From The Principal’s Desk
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
This is week six of our first term
which means that we’re just about
half way there. Thank you to parent
support for getting the children into
school uniform. At the assembly on
Monday I noticed only four students
wearing incorrect clothing.
Black
leggings are not part of the school
uniform, nor are black shorts.
Students arriving late to school
Please make sure that your children
are at school by 8.45am every day.
Late comers are very disruptive to
classes and the children arriving late
miss out on those very important
parts of the learning day.
Below is a summary of late arrivals
from K-7 over the past 6 weeks:

Parent Survey
It is a requirement of schools to
conduct a survey of parents attitudes to the school, whether or
not parents have concerns, or
would like to see something
change, or would like the opportunity to give feed back on the
many positive aspects of school
life. We have put a parent satisfaction survey on the department
internet site where you can access the survey and have your
say.

On our school records we have
only 76 families with email addresses. If you have an email address and would like the survey
emailed to you please notify the
front office. The survey site will
end on the 5th April.
CAPs Program
Mr Jamie Polich is our teacher in
A5 this year and the students are
engaged in some very stimulating
learning experiences.
One of
This is a serious amount of these is the Guided Reading Sesdisruption to the learning sion.
programs and I call upon parents to ensure that every
child is ready for lessons at
the beginning of the school
day. Of course there are instances
where students have medical appointments and then a late note is
issued.

Library News
March 2nd was DR. SEUSS DAY. This world wide event celebrates the author Dr. Seuss, who had
sold 200,000,000 books throughout the world by the time of his death in 1991.
To celebrate this special day, the children in year 3/4 in B6 made a wonderful display in the
Library. The display consists of oil pastel book characters, research about Theodor Seuss Geisel
(Dr. Seuss was a pen name), and 3D Cat in the Hat peg holders. There is also a competition to enter with book prizes being awarded at a future school assembly. Please come in and have a look at
this great display.
The students in B6 also made 3D Cat in the Hat peg holders for a friend in year 2 B5 and then
hosted a special afternoon in the library where they could do any of the 6 activities on the theme of
Dr. Seuss.
Congratulations to B6 for their fine efforts and thank you to B5 for joining in the celebrations.

On Tuesday 12th March, Tom Roach came to our school with Rick the Rock to talk to us about
respect, healthy lifestyle and anti-bullying.
The talk also emphasizes values education and the “Five R’s”;
•
Respect yourself.

•
Respect the environment
•
Reaching out into the community
•
Reaching your potential
Everyone enjoyed seeing Rick the Rock, he made everyone laugh and put a smile on our faces.
We all thanked Mr. Webb for organising everything and letting the Swan View children to see him.
A few Eagles players will be coming to school on the 19th March and Interschool team boys for footy

Many thanks to those students who supported our first sausage sizzle fund raiser for this year. A
total of $275.00 was raised which is a great start. Thanks go to the parent helpers who assisted
with the wrapping and distribution of sausages and a special thanks to Dave Doyle who comes
along each time and cooks the sausages and onions for us. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Also congratulations to Jasmin Donnelly of B6 who was the lucky winner of the $10 canteen
voucher.
The second sausage sizzle for the term will be held on Monday March 25th not

P & C NEWS
Dear Parents/Carers
We are running two Easter raffles. One is an allergy free raffle for those who cannot eat chocolate and the
chocolate Easter egg raffle has three prizes. Tickets are 50c each or 3 for $1.00. The raffle will be drawn
at the assembly on March 27th. Just in time for Easter!
We are asking for Mother's Day stall donations again please, there is a collection box in the front office and
we thank you for supporting the P and C.
The stall will be held on Friday the 10th of May, for students from pre primary though to year 7. This is the
first Friday back after the Term one holidays.
The next P and C meeting will be held on Tuesday the 9th April in the library. All parents/ carers are welcome to attend.
We have a family in our community who is in need of assistance with clothing, food, and other household
items. Any donations for this family would be greatly appreciated. If you can assist please leave your name
and number with the school office and we will contact you. We had a great response from kitchen warehouse in Midland, Harvey Norman, CNC hair, Rebel Sports and some local Swan View businesses. We
thank them and every one who has helped out so far.
We feel blessed to be part of such an outstanding community who has rallied together to support someone
local in a time of need. Thanks Yolanda Von Kloeg for her extra help in organizing donations.
