The AN148 and the AN158
can land in conditions where
visibility is close to zero.
These abilities were confir
med by results of the AN148
operation, that started on June
2, 2009. At present, 15 airpla
nes of the family are operated
by four airlines of Russia and
Ukraine. They mastered more
than 70 domestic routes of Uk
raine and Russia as well as in
ternational air ways. They per
form flights to 75 cities in 37
countries of the world. Monthly
flight time of one of the AN148s
of Rossiya Airline exceeded
400 hours, average for the fle
et reached 320 hours per air
plane. The AN148s carried
about 1,500,000 passengers.
These airplanes can be ef
fectively used by Indian airli
nes. ANTONOV Company has
submitted an application as for
the AN148 Type Certificate
validation to the DGCA of India.

nues work on widening the ran
ge of after sales supports servi
ces for the aircraft. At present,
the Customer Support Informa
tion Centre works 24 hours a
day at ANTONOV Company. In
addition, ANTONOV has estab
lished a fullfunction service

Aircraft of the family of the
AN148 and the AN158 regio

city from 68 to 99 passengers
were created by ANTONOV
Company in cooperation with
more than 200 enterprises
from 15 countries of the world.
The wide experience and
knowledge of these compani
es, in combination with the
most innovative technologies
used in their development put
these airplanes in the row of
the advanced airliners in the
world. The newest achieve
ments of aviation science have
been implemented in almost
every their system. These reli
able airplanes meet modern
and perspective airworthiness
and ecological requirements.
The new aircraft can fly on
any routes, including those
ones with intensive air traffic,
under VFR and IFR weather
conditions, by day and at
night. They are able to be ope
rated from/to wide net of good
and poorequipped airfields,
including those with difficult
approach paths, placed in po
pulous regions and on moun
tain terrains at a height of up to
3,000 m above sea level. Besi

The Flight Crew Training
Centre at ANTONOV trains
flight and technical personnel
of the customers. While trai
ning pilots on the AN148, a
complex D level simulator, de
veloped and built by ANTONOV
specialists, is used. A pilot can
fully imitate flight situations
including failures in all sys
tems. This simulator provides
the highest level of flight crew
training and, accordingly, of
flight safety.

produced at ANTONOV Serial
Plant and at Voronezh Aircraft

Three AN-148s are being operated by “Ukraine International Airlines”
of wide international cooperati
on. At present the partners on
the programme take measures
to reduce prime cost of the air
craft production and to accele
rate the pace of their manufac
turing.
Following customers' de
mands and studying their re
quirements, ANTONOV is de
signing new airplanes of the fa
mily. One of them is the
89seat AN148200. The
AN148300 high comfort air
craft will be able to carry VIP
passengers over a distance up
to 7,000 km. Transport and
specialpurpose variants of the
aircraft are being developed as
well. The AN-148 of “Rossiya” airline

development of transport air
craft . It is evidenced by the
66years of the Company's
history. During this time the
AN8, AN12, AN22 Antei,
AN26, AN32, AN74T, AN124
Ruslan, AN225 Mriya, AN70
freighters and the AN28,
AN38, AN74TK100 and

go/passenger transports took
wing. These airplanes are wi
dely used both by the military
and by civil operators in 75 co
untries around the world.
At present, all the experien
ce in design, construction, and
operation of transport aircraft
in combination with the most
innovative aviation technologi
es are embodied in a new freig
hter AN178 developed by AN
TONOV. This advanced aircraft
will replace the AN12. It will
carry cargo weighing up to 18 t
and operate at the same airfi
elds as the AN12 including un
paved ones. It has a more spa
cious, fully pressurized cargo
compartment, where maritime
containers and IATA containers
can be placed. In case of ne
cessity, the AN178 can carry
99 soldiers, 80 paratroops or
evacuate 70 sick and wounded
persons. Other technical, ope
rational and economic charac
teristics will be improved com
pared with the AN12 as well.
The AN178 will be equipped
with digital avionics, "glass"
cockpit, and two jet engines. In

comparison with the AN12, its
maximum cruising speed will
be increased by 225 km/h, ser
vice ceiling by 3,000 m, and
flight range with cargo of 10 t
will be increased by 800 km.
Extensive market studies
estimate that military and civil
customers will generate worl
dwide demand for more than
400 AN178 aircraft
Construction of the first
AN178 prototype and the start
of flight tests are planned for
2014. High commonality of the
AN178 with the already certifi
ed AN158 will assist in redu
cing the time and cost of the
aircraft trials and the launch of
its serial production. AN-178 new freighter
system(GPWS), satellite navi
gation system, aircraft range
finders, radio altimeters, new
radar with two multifunctional
indicators, new oxygen sys
tems and improved seats for
the crew are installed. The air
craft payload is increased up
to 7.5 t.
To date 25 of the 105 Indi
an AN32s have been reequip
ped.
By order of the MoD of Iraq,
six AN32B airplanes were
constructed at ANTONOV Seri
al Plant. Five of them have be
en accepted by the customer,
the sixth is undergoing factory
tests prior to delivery.

Ukrainian enterprises are
continuing works on deep mo
dernization of the AN32 fleet
of Indian AF. They are carried
out at SE 410th Civil Aviation
Plant with the participation of
ANTONOV Company and more
than 20 other enterprises of
Ukraine, Russia, Switzerland
and USA.
The upgraded version of
the aircraft was designated as
the AN32RE (reequipped).
The aircraft are fitted with the
most modern equipment, pro
viding a higher level of flight
safety. In particular: air collisi
on avoidance system (TCAS),
ground proximity early warning

cooperation
with India on the AN32 prog
ramme, ANTONOV Company
proposes to realize the princip
le of integrated operational
support of the aircraft. It implies
all the services, including: sci
entific and research investigati
ons, scheduled maintenance
and repair, engineering servi
ces, training of personnel, mo
dification of the aircraft, provi
ding with technical documenta
tion, warranty maintenance,
spare parts and vendor items
deliveries to be rendered thro
ugh the "single window" AN
TONOV Company. This system
will provide the most efficient
interaction between the aircraft
operator and enterprises parti
cipating in the programme. THE АN148300МP MARITIME PATROL
On the basis of the AN148
300 longrange aircraft, ANTO
NOV is developing an advan
ced AN148300MP, which is
intended for maritime patrol
and resistance to trespassers,
electromagnetic radiation and
communication facilities intelli

gence, pollution response role,
SAR missions.
To perform these tasks, the
AN148300MP is fitted with
special equipment, providing
radar and optoelectronic se
arch of targets on water, as well
as blisters on each side of the
fuselage for visual search of tar
gets. The aircraft can be armed
with guided and unguided wea
pons including gun container,
guided airtoship missiles and
blocks of unguided missiles.
While on SAR missions, it
can paradrop and airdrop spe
cial recovery aids in the disas
ter zone from pylons under the
wing and through the rear side
door of the cargo cabin.
To monitor pollution zones,
the
AN148300MP
is
equipped with SLAR, MWR,
IR/UV, LFS.

Owing to its spacious fuse
lage, in case of necessity, the
aircraft can be used for trans
portation of personnel and car
goes.
Maximum flight duration of
the AN148300MP is 10
hours, maximum cruising
speed is 850 km/h. In contrast
to other existing patrol aircraft,
it can be operated at poorly
equipped airfields including
unpaved ones. Besides, it can
work within a wide range of cli
mate conditions from the cold
of the Arctic to the heat of the
tropics.
ANTONOV intends to pre
sent the AN148300MP to
the tender announced by MoD
of India to purchase medium
hail maritime patrol aircraft, mul
tipurpose marine airplanes, sur
vey and target towing aircraft.

Aerospace company consider
the AN38 to have particular
advantages over its western
competitors. In spite of the
difficult flying conditions with
air temperature up to +40оС
and frequent tropical thunder
storms and showers, there
was not any incident with the
aircraft and any flight delay
because of technical reasons.
AN38 proved itself to be also
successfully operated while
performing flights under low
temperatures
conditions
(down to 50оC) in the North
of Russia.
The positive experience of
AN38 operation attracted at
tention of airlines from India,
Indonesia, Thailand, Republic
of Philippines and Vietnam.
The AN38s were cons
tructed ay Novosibirsk Aviation
Production Association named
after V.Chkalov. But production
was stopped because of rep
lacement of the plant owner.
Taking into consideration
the market demand for the
aircraft of such class, ANTO
NOV Company intends to
continue the AN38 program
me. In particular, ANTONOV
suggests to Indian enterpri
ses of aircraft industry to take
part in project on design and
construction of the AN38
version, which meets the Indi
an market requirements in the
best way. AN-38 is the best aircraft for local Indian air routes
