Three Nights in Lake Tahoe
Cathy Gale has a condominium at Lake Tahoe which she's once again willing to share with us! It is in Incline Village,
Nevada (north shore). It is not available Christmas or New Year, but pretty much any other time can be worked out. The
home is comfortable, but not fancy and has room to sleep up to 10 people if they like each other. It has 3 floors and a
loft. The first floor has a large bedroom with 1 king bed and a trundle (2 twins) and a full bath. The second floor is the
kitchen/dining/living area (one couch has a fold out full size bed) and there is a half bath. The third floor has a TV room,
a bedroom with 2 extra long twins and a bath. Stairs from the TV room lead up to the loft where there are 3 more twin
beds. There are decks on the 2nd and 3rd floors overlooking the 6th hole of the Mountain golf course (an "executive"
course) and a seasonal stream. It is not child proofed for very young children - lots of stairs that have no child gates. In
winter there is skiing at nearby Diamond Peak a very family friendly area. Mt. Rose and Northstar are about 20 minutes
away. It is about 45 minutes to Alpine Meadows. Incline Village has 2 golf courses, open late spring to early fall. And of
course there is Lake Tahoe and all that the area has to offer. The condo is about 1 mile up the hill from the lake.

MENLO PARK CHICKEN BROTH
Arnie has been making broth for over 20 years. He aims for a clear chicken flavor, using the whole carcass, no innards,
adding just enough savory to accent but not distract from the chicken flavor. Chicken, water, yellow onion, carrot, celery
leaf, fennel stalk, thyme, bay leaf, tarragon, peppercorn. No salt. Triple strained and de-fatted. All the veggies and herbs
from our garden, save the peppercorn. Note: This broth is high in collagen (protein) that may settle to the bottom. Just
shake it. Great in soups, beans, casseroles, gravies, turkey dressing, etc.. (Draeger's offers their 'homemade' chicken

Arnie and Paula's Menlo Park garden was on Common Ground's Edible Garden Tour in 2012. They have over 20 fruit
trees and 500 sq ft of raised garden beds on their small city lot (no grass). They want to share their enthusiasm and
knowledge of urban gardening. They are offering this year: garden produce—fruits and veggies in season— ALL
ORGANIC. No pesticides. Watered from their 50+ rain barrels. Trees: They have Apple, Avocado, Asian Pear, Donut
Peach, Fig, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Persimmon, Santa Rosa Plum, Tart Plum. Winner will share in their harvest,
seasonally, recognizing that nature is fickle, and we are in a drought. This year they had Potatoes, Cabbage,
Cauliflower, Broccoli, Beets, Carrots, Kale, Romaine, Chard, Butternut Squash, Spinach, Lettuces, Tomato, Zucchini,

Flying Frog from Bali
The flying frog has a wonderful tapestry of symbolism woven around it. A regular frog symbolizes transformation since it
starts its life in the water as a tadpole and changes to a creature which can live on either land or water, and a flying frog

Wildflower Hike on Jasper Ridge Saturday, March 19, 10 am
A docent will lead a group of 8 adults on a tour of Jasper Ridge -- 2 to 2 1/2 hours of walking on hilly terrain for about 3
miles. Lunch afterwards on picnic tables near the main gate (Ellen will get your sandwich orders closer to the date).
Bring your own water. There is no fee for the tour but they do like a donation. Meet at the church parking lot at 9:15 AM

The Santa Cruz Mountains by Moonlight: A Docent-Guided Hike with Dessert on Saturday, August 20,
5:30 till 10:30 p.m.
Join Kat Greene, Debbi Brusco, and Jack Owicki for a special night at one of the open space preserves along Skyline
Boulevard. We'll pick which preserve to visit later on, depending on the one that promises the best hike closer to the
time of the event. Starting around 5:30 p.m. while the sun is still up, we'll wander to a good spot to eat dinner, pausing to
talk about what we see along the way. You bring your own dinner, but we'll provide the dessert. Then we’ll see how the
landscape changes under the light of the full moon. Who knows what interesting night critters we might encounter? If
you wish, you’ll have a chance to experience a solitary ten-minute night walk as we return, arriving back in the parking
lot by 10:30 p.m. Our route will probably be three to four miles, with a cumulative elevation change of a few hundred
feet. We might be able to get permission from the Open Space District to stay out until 11:00 p.m., so we can get more
time in the dark.

Birding with Dan in the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area
Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area is 25 square miles of stunningly beautiful wetlands between Davis and Sacramento. Dan
Harper will take you and your friends birding in Yolo Bypass on a mutually convenient date. Whether you’re a novice or
an experienced birder, you could see 40+ different species of birds, depending on the time of year. The terrain is flat,
and you can see a great deal from your car, so persons of all physical abilities can participate (children should be 8 and
up, otherwise they get bored pretty quickly). The details: Dan will drive up to three of you in his hybrid car, and three
more can come in their own car, pick-up at UUCPA. Dan has loaner binoculars for up to three people. Dan will provide a

Spectacular Murals of the Mission: Street Art Tour in San Francisco Monday, December 14, 11 AM - 2

Back by popular demand and now including the fantastic "Mission School" art of Clarion Alley, never seen on this tour
before--in fact, all but one of the murals is new to the tour. San Francisco's Mission District is famous for its murals and
other street art, and public-art aficionado Amy Zucker Morgenstern will be your docent in this living museum, making
use of her major in art (and they said it wasn't practical!). We'll put on our most comfortable shoes, meet at a terrific
taqueria in the heart of the Mission for lunch, then take an hour-long walking tour, ending up at a delicious bakery for
dessert; the meals, like the art and good company, are included in the package. We'll begin and end near a BART
station if you'd prefer public transportation, or there's easy parking nearby. The tour covers 1.5 miles in about an hour,

Tsuzuki for a pre-concert casual dinner followed by a performance by the San Francisco Choral Artists, one of the
premiere a cappella ensembles in the Bay Area. Featuring Ivor Davies’ "Prayers from the Ark,” and works by Milhaud,
Mendelssohn, Zimpel, and Schönberg, and feature a few world premieres as well. This concert promises to be both

Experience Yin Yoga, a meditative, healing practice using passive, long-held floor poses. Yin yoga bypasses the
muscles and allows you to nourish and strengthen the deeper tissues. Connective tissues, fascia, joints, ligaments and
bones receive gentle, low load stress. The poses are held between 2-5 minutes and the muscles stay passive in order
to pass the stress on to the deeper tissues. Each Yin pose is an opportunity to go inward and find an appropriate
