The Montgomery Building was built in 1924 by the Montgomery
Family who was one of the leading textile families in the
Southeast. It was originally built as office space that housed
engineering, cotton brokers, and various other tenants that were
associated with the textile and cotton industry. Because of the

only remaining example of its kind in the entire state of South
