The Music Conservatory “G. Tartini”, founded in 1903, is especially devoted to
the international cooperation, in accordance with the European standards.
The Tartini is also an active member of the
AEC – Association Européenne des Conservatories.
According to the most recent data by the LLP Italian Agency, since 2008 the
Tartini has been the Italian musical institution with the highest number of
outgoing and incoming mobilities.
The Trieste Music Conservatory has been mandated by the MIUR to plan,
design and implement the European tour of the National Orchestra of the
Italian Conservatories, in cooperation with the Conservatory of L’ Aquila with the purpose of promoting the Italian Higher Education in Art and Music
in the bicentenary of the Giuseppe Verdi’s birth.
The tour has taken place in September 2013. It started from Trieste and reached
Budapest, Krakow, Warsaw, L’ Aquila and Rome. The orchestra, conducted by
Antonino Fogliani, received warmest acclaim everywhere.

TheTartini used to promote several initiatives, such as facilities
for housing, transport and meal vouchers, scholarships, also
in cooperation with the University of Trieste.
Our students can also take advantage of special conditions
for the access to various concert series and theatres.
Every academic year the Conservatorio promotes more than
130 musical events, in accordance with Italian and foreign
institutions.
On summertime, the concerts are held at the MIRAMARE
CASTLE and in different prestigious locations of our region. In
2014, on February 14-15, the Conservatorio Tartini of Trieste
will host for the first time the AEC Pop and Jazz Platform
Meeting.

ECTS e DIPLOMA SUPPLEMENT
According with the European standards, the Conservatorio
Tartini applies the ECTS credit system.
In 2009 the Tartini was awarded the prestigious DS Label
Award 2009-2013 by the European Commission. The
Conservatorio Tartini is one of the first European musical
institutions that can boast of such recognition.

Many foreign students choose to study at the Tartini, one of the main historical institution in Italy. Since 2002 the Conservatory
has been promoting an intense plan of international mobility, for students and teachers, through the Erasmus and Leonardo
projects.
More than 60 Interinstitutional Agreements have been signed with many European Academies and Universities so that an
increasing number of students and teachers are allowed to go everywhere in Europe.
The Tartini is a partner in the Leonardo project Working with music that allows Italian young musicians, already graduated,
to realise a Placement in different locations such as theatres, churches, orchestras, Academies, hospitals for music therapy

The Conservatorio Statale “Jacopo Tomadini” in Udine
is the most important musical institution in Friuli. The
faculty staff includes eighty teachers and offers over forty
different courses, including all the practical, theoretical and
compositional disciplines for all kind of instruments, jazz
included.
It has a library, multimedia classrooms and a workroom for
recording and editing digital media; it also offers various
courses in computer music. Its formative tasks include
the First and Second cycle of university studies, as well as
specializations, and qualifying courses for Music Education
teachers.

The Conservatory occupies a large building in the city, Ottelio
Palace, and the former Court, with the aim of setting up a
modern and functional “urban core for music”; it is also well
integrated in the formative international context, especially
for Central Europe, through numerous exchange programs
(LLP, Erasmus, etc.) with other educational Institutions
abroad. It has got a partnership with the Moores School of
Music (Houston University).

In the Conservatory there are different kinds of orchestras: a
symphonic orchestra, a wind orchestra, a brass ensemble, a
youth string orchestra (Friuli Sinfonietta) and an orchestra of
harps (Ventaglio) a peculiar ensemble and not only in Italy.
These groups are often invited in prestigious venues and
collaborate regularly with world renowned conductors and
soloists, more than 100 concerts per year.

The Conservatorio is currently engaged in several research
projects, in collaboration with University of Udine. The Sala
Vivaldi regularly holds concerts, lectures, master classes and
seminars on music. The Conservatorio publishes a series of
“Quaderni”; produces CDs dedicated to important musical
works drawn from the local repertory as well as from the
most important masterpieces of the music history.
