THE REGION
Saalbach Hinterglemm is situated in the province of Salzburgerland close to the German
border. In winter the resort is recognised as one of the largest and most modern ski areas
in the alps. Saalbach Hinterglemm is also a sought after destination in summer with many
activities to experience. Framed by the rolling hills of the Pinzgauer grass mountains as well
as the imposing peaks of the Kitzbühler alps and the Hohen Tauern, the area is an ideal
destination for many activities in the great outdoors. The resort of Saalbach Hinterglemm
can be found in the Glemm Valley, which can be reached from one side only. At the
Talschluss (end of the valley), vistors will find an exciting world of adventure in a natural
environment amidst the mountains. Adventure for families with children, sporty activities
are action packed as well as possibilities to make a stop at one of the many huts and guest
houses, something for old and young alike. For accommodation, guests can choose from a

ARRIVAL
The region can be easily reached by car via the Motorway A8 Munich to Salzburg.
Alternatively, one can arrive by train, for example at Zell am See, or by plane landing at

In Summer there are four lifts in operation in Saalbach Hinterglemm, bringing guests to
the peaks of the Kohlmais, Schattberg, Reiterkogel and Zwölferkogel.

The Seven Summits of Saalbach Hinterglemm
Seven peaks, nine hours walking, 24 kilometres to an altitude of 1.413 paints the
picture of this mountaineering challenge for ambitious and sporty hikers.

Healing Herbal Trail
Hobby gardeners and nature enthusiasts can see the healing herbs and alpine flowers at
the Reiterkogel to learn the healing powers of more than 80 local plants.

BIG-5-BIKE Challenge
In Summer, the Big-5-Bike Challenge is a really special experience for touring bikers
and freeriders. An altitude difference of 5.000 metres will be conquered on this tour.

Montelinos Adventure Trail
Between the top and middle station of the Kohlmais lift, you will find the Montelinos
Adventure Trail for families and children with many amusing play stations.

Mountain and Expedition Kodok
The challenge with funny ‚Kobold‘ holds many adventures for children and youngsters.

Freeride: X-Line, Milka Line, Pro & Blue Line and the Z-Line
One of the longest Freeride trails in Europe. An easier mountainbike trail for young and

Hiking spirit – 400 km of Hiking Trails
An unforgettable panorama of the snow topped peaks of the Hohen Tauern with peaks
over 3,000 metres along with the stoney contours of the chalk alps. These views will
accompany the hiker step for step from the height of 1.003 m to 2.100 m

Käpt´n Hook – Outdoor pool adventure
The outdoor pool area "Käpt´n Hook" is an unique place to swim, covering an area of
1000 square metres with a wild water tube, climbing nets, massage deck chairs, whirl
bench and swing bay.

The Talschluss (end of valley)
Golden Gate Bridge with treetop path
At the Talschluss (end of valley) in Saalbach Hinterglemm, one can find the highest tree
top path in Europe along with the „Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps“. This excursion is
truely one of it’s kind.
Austria‘s largest high ropes course and Europe’s longest zip line
The high ropes course at the end of the valley in Saalbach Hinterglemm is made up of
many courses at varying levels from 3 to 40 metres high.
Mysterious Devil’s Water (Teufelswasser) at the end of valley in Hinterglemm
In the magical world of the Talschluss, one will find a large theme park, where there are
many games and wellness stations all set around the element of water.
Canyoning
The Canyoning Parcours offers jumps, slides, rope crossings and abseiling passages
which guarantees fun and action.
New! Jump & Slide Park
Jumps of up to 8 metres high and various slides (eg tubing slide).Air bags of up to 2
Metres high are the latest hight at the end of the valley (Talschluss).
LIFTS
In Summer there are four lifts in operation taking guests to the surrounding mountain
peaks of Saalbach Hinterglemm. At the top station of the Reiterkogel lift the adventure
trail of Berg Kodok and Expedition Kodok is awaiting a visit from our little guests. Bikers will
love the Freeride-trail, BLUE and PRO Line. The Kohlmais lift takes you to the Montelino’s
adventure trail and the Milka Line. The Schattberg X-press is the starting point for the
Seven Summits challenge and the Freeride-trail X-Line. One can reach the local loop trail
and Montelinos mountain peak play station, the Mountainbike trail ‚Z-Line‘ as well as the
Slackline Parcours with the Zwölferkogel lift.

HOLIDAY PLEASURES
Families can expect a true holiday paradise in Saalbach Hinterglemm. From an extensive
choice of themed trails to adventure pure with climbing and biking in the surrounding
mountain world, old and young will find many different attractions to keep themselves
amused. Come on out, a huge play area set amidst nature is waiting to greet you.
BETWEEN CLOWNS… AT THE KOHLMAIS
The unbelievable Kohlmais peak is something for the kids, where Montelino, the little clown
and his helper the clever owl are waiting to see you. The two will accompany the children
on Montelino’s adventure trail in the search for the clown’s lost toys. There are 13 amusing
play stations which lead the children along the trail from the top station to the middle
station. Ideal for both young and the young at heart and a great way to cool down, try out
Montelino’s water playground to have some splashing fun. One can collect the game pass
which is needed to solve the puzzle from the bottom station of the Kohlmais lift.
An extra tip for families is feeding the wildlife! An oversized wooden deer provides climbing
fans something to smile about and nearby one can watch the deer being fed.
Montelino‘s mountain peak playground at the top of the Zwölferkogel with lots of
amusing attractions such as a climbing area, curved slides, the Slackline parcours and
much more.
...AND KOBALD AT THE REITERKOGEL
At the top station of the Reiterkogel lift you will find Berg Kodok, a colourful adventure
world for young treasure seekers. The sneaky Kobold has stolen the magic hat from the
clown, who is the mascot of Saalbach Hinterglemm. By solving the puzzles on the Berg
Kodok you can help find the hat. Whoever is able to write down the correct magic word in
the adventure pass will receive a sticker and a chance to enter a competition at the bottom
station.
Unfortunately, the magic power was transferred to Kobold when the hat came into his
hands. To save the magic power, he transferred it to several magic crystals which he then
hid in secret places. By using a GPS device and a treasure map, these crystals can be found
during the „Expedition Kodok“. An adventure pass, the treasure map and a GPS device can
be collected free of charge at the bottom station of the Reiterkogelbahn.
WATER FUN AND TRAINING AT ALTITUDE
The Canyoning Parcours at the end of the valley takes you through water filled canyon –
as both a daring and cautious sportler, you will find the right line. The outdoor pool
„Käpt’n Hook“ with it’s wild water slides, offers refreshing fun on hot Summer days.
Crystal clear spring water awaits both tall and small water rats at the Devil’s Water at the
end of the valley. This exciting water theme park has various stations for playing and
wellness. Directly next to the Devil’s Water you will find Schnitza’s wood park, an
adventure playground focussed around the element of wood. Creative games and weekly
wood carving workshops show just what can be made from wood. Just a few metres
beyond, a real highlight is waiting for all those who like to get up high: Austria’s biggest
high rope course. Ready for some adrenaline? Slide down Europe’s longest zip slide!
The newest attraction (from June 2015) is the Jump & Slide Park. Jumps up to 8 metres
high as well as various slides (eg. tubing slides).up to 2 metres high. Airbags are the
newest highlight in Talschluss.
You must also see the treetop path which is situated right next to the other attractions.
Starting with the Golden Gate of the alps (a 200 m long hanging bridge), the treetop path
allows you to take a walk at the same level as the squirrels in the treetops. The hanging
bridge starts right next to the Lindlingalm. After crossing the bridge, you will find the start
of the 800 m long circular path. Made of massive larch wood, the path takes you via steps
over several floors to the treetops.
A SUMMIT TO SUIT EVERYONE
Saalbach Hinterglemm is the ideal base to explore the surrounding mountain area, from the
smooth contours of the grass mountains to the rocky peaks of the Kitzbüheler alps. 400 km
of well marked paths offer walking tours for everyone – sporty hikers and those who like to
ramble at a slower pace.
VIRTUAL HIKING WITH THE SUMMIT LYNX APP
With the smartphone App ‚SummitLynx‘ outdoor enthusiasts can record their success on the
mountains and share their experiences directly with friends and family. The summit (log)
book can be used worldwide and also accessed whilst offline (without network connection).
In addition, the „7 Summits of Saalbach Hinterglemm“ as well as the other traditional
hiking pins from the region can be shared on Facebook. Therefore, those who have stayed
at home can also follow individual tours and also gain something from the experience. The
App is free of charge and can be downloaded on both IPhone and Android.

FOR SEVEN LEAGUE BOOTS
The „Seven Summits of Saalbach Hinterglemm“ tour is a highlight for experienced
mountaineers. The tour is only for those are good physical shape and sure-footed. Good
equipment is a must for this tour. A hiking duration of nine hours, 24 kilometres and a
difference in altitude of 1,400 metres paints the picture of this moutaineering challenge.
The route offers amazing views over 2,000 metres. By using the virtual summit log book,
the Smartphone Summit Lynx App enables friends and family at home to follow your tour
live, as well as learning insider tips about the region. The starting point for this tour is at
the top station of the Schattberg X-Press.
HUNGRY FOR KNOWLEDGE?
If you would like to take the pace a little bit slower, you’ll find many panorama walks in and
around Saalbach Hinterglemm. For example, the well known Pinzgau Walk from Saalbach
Hinterglemm to Zell am See. Motion and knowledge combined: The homeland circular path
on top of the Zwölferkogel offers historic details about the development of Saalbach
Hinterglemm as a poor farmer’s village into an international tourist resort. Thrilling legends
and stories take you back in time to an eventful past. Directly on the Reiteralm, the alpine
flower and herbal path gives you an idea of the alpine flora and the local plants are used.
Along the way from the Reiterkogel top station, you will pass one of our reservoirs.
RACING WHEELS
An ‚Eldorado‘ is awating Touring bikers and Freeriders in Saalbach Hinterglemm: Over 400
kilometres of marked paths, single trails and downhill routes as well as comfortable
gondolas for bike transfer, action full Bike-Parks and extraordinary events which make us
one of the biggest ‚fun‘ biking destinations in Europe.
The Z-Line starts alongside the middle station of the Zwölferkogel with breathtaking views
of Saalbach Hinterglemm and towards the end of the valley. An absoloute highlight is the
the first ‚Wallride‘ with an integrated Snapshot-Station to take your photo as a piece of
memoribilia.
Maybe start off with the Milka Line at the Kohlmais. The 3,2 kilometre long Freeride trail
for tall and small alike. This is the ideal for a ‚fear free‘ and safe start for beginners, and
those who want to take it easy. At the Reiterkogel, there are two trails – PRO Line &
BLUE Line for a speedy descent. The BLUE Line was created with mountainbike beginners
in mind, at the same time offering speed junkies some fun. There are steep curves, small
jumps and flat Northshore elements. In contrast, the PRO Line is the place to go for
experienced and bold bikers. The daunting X-Line at the Schattberg is one of the longest
Freeride trails in Europe, with a lengh of over six kilometres and an altitude differene of
1.025 metres.
The trail snakes from the top station to the bottom station of the
Schattberg. Bikers can expect to sample a diversifying and natural trail with numerous root
passages.
REGIONAL DELICACIES
Fresh air and exercise, you will have an appetite! The many restaurants and huts in and
around Saalbach Hinterglemm will offer plenty of choice to fill you up. From local Pinzgau
dishes to a gourmet menu, there is something to suit everyone’s taste buds. The focus is
on the regional products. En-route hungry mountain bikers and hikers will have a choice
from over 30 mountain huts, for a hearty snack to regain their strength and something
to quench the thirst, as well as a great views to enjoy in the sunshine. Delicacies range
from Kasnocken (cheesey noodles), Speckknödel (bacon dumplings) to a local favourite
‚Ribs‘. An expecially tasty titbit is the Pinzgauer Blad’l, made from rye and wheat flour,
fried in hot fat and filled with sauerkraut, potato salad or kohlrabi. Some of the huts offer
an insight to the old ‚alm‘ traditions and mountain way of life, and may make their own
cheese and milk products.
ACCOMMODATION FROM A TO Z
In Saalbach Hinterglemm, holidaymakers can choose from a wide selection of
accommodation. There is something to suite every taste. Fully equipped holiday apartments
with lots of space and flexibility for families. Horsey fans and nature lovers will find a
holiday at the farm to their taste. For re-generation after a day out in the Sommer fresh
air, many hotels offer their guests use of a modern wellness area. From sauna to
swimming pool or beauty treatments, one can be sure to find the right offer. Green and
health – indulge in regational products at one of the Biohotels. Teenagers and youngsters
will feel especially at home in one of the more modern hotels. For those who want to
remain on the mountain after a day’s hiking or biking, there are a large number of
mountain huts to choose from which have much more to offer other than shared
accommodation.

The Summer in Saalbach Hinterglemm is colourful and entertaining. Thre are events galore
to entertain both young and the more mature!
04. – 07.06.2015:
19. Biker Mania Saalbach Hinterglemm
Year after year, thousands of Harleys arrive in the village of
Hinterglemm. Guided tours, Helicopter flights, customised
exhibits, the traditional Harley-Parade, a one kilometre long
shopping street, cool bands and open-air parties and not to
forget the hottest girls that the biker scene has to offer.
Celebrate until the early hours at this long weekend biker event.
02. - 05.07.2015:
GlemmRide – Bike Festival Saalbach
A sporty superlative party weekend. The Pro’s of the scene
show what they are made of at Slopestyle. The Downhill – test
yourself on the Pro Line, on which the kids can also show off
their talent. Throughout the weekend tours and biking
technique courses will be offered with the Pros. With 50
exhibitors it will be possible to test out the latest models.
Numerous attractive side events and contests ensure a long
weekend full of fun and action. DJs along with rock and punk
bands as well as Hip Hop sessions make the festival a unique
experience. In addition to open air stages, celebrations will also
take place in the various bars and clubs.

17.07.2015:
Montelino Children‘s Festival
The little Clown Montelino will entertain children and their
parents with an amusing magic show. Also, a huge bouncy
castle and countless play stations.
18. & 19.07.2015:
4. Congregation of Wood
Numerous artists, carpenters and handworkers are invited
to Saalbach Hinterglemm. All artists will showcase their
pieces
on
the
villages
streets
of
Saalbach
and
Hinterglemm on Saturday and Sunday.
24. – 26.07.2015:
5th Lake of Charity
At the Westgipfel reservoir in Hinterglemm daring water sports
men/woman will gather. Whether it be by Mountainbike,
Snowboard, BMX or Bobby car – the drive is attempt to spring
from a ramp over the lake. All proceeds from this event are
donated to a good cause.
07. – 09.08.2015:
34. Hinterglemmer Farmers Market
For the 34th time the legendary Farmers Market will take place.
Whip crackers, Rifle Club, traditional groups such as the local
music group connect the more tradional and modern aspects of
the Pinzgau region.
16.08.2015:
Schattberg King & Queen
Mountain Running: There are two disciplines: The Sprint, where
the participants have to climb 1077 metres in altitude and the
mountain race, where eleven summits have to be crossed over
a distance of 24 km.

19. – 23.08.2015:
3. Saalbach Classic
Rally World Champion, Walter Röhrl is the host at the SaalbachClassic. Participants from all over Europe cover over 600 km in
the Austrian alps in their rare automobiles on this three day
rally. Oldtimer lovers need to put this date in their diaries.
21.08.2015:
Kodok Fest
By facepainting, the kiddies can transform themselves
into Kobold and be entertained at the Kobold Puzzle, bullriding or on the bouncy castle.
10. – 13.09.2015:
17. World Games of Mountainbiking
Winners will be determined in the disiplines of Marathon, Cross
Country, Downhill, Kids Downhill and the Junior Trophy.
Mountain bikers will battle it out to win the World Games
Champion title on four demanding marathon routes between 31
and 80 Kilometres long with altitudes between 1.160 to 3.678
metres
Kids Downhill for our smaller bikers between 10 and 15 years of
age and the Junior Trophy in five age groups for those between
4 and 14 years.
16. – 20.09.2015:
2. Musi Berggaudi
Music will be performed on open air stages and at various
mountain huts where one can also enjoy a morning pint –
During this weekend, everything is about traditional Austrian
music.
09. – 11.10.2015:
1. Alpin Juwel Cart Trophy
Hinterglemm is going to be a racing circuit! The Alpin Juwel
Cart Trophy takes place from 9th to 11th October 2015. More
