Director of Transportation, Social and Recreation
Summer is almost over and we can now look forward to fall and winter events. Thank you to
everyone who volunteered at the Relay For Life, GMPI’s Fun Festival and 2012 SOMA summer games. None of these events would be possible without your dedicated commitment to
GMPI. Thank you also to all GMPI management & staff who strive to provide the best possible services and programs to the folks we serve.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming Forrest Memorial Road Race as well as
several other GMPI social and recreational programs.

On September 23, 2012, we will be running the 28
TH
ANNUAL JIM FORREST MEMORIAL
ROAD RACE. All the proceeds from this Race will benefit Greater Marlboro Programs, Inc.
(GMPI), and Special Olympians of the Metro West communities.
We are asking for your support in sponsoring the Jim Forrest Memorial Road Race.
For the
past 27 years the Forrest Memorial Road Race has been giving back to the local community by
supporting GMPI services. GMPI is dedicated to promoting rights and dignity of individuals with
developmental disabilities. Several of the GMPI Recreation and Special Olympic programs are
funded entirely from donations from the Forrest Memorial Road Race and would have to be discontinued if proceeds were not received on a yearly basis.
T
his Race is held in Memory of Jim Forrest, who was very active in Marlborough recreation and
politics. Jim was a Marlborough Firefighter, and a Marlborough City Councilor for over twenty
years. He was a founding member of the Marlborough Boys & Girls Club and on the Board of
Directors of the Marlborough Recreation Department. Jim did all this while also raising nine
children.
Last year through the generosity of sponsors and the hard work of the over 250 walkers and
runners, the Forrest Memorial Road Race was able to present a check for $18,000.00 to Greater
Marlboro Programs, Inc. from the race proceeds. This funding provided a wide variety of social
and recreational programming which are funded entirely by donations and community grants.
As a donor to the Forrest Memorial Road Race you become part of the legacy of caring and
support that has improved the lives of the individuals and families served by GMPI. Remember
that because GMPI is a no-profit organization your gift is tax deductible.
Please help support this event by mailing your donation to: GMPI- c/o Forrest Memorial Road
Race, 40 Mechanic Street, Suite 100, Marlborough, MA 01752
Thank you for your generosity and support.
