There’s nothing like fall in northern Michigan.
I love the beautiful color, crisp evenings and
unbelievable sunsets. Nothing beats enjoying
chili, roasts and apple crisp, and Friday
night football! Hopefully, this letter finds you
enjoying all your favorite parts of fall, too!
Congratulations to Crystal Mountain Junior Elite

Crystal Mountain was very well represented at the
regional finals, which was held at Prestwick Village
in Highland, with three other Junior Elite Students
competing for a chance at Augusta.
The Crystal Mountain Team is thrilled for Anika and
so pleased to be a part of her journey. We suspect
this won’t be the last we hear of Anika’s success
in golf.
As we look ahead to winter, please make
note of our new winter slope hours listed on
page two. It’s also a good time to plan ahead
for prepaid slopes cards and pool punch

NEW! PARTNERSHIP WITH
PR EPAI D
Crystal Mountain has made the strategic decision to switch to Burton
snowboards, boots and bindings. Burton is the industry’s iconic
brand, and has been a pioneer in the sport since the beginning. Their
dedication to innovation in the sport prompted our switch; Burton
continually advances technology and promotes community outreach
to bring new participants to the sport each season. Their unique
Riglet program incorporates new tools to bring young riders to the
slopes, and we are excited to be a part of this approach.

M E M B E R SPOTLIGHT
THE KRAUS FAMILY • WINTERGREEN & TRAILSIDE OWNERS
4.
Chuck & Judy Kraus joined the Four Seasons Club in the fall of 2011
when they purchased a Wintergreen condominium. Chuck first
came to Crystal Mountain during an annual April steelhead fishing
trip about four years ago on the recommendation of a local fishing
guide, Jon Ray, who works for Hawkins Outfitters. It was, as they say,
“love at first sight,” Chuck explains, “Our eventual dream is to build a
home in Trailside and live in northern Michigan.”

Chuck is a physician with a specialty in urology. He was trained
at University Hospitals of Case Western Reserve University in
Cleveland, Ohio and he’s practiced in Canton, Ohio for 32 years.
Judy was employed as an RN in the pediatric surgical intensive
care unit at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland.
She retired after the birth of their second son to focus on managing
the home and raising their family, which eventually grew to include
four sons.

served as the board president. They volunteer together at The
Cuyahoga Valley National Park patrolling the Ohio and Erie Canal
bike path and hiking trails as “Trailblazers.” They also volunteer
during the winter at the park’s winter sports center, outfitting people
with cross country skis and snow shoes.
Chuck and Judy have four sons, three lovely daughters-in-law and
one precious granddaughter. Matt and wife Angie Vargas live in
Queens, New York. Both are employed in the film industry. Adam,
