How to Have Happy Hearts on Valentines’ Day
By Emmie Bynum, Marissa Bruns, Dalila Dumbleton, Nicholas Hurtado, Jake Larsen, and Mackenzie Smith
When people participate in Valentines’ Day, it is love and caring for everyone, right? Marissa Bruns states that “…in some
classes, students give out Valentines to everyone. The cards say, “Happy Valentines’ Day,” but they don’t really mean anything. “You have that feeling of ‘thank you,’ but there is not really a spark that ignites a feeling or connection to others,”
says Emmie Bynum.
So, students, here’s what to do to help everyone feel great on Valentines’ Day:
Notice your classmates’ strengths, and write messages in their Valentines’ Day cards. Let them know that you notice what is
positive about them.
Include “….things that are homemade. They share thoughts and feelings. People put their mind to doing things for others
because they care about them,” says Mackenzie Smith.
Think about how words mean more than what can be bought. Send positive messages in your cards to the people in your life.
Candy, hearts, and cards are nice, but they don’t mean more than kind words.” Your words can mean the world to someone,”
Dalila Dumbleton concludes.
