Flickr Tutorial
In this tutorial you will be taken though the steps of creating a Flickr
account. The tutorial will also help allow you to do the basics of Flickr:
upload a picture, title, tag and comment on a photo. The tutorial will only
discuss two other features which are the geotag and photo sharing feature.
Flickr allows its users a wide variety of other options that will not be
covered in this tutorial
Step1- You must have a Yahoo! account. If you do not you must first create
a Yahoo! account. From the Flickr webpage you need to create a Flickr
account. If you have one already you may simply sign in.

Step 2- Create a Flickr account by using you Yahoo! ID and password

Step 3- Create the Flickr account

Step 4- Getting started. Let’s focus on step number two (2) first. Let’s
upload a picture.

Step 5- Follow the first two steps in the next section to upload a picture.

Step 6- You can add titles and tags to your photo here as well as a comment
or description of you picture. TAGS allow you to find photos by
commonality (ex. Names (Johnny), location (Germany), etc.). Titles allow
you to give a description of the picture in detail. Describe the picture to help
the viewer gain context. BE SURE TO PRESS SAVE AT THE BOTTOM
OF THE SCREEN.

Step 7- The main page. In the shot on the left you see the top portion of the
page and on the right you see the bottom portion of the page. The screen
shot on the right shows where you can add comments to your photo or other
friend’s photos. The screen shot on the left is where we are heading next.
Click on the “Add to your map”

Step 8- Now it is time to place your picture on the map. The picture can be
placed as general or specific as you like by using the toggle on the right side
of the map. Just simply drag and drop the picture. The second map shot is
more detailed to give you a comparison. The second map I placed the photo
in Germany proper.
Step 9- The last thing is now to simply invite people to share your photos
with. On the contacts button on the menu bar select INVITE FRIENDS
from the drop down menu to get to the screen below. You do need to know
your friends e-mails. If you have that information it is that simple as filling
in the boxes below and hitting send.

Step 10- You’re done! This tutorial has given you instructions on how to do
the following:
• Create a Flickr account
• Upload a photo into Flickr
• Create a title, description, tag, geotag, and comment for
your photo
• Share photos with other people
Flickr is a web based community that centers on video and photo sharing. This tutorial is
only meant to be a cursory introduction to the website to show you some possibilities in
your classroom. There are more features that can enhance the learning environment.
