Aquanaut
Toilet Chair
· Removable trunk support – Channelled arm troughs encourage the child to hold
the support and thus hip flexion increases past 90˚ to promote muscle relaxation
and minimize extensor patterns
· Variable width aperture – The Aquanaut aperture is slim at the front to maximize
sitting support and reassure kids that they “won’t fall in”
· Optional hip pads provide more intimate stabilization of the pelvis, while
accommodating the child’s growth
· The side lateral supports provide trunk support for children who require it
· Independent, bi-level foot support helps to position the lower extremities to
achieve 90˚ flexion at the knees and ankles and at least 90˚ flexion at the hips
· The optional wall bracket provides convenient storage for Aquanaut while
not in use

Cushions and Backs
Ottobock Shape System (OBSS®)
Custom contoured wheelchair cushions
For individuals with complex positioning needs, OBSS custom contoured
cushions provide the support and pressure relief they can’t get from OTS or
custom configured seating systems.
Fitting Equipment
OBSS custom contoured cushions are sculpted to fit to each individual’s
unique anatomy. Before ordering a cushion, a detailed patient fitting is
performed using the portable fitting equipment and CAD/CAM image
capturing tools. No plaster or foam casts are required. The digitized image
is captured using state-of-the-art software and electronics, and then emailed
to our service fabrication department. An image of the seating system
can also easily be printed out and submitted with other documentation
for reimbursement and funding decisions. It’s a clean, quick, easy and
extremely accurate process. All of which is supported by an unparalleled
commitment to continuing education for customers and clinicians.
Custom Contoured Cushions
At our fabrication facility, we use a unique five-axis carving tool to create
cushions that match your patient’s exact contours; an essential element
for effective pressure distribution. OBSS custom contoured cushions are
available with a choice of coverings ideally suited for your specific patient’s
needs. Every order received at our facility is handled individually and
reviewed at every step to guarantee accuracy and quality. In fact we offer a
60 day guarantee of satisfaction with each cushion. If you’re not completely
satisfied with our work, we will remake it at no charge or issue credit within
the first 60 days.
How it Works
Step 1: Fit Your Client
It’s easy to fit your client with the system’s special fitting base
and fitting bags. The fitting base offers tilt‑in‑space, an adjustable
seat‑to‑back angle and an adjustable seat depth to ensure you have
the flexibility to capture an accurate shape.
Step 2: Transfer the Fitting Bags to the Digitizing Stand
The fitting bags are available in multiple sizes and with two bead fill
options. The bags are designed to hold their shape long after fitting
so you can return to your office for digitizing if necessary. To digitize,
simply place the fitting bags on the digitizing stand.
Step 3: Capture the Shape
The digitizing process captures your client’s shape in an easy‑to‑use
software program you install on your computer. Using the digitizer’s
stylus, an entire seating system is typically digitized in less than
ten minutes.
Step 4: R
eview, Edit and Email the File
Once captured, you can view the 3‑D image in numerous renditions.
You can also edit the complete 3‑D image or a single digitized
line. The software also allows you to add special fabrication
considerations to the file.

Additional Custom Contoured Seating
NuShape Seating
NuShape Seating is custom contoured seating for clients with significant fixed
postural deformities and/or abnormal tone. Each system is carved on a 3-axis
router, hand detailed, and layered with appropriate interface materials to suit
the pressure relief requirements of the patient. A cast or mold is needed for
fabrication, along with a completed order form.
The base is fabrication from ½˝ 9-ply Plywood, a 4 lb. Polyethylene foam base
and multiple options for interface foams. The surface that touches the patient is
generally finished with a material like Darlexx®, Dartex® or Neoprene®. Support
options include: swingaway lateral trunk, quick release lateral high/thigh, and
flip down abductors.
Foam in Place Seating
Foam In Place custom contoured seating is available for seat and back
modifications. The Foam in Place Seat Modification has
built in ABS( plastic) laterals to provide support during the foaming process.
1 1/4˝ viscoelastic foam is included to ensure that adequate pressure relief is
attained. Dual side mount zippers in the cover allow easy access to pour the foam.
Comes with soft liquid Sunmate foam chemicals.
The Foam in Place back Modification utilizes a plywood base and ABS laterals
that allow the back to be made to any height or width specification. The interface
surface uses a four way stretch material for maximum contouring and has a zipper
at the top of the cover for easy access. Comes complete with soft liquid Sunmate
chemicals to make the custom molded back. A low profile foam in place back
is an additional option to provide a custom back for clients that do not require
aggressive contouring or built in lateral supports.
Free form foam in place chemicals are also available for purchase separately.
Planar Seating System
For adults and children, complementing multiple mobility bases
NUTEC seating works with almost all adult and pediatric mobility bases,
including the discovery tmax tilt-tilt-in-space mobility base, the Kimba® pediatric
wheelchair, and the Skippi pediatric power wheelchair. NUTEC seating is highly
customizable and adjustable with nearly unlimited options. It can even be
personalized with your choice of fabric colors, an embroidered name or image.
NUTEC seating is complemented by a wide range of hardware and accessories,
including headrest, trunk supports and much more.

ComforT® Cushion
Wheelchair seat cushion with temperature modulation
The Floam® cells in the ComforT cushion contains phase change materials to
absorb heat and keep the seat interface up to 10ºF (6˚C) cooler than any other
ordinary wheelchair cushion. Less heat means reduced tissue stress and
moisture, and the reduced likelihood of pressure sores. Plus, the ComforT
cushion delivers superior stability and full immersion for optimal seating. It
comes with a moisture‑repellent cover.

The Adjustable Seat
The Adjustable Seat improves the sitting position of the wheelchair user.
It provides a solid, stable base for the wheelchair cushion. It eliminates
the potential for bottoming-out or hammocking, which may occur with
conventional seat upholsteries.
The seat height and the inclination angle can be adjusted with
The Adjustable Seat.

The Back Series
Back 3
The Back system is a firm back system built for wheelchairs according
to the modular principle. It supplements the seating system and ensures
increased sitting tolerance and comfort. Different designs allow The Back to
be individually adapted.
Back 2
Simple mechanics make it possible to adapt The Back to the wheelchair or to
remove it for transporting. The wheelchair remains collapsible in any case.
Back 1
The Back can be used with Ottobock headrests and other accessories.

Ottobock’s side thoracic supports provide effective, comfortable lateral trunk
support or anterior support. While some contouring is built into the design
of the pad, it can be further adjusted to conform to an individual’s thorax by
hand-shaping the metal insert. To facilitate client positioning and transfers,
the side thoracic support pads can be raised and swung away. Ottobock’s
full line of mounting hardware includes regular, dropped and extended kits.
