Francophonie Dictation
Contest.
The Francophonie dictation
contest was held on Wednesday,
March 21. All the MYP and the
Diploma classes were gathered
in the large auditorium. The
topic was an excerpt from the
book of Naguib Mahfouz.

Transition from primary to
college: P5 pupils spent a full
day in C1 classes, attending
various courses.
Egyptian culture and the Arabic language contest.
On Thursday, May 31 a contest was held on Egyptian
culture and the Arabic language. All MYP classes were
gathered in the large auditorium. Congratulations to
the winning team: Rodayna Zaki, Abdullah Aboud,
Karim Mourad, Sherry Ayoub, Magdi Malak, Abdel
Rahman Abboud as well Laila Tarek and Dina Mossad
for organizing the contest.
First Science Competition 28/05/2012
On Monday, May 28, the professors of the science
department organized the first science contest at
the C3 level to promote the sciences among Oasis
students. Congratulations to the winning team:
Mariam Zekri, Rodayna Zaki and Ahmed Wael who
won the science trophy for the academic year
2011/2012.

On Thursday, June 7, P5 pupils
presented their ideas and projects
at their exhibit with participation
of their families to celebrate the
end of primary school.

Christmas show on 22/12/2012 for PS, MS and GS students, with a magician, a
clown and of course Santa Claus, who came to distribute gifts.

for their hospitality and cooperation in the internship project.
Scout trip for elementary students
in Beit El Wadi, Wadi Natrun.
Scout trip for Diploma students from 2 to 6 January 2012: camping,
parachuting, diving, safari and climbing Mount Moses, St Catherine.

our choir, our orchestra and our solo
singer on 05/12/2012.
Three PYP and MYP students were
finalists in the toy competition
held by the Canadian Embassy in
Egypt. The distribution of prizes
was held at the Canadian Embassy
on 6/02/21012.
Meeting of D1 students and the French writer and journalist of Egyptian
origin, Robert Solé, on the occasion of the release of his work in Arabic «Lovers’
Dictionary of Egypt.»

Sports Association’s women’s
football team won the tournament
organized by the BCCIS School.
Valencia CF Cup, Easter 2012
From April 5 to 10, 2012, Oasis
International School participated in
the «Valencia CF Cup Easter 2012»
international football tournament
(category under 16), in Valencia,
Spain, with two teams totalling 31
students. The competition brought
together 12 teams in total in this
category (four women’s teams and
eight men’s teams) from England,
Spain, Brazil and Egypt.
World Children’s Day in Istanbul
From Thursday 19 to Tuesday, April 24, 2012, a
delegation PYP and MYP students participated in the
World Children’s celebration, organized by the City of
Esenler (a municipality in Istanbul, Turkey). This event
has been recognized by UNESCO since 1979.
As part of this trip, our students had the opportunity
to participate in various cultural visits (visit of the
Miniaturk Park representing all the monuments of
Turkey in miniature, a cruise on the Bosphorus, cultural and historic tours of Istanbul, etc.).
They also participated in various workshops on the
theme of peace: percussion, planting, visual arts, bread
baking ... and presented a performance of Egyptian
folk dances: Andalusian dance, «Simsimeya» dance,
Alexandrian dance, «Baladi» dance and «Dervish»
dance.
National Children’s Day at
the Residence of HE the
Ambassador of Turkey
On Saturday, April 28, 2012, Oasis
International School participated in the
National Children’s Day at the invitation
of HE the Ambassador of Turkey to
Egypt, Mr. Hüseyin Avni Botsali and his
wife, Mrs. Inci Botsali.
On this occasion, our group of
students from elementary, middle
and diploma presented the spectacle
they had prepared on the occasion
of their visit to Turkey: a show of folk
dances (Andalusian dance, dance of
the dervishes, «simsimeya» dance,
Alexandrian dance, «Habib» dance).
At the end of their performance, they
received a certificate of appreciation
from the Turkish Embassy.

COMMUNICATION
Preschool Sports Day 17/09/2011.
Oasis International School organized a sports day on Saturday, 17/09/2011 for
preschool students and their parents. It was a welcome initiative in order to familiarize
children with the school environment. We have received numerous very positive
reports from the 650 participants.

Annual meeting of Oasis School Alumni.
For several years, we hold an annual reunion for Oasis School Group alumni. These reunions
are now part of Oasis School tradition. To continue this fine tradition, on , January 27 Mrs.
Esmat Lamei, General Director, invited all alumni from the seven graduated classes to spend
an afternoon with us on the international MYP and diploma campus.

Participation in the JCIMUN (Cairo Junior Model United Nations) Conference
for D1 and D2 students on 22/09/2012 - JCIMUN: 2 students have been named
«Best delegates.»
Participation in the PAMUN (Paris Model United Nations) Conference at the
UNESCO headquarters in Paris from 1 to 4 December 2011.
International THIMUN Conference in the Hague from 22 to 27 January 2012. At
this conference our students had the opportunity to meet Mr. Sorman Ake, head
of academics for the IB.
OISMUN 2012
From Monday 20 to Wednesday, 22
February 2012, Oasis International
School held its fourth OISMUN (Model
UN) conference, bringing together
participants from six schools and
five different countries (Al-Hussan
International School Khobar in
Saudi Arabia, Chittagong Grammar
School in Bangladesh, Collegio Del
Mondo Unito dell’Adriatico in Italy,
Literargymnasium Rämibühl Zurich
in Switzerland and Bristish Columbia
Canadian International School and
Oasis International School in Egypt).
Participation in the celebration of Francophonie organized by the National
Committee for Francophonie on 22/03/2012.
Oasis of Francophonie
From March 29 to 31, Oasis International School held its first Day of Francophonie to
promote French culture and the French language worldwide. The event brought together
99 participants from 13 schools or organizations, from 7 different countries (BosniaHerzegovina, Egypt, USA, France, Lebanon, Tunisia, Turkey). Delegates prepared detailed
action plans to promote Francophonie in the following areas: digital culture, cultural and
linguistic diversity in the performing and visual arts, cultural and linguistic diversity in the
reading public, youth engagement, and integration into international business.
Celebration of World Food Day
on 16/10/2011 to raise awareness
of food issues worldwide and to
strengthen solidarity in the fight
against hunger, malnutrition and
poverty.
Celebration of International Day of Culture with presentations of several countries
in the world by primary students and presentations of different nationalities and
cultures represented in school by MYP students. Congratulations to the Belgium
team who came out on top.

competition of projects on road
safety organized by CEPSA. The
project prepared by Oasis school
won 2nd place in this contest.
Rice Straw project every Saturday
during the month of October
(working with farmers on
their farms in the El Sharkeya
governorate to convert rice straw
in block frm to be used as animal
feed instead of being burned.
Literacy Project for the illiterate members of the school’s service team set up by
Diploma students. Managed by 8 people.
Charitable actions by P3 and P4 students as part of the International Day of
Children.
Celebration of the International Day of Tolerance in preschool.
Visit to the El Sabeel orphanage on 20/11/2011 and the Dar El Saad orphanage
on 21/11/2011.
