process for you to enjoy a game of tennis before the
winter chill arrives.
If you would like access and the combination to
the lock please email Gina Fisher at boardadmin@
lakepinecolonyclub.com. She will need your name,
address, phone and email information for future
announcements like when the lock’s combo is changed
for security purposes. You must be up to date on all
dues, in addition to being a recreation member.
We ask that you and your children act responsibly when
using the courts. Do not share the combination with
anyone (please forward them to Gina for access) and
lock the gate when finished. These courts are for tennis
only! Skateboards, games or other activities will not be
tolerated.
Please help us preserve the longevity of these courts by
treating them as your own...
...because they are!
Many thanks and enjoy!

Lake to Be Lowered
This Spring
The lake lowering in the spring will occur
Thursday, March 15 through Thursday, March
29.
New to
Lake Pine
We would like to welcome all new members
to Lake Pine when they enter our community. As such, we would like to reach out to
you although sometimes we aren’t quite
aware when we have new neighbors. So
please let us know who you are by sending
your information to [email protected]. And welcome to Lake Pine!

Affinity Program/
TD Bank Program
Help support LPCC’s fundraising efforts by joining
TD Bank’s Affinity Membership Program. Your participation earns us an annual donation based upon
the number of members enrolled.
So far, we have raised $3500 from the program! In
our first full year of participating in the program, we
received over $3500 from the bank simply because
50 of you who bank at TD Bank named us as your
Affinity Program Designees.
TD Bank does not give us any information about
you – not who you are nor what you have in your
accounts. The bank simply makes a donation to our
organization if 50 or more account holders designate our group. The donation is based on a formula
and the money does not come from you – it comes
from the bank. If the number of you drops below 50,
we receive nothing. So, if you bank with TD Bank
or are looking for a new bank to do business with,
please designate the Lake Pine Colony Club as
your designee to insure that at least 50 people or
companies designate us for the program.
Eligible accounts include:
• Checking
• Money Market
• Savings
• CD
• RA
To sign up for the program, all you need to do is
just give them our organizations name and they’ll
take care of the rest. To become a member of the
Lake Pine Colony Club Affinity Membership Program, call the Lake Pine Branch at (856) 596-6622.
To open an account, visit any TD Bank
Branch or call 1-888-751-9000.
I will honor Christmas

to keep it all the year.

November, 2011
LPCC General
Membership Meeting
December 1, 2011
Minutes from the September 22nd meeting were
read.
Treasurer’s report: Lauren gave the treasurer’s
report and stated we have $54,746.37 in our TD
Bank checking account and $40,484.09 in our
Beneficial Bank account. We began monthly
mortgage payments to Beneficial on November
1st. The interest only payment for the first six
months will be $346. After that, we will include
payments toward the principal to pay down the
loan within 10 years.
South Beach Washout Repair project: Richard
distributed photos from the day after the August
storm and photos of the finished work. The
photos show the new bulkhead, two pipes and
new larger rocks we used. We are waiting for the
debris racks to be installed. There is an ongoing
issue of kids throwing the rocks into the lake. We
may have to mix some concrete to distribute over
the rocks to keep them in place. Total cost of the
project: $18,219.00.
Boy Scouts fence project: Richard said the
work was done over two weekends. In addition
to the fencing around the trash and recycle cans,
they completed a concrete pad for the recycle
cans and put in a few small trees as part of a
“green” project. There is another scout who
wants to do some work in the Spring to earn his
Eagle Scout badge.
Dam/Spillway project: Richard said this project
is the same as discussed at the last meeting.
Princeton Hydro continues to negotiate with the
State.
Richard said he will apply for a permit to lower
the lake in the Spring. This could take place
between March 15- March 29, 2012.
A member reported a large pot hole on Falls
Road across from the Beau Rivage. He was
advised to call the township manager to notify the
owner.
Jamie Kenyon discussed Breakfast with Santa
on Saturday, Dec. 10th from 9-11 a.m. Everything
is in place. We are also collecting for the Toys for
Tots drive and members are asked to drop off an
unwrapped toy.
Gina Fisher gave a
membership report. This
year we have 376 paid to
date members, including 270
non-senior full members,
76 basic members and
30 seniors. We also have 13 members on a
payment plan and 11 members yet to pay their
2011 dues.
Wayne discussed the need to market the
clubhouse more and to update the photos on our
web site. Brandy said she has new photos and is
working on this but it is difficult to size the photos
properly for the web site. Mike suggested we
contact Chris, the person who set up the site to
get help in doing this.
Brandy gave the rental report. Total for Sept.
thru Nov. was: 34 rentals which included 4
members and 30 non-members for total revenue
of $5,850. To date, there are 10 rentals booked
in December.
Laura announced the annual meeting will be
held on January 26th at which time there will be
an election of all officers and, with the exception
of one, 4 trustees. She encouraged members to
attend to cast their votes.
There has been an incident of trespassing
and some minor vandalism at South Beach.
The police were called. There are signs at
all beaches about no trespassing, but it was
suggested that a message be included in the
Pine Needle that vandalism will not be tolerated
and parents/guardians are financially responsible
for any damages caused by their children. The
Lake Pine neighborhood watch liaison with the
police is Officer Phil D’Alonzo.
Tom McMullen suggested taking a photo from
your cell phone and writing down license plates.
There have been problems on the beaches and
we need to stay focused on this. He said he also
found liquor bottles thrown into the brush near
the dam.
We will look into security cameras as part of
our electrical needs, especially at the clubhouse/
tennis courts area.
A discussion followed concerning the lake
lowering. A member asked that signs be posted
in advance as well as sending e-mail blasts and
Pine Needle postings. This gives members
adequate notice when the lake is lowered.

Bulk Trash
Medford Township eliminated curbside bulk
trash pick-up this past March. If you have bulk
trash, you now need to deliver it yourself to
the Public Works Garage, located on Gravelly
Hollow Road (off of Jackson Road). It is open
every Monday through Friday (except legal
holidays) from 7:00am until 2:00pm. The
Garage will remain open after business hours
only on Thursday evenings until 7:00pm. November, 2011
December General Membership Meeting,
continued from page 6
Also discussed weed treatment of the lake, which is
done about 2-3 times beginning in late May. We need
signs for weed treatment in addition to the small signs on
each beach. Several members use the lake water to water
their grass and the chemicals kill the grass.
Tom McMullen suggested that when we lower the lake in
the Spring, we only bring it down to the level we used for
the South Beach repair. This will help control the growth
of weeds.
A discussion followed about raking the beaches and
how volunteers used to do this work. Wayne said at East
Beach we rake the entire roped area and at South we
go out 40 feet from the beach. At Main, we go as far as
possible. Sue Grant suggested a community day where
volunteers could get a $10 reduction in their dues for
helping rake the beaches.
Brandy discussed the play date she started. There are
now 4 parents and 5 children who get together. She will
continue to put this item in the Pine Needle to attract more
parents.
Meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
