Theme: The Sahaba (RA)
Project
Love for the Sahaabah
Each one of the Sahaabah (RA) is a
guiding star for mankind up to the day of
Qiyaamah. Each Sahaabi (Radi Allahu
Anhu) is actually an example of Nabi
(Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). Our love
for the Sahaabah (Radi Allahu Anhum) is
a proof of our love for Nabi (Sallallahu
Alayhi Wasallam). Our respect or the
Sahaabah (Radi Allahu Anhum) is an
indication of our respect for Nabi
(Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). It is
impossible for a true Muslim to love and
respect Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi
Wasallam) and at the same time hate
and disrespect the Sahaabah (Radi
Allahu Anhum).
Write a small essay on one
of the noble companions of
the Nabi (saw) & get a cool
prize!
Most beloved Children,
Assalamu alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa
barakaatuhu.
We hope that everyone is well and are all
enjoying Maktab this year. Every child must love
Maktab and enjoy every moment of it because
Maktab education will secure us the love of Allah
Ta’ala and take us all to Jannah, Insha Allah.
Whatever we learn at Maktab, we must also teach
it to our parents, brothers, sisters, friends and
relatives. Whatever good actions they will do
afterwards, Allah Ta’ala will record an equal
reward of what they do for us as well, Insha
Allah.
This month’s theme is on “The Sahaabah
(RA)”. They were the noble companions of
Rasulullah [sallallahu alayhi wasallam], the stars
of Islam and the ones responsible for bringing
Islam to us. Every Muslim must respect and love
every Sahaabi of Rasulullah [salalllahu alayhi
wasallam]. Masha Allah to all those who
participated in the last Al-Maktab project.
May Allah Ta’ala reward all of you for your
efforts. The essays about the importance of deeni
knowledge were really impressive.
The Sahaba (RA)
Every Nabi of Allah Ta’ala had a group of
followers who helped him spread the message
of Allah Ta’ala. After the Nabi passed away,
these followers continued with his effort and
spread his teachings to others. In this manner,
people would continue worshipping Allah
Ta’ala and followed the teachings of their Nabi.
Similarly, our beloved Nabi Hadhrat
Muhammad [sallallhu alayhi wasallam] also had
a group of followers who sat in his company,
learnt from him and obeyed his every
command. These people are known as The
Sahaabah. They totaled over a hundred
thousand. The Sahaabah (RA) are the most
excellent people in this ummah. They are
regarded to be the greatest of people after the
Ambiyaa (AS). The most excellent amongst the
-e-Raashideen.
Their rank is according to the sequence of their
khilaafat (leadership).
1. Hadhrat Abu Bakr (Radhi Allahu Anhu).
2. Hadhrat U’mar (Radhi Allahu Anhu).
3. Hadhrat U’smaan (Radhi Allahu Anhu).
4. Hadhrat A’li (Radhi Allahu Anhu).
All the Awliyaa (pious people) put
together cannot collectively equal the rank of a
single Sahaabi (companion of Rasulullah
[sallalahu alayhi wasallam]).
The world learnt Deen, The Qur-aan and The
Sunnahof Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi
Wasallam) from The Sahaabah (Radhi Allahu
Anhum). It is COMPULSORY to SHOW RESPECT
to ALL the Sahaabah (Radhi Allahu Anhum) and
to refrain from speaking ill of them and
criticizing them. Any person who speaks ill of
any Sahaabi is a great sinner. There is a fear
that such a person will lose his Imaan.
Respect for the Sahaabah
Our unbroken link to Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi
Wasallam) and the beautiful teachings of Nabi
(Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) is via the illustrious
Sahaabah (Radi Allahu Anhum). They are the direct
students of Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam).
Every aspect of the life of Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi
Wasallam) has been recorded and preserved by his
chosen students. Allah Ta’ala had selected the
Sahaabah (RA) to be the dedicated companions of
Rasulullah [sallallahu alayhi wasallam]. If it was
not
for the Sahaabah (Radi Allahu Anhum), the Deen of
Allah Ta’ala would have not reached us.
Our Imaan demands that we respect Allah Ta’ala,
we respect Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) and
we show respect to the companions of Nabi
(Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). In order for us to
derive full benefit from our Deen, we need to
respect, love and have full confidence in the
Sahaabah (Radi Allahu
Anhum).
“Hold fast onto my sunnah and the sunnah of my righteous
khulafa after me.

Hadhrat Salamah ibnul Akwa’a (RA)
Ghabah was a small village about four or five miles from Madinah Munawwarah.
Nabi's
[sallallahu alayhi wasallam] camels were sent to that place for grazing. Abdur Rahmaan
Fazari, with the help of a few disbelievers, killed the person looking after the camels and
stole them all. The robbers were riding their horses and all of them were armed. Salamah
bin Akwah (RA) was going on foot in the morning with his bow and arrows when he saw the
robbers. Although he was only a boy, he ran very fast. It is said that he could beat the fastest
Arab horse in a race. He was also a very good archer (expert with the bow and arrow). As
soon as he saw the robbers, he climbed up a hill and shouted towards Madinah
Munawwarah, calling for help. He chased the robbers and on approaching them, shot
arrows one after the other. He did this so quickly that the robbers assumed that they were
being chased by a large number of people. If any of the robbers happened to turn his horse
towards him, he hid behind a tree and shot the animal with his arrow. The robbers at once
ran off at full speed to escape being captured.
Salamah (RA) says: "I kept on chasing the robbers until all the camels taken away by
them were behind me. While escaping they left behind 30 spears and 30 sheets of cloth of
their own.
Meanwhile, Uyainah bin Hisn (another robber) and his party arrived to help the robbers.
They had come to know that I was all alone. They now chased me in large numbers and I
was forced to climb up a hill. As they were about to approach me, I shouted, 'Stop. First
listen to me. Do you know who am I? I am Ibnul Akwah. By Him who has given glory to
Muhammad [salllallahu alayhi wasallam], if anyone of you chases me, he cannot catch me.
On the other hand, if I run after any one of you he cannot escape me.' I kept on talking to
them in this manner to fool them till, I thought, help would reach me from Madinah
Munawwarah. 0
I looked anxiously through the trees, as I talked to them when at last I noticed a
group of riders headed by Akhram Asadi (RA) coming towards me. As Akhram (RA)
approached the robbers, he attacked Abdur Rahmaan and cut one leg of his horse. As Abdur
Rahmaan fell down from his horse, he attacked Akhram and killed him. Abu Qatadah (RA)
had meanwhile arrived. In the fighting that took place, Abdur Rahmaan lost his life and Abu
Qatadah lost his horse.”
It is written in some books of history that, when Akhram was going to attack Abdur
Rahmaan, Salamah (RA) advised him to wait till the rest of his people had joined him but he
did not wait, saying: "I wish to die in the path of Allah Ta’ala." He was the only person killed
from among the Muslims. The robbers lost a good number of their men. More help reached
the Muslims and the robbers fled. Salamah (RA) asked Nabi [sallallahu alayhi wasallam] to
permit him to chase them saying: "O, Nabi of Allah! Let me have one hundred men, I shall
teach them all a lesson." Nabi [sallalahu alayhi wasallam] said: "No. They would have
reached their homes by now."
Most of the historians say that Salamah (RA) was about 12 or 13 years old at that
time. Look, a boy of such a small age was able to chase so many robbers single-handed. He
recovered all the stolen goods and also took a great amount of booty from them. This was
the result of Imaan and Ikhlaas, which Allah Ta’ala had filled in the hearts of those blessed
people.
