Youth Look
Forward to
Spring Break
Delia Hauser
Spring break is just around the
corner and the youth are ready for
some time off from school and
time on to serve others. The youth
are interested in helping the older
members of our church with yard
work or other physical labor that
needs to get done around their
homes. This is NOT a fundraiser,
this is a service project. Please
help us help you as we work on
spending our 3rd Spring Break
being servants of God by being of
service to you. Call Delia Hauser
at 452-6856 if there is a service
project our youth can do for
you!
At the February Fellowship meal,
we sold 81 adult meal tickets and 18
children meal tickets. Thank you
church family for supporting us in our
Valentine's fundraiser and for giving
your time to come and speak to our
youth during Sunday School. Last
month Janet Ronshausen invited some
senior adults to speak about marriage
to our youth and they loved it!
This month our teachers have rotated out; the middle school girls are
lead by Susan Craig, middle school
boys by Patrick Hauser, and high
school by Delia Hauser. Our opening
session on Sunday mornings begins in
the gym. It is a time for the youth to
connect and do some team building.
It was originally lead by the adults,
but now it is youth-lead. Our first

L to R: Billie Anderson, Jimmie Lou Ferman and Joan Barrera were among
the many who enjoyed the Presidents’ Day-themed Young-In-Heart Luncheon on February 21. (Next Y-I-H Luncheon is March 20.)
BTC has been part of a city-wide effort to improve the health of our neighbors.
We presented awards to five people for sustained efforts to improve their fitness.
Special thanks to Nancy Parker of the Methodist Health Foundation, the Baptist
Health Foundation and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. L to R: Pastor Jorge &
Tracy Zayasbazan, Estelle Lindsey, Linda Grinnell, Nancy Parker. Louise
Stuteville (page 3) also received the award.

Centennial Moment:
What BT Means to Me
By Weldon Frazelle
My wife Virginia and I have
been members of Baptist Temple for
fifty-six years (actually since February 26, 1956). During that time I
have taught teenage boys, the singles department and several other
groups.
During that time I have seen
boys become doctors, dentists, lawyers and lifetime residents of prison.
Some have chosen to waste their
lives on alcohol, drugs and stealing.
We have had three children,
(Marcia, Rhonda and Andy) come
to know the Lord as their Master. I
thank God that our family is complete in God’s kingdom.
When my wife and I came to
Baptist Temple we had Sunday
School in what has become the Fritz
Building. At that time we were running 900 in Sunday School. Now
we have about 225 members.
I thank God for our pastor
and faithful members.
Children’s Corner
Heather Fisher
February 18 we all had fun at the
Witte Museum and HEB Science Tree
house. All 34 enjoyed climbing and
playing with the hands-on activities
and viewing beautiful exhibits.
March 11th is our first fundraiser
for Children’s (Pre-Teen) Camp.
Please help our future church leaders
go to camp by enjoying a delicious
plate of Spaghetti with Meat Sauce,
Green Beans, Salad, Garlic Bread and
Ice Tea. Dessert can be purchased
from the Missions Action Team following the meal when they host the
Dessert Auction. Come and help both
groups raise funds for our summer
projects.
Get ready for more fun with the
family when the Children’s Ministry
sponsors the next activity: a visit to
Fiesta Farm on March 18th. We will
eat Lunch at the church then go visit
and play at the farm. We plan to return to the church by 3:30 PM.
Lastly, April 1st is the Annual
Easter egg hunt. We are asking the
church family to help us by donating
plastic eggs and/or wrapped candies
or small toys to fill the eggs. This is
not just for our BTC children—we
hold the egg hunt on Palm Sunday at
Highland Park (at the corner of
Rigsby and Gevers) and invite community members at the park to join in
the fun. Any donation for this would
be appreciated.

brave youth who volunteered to take
on this challenge was Jessica Morgan,
who is a 7th grader. We worked together on finding activities on the
internet and figuring out what she
needed for the sessions. She did a
great job and is on her way to building
her leadership skills. Saul Ibarra is
leading the March opening sessions.
Please pray for our youth as they take
on roles that are outside their comfort
zone. It is exciting to see them take
on things that are beyond their abilities because that is where they will see
the power of God.
March Outing: 3/9/12 Midnight

Oaks from 11pm-2am. Youth will
leave from the Fritz parking lot at

Day Care Update
We all have different talents and dreams, but we have the power to shape our
future. The Bible stories that are taught daily provide our children with a spiritual
foundation. This is a wonderful way to get a glimpse of God's world through their
eyes. Life is full of challenges even though we have a hard time seeing them because of every day problems. Through God's love we see things in a better way.

Highland Park Gifted & Talented
Academy held Math Olympics in the
BTC parking lot on Saturday, March 3
and will hold another one from
8:30AM to 12:30PM on March 24.
This workshop is a fun way for 3rd
thru 6th grade students to learn math.
This Friday, March 9 students will
be participating in the American Heart
Association’s “Jump Rope for
Heart.” Students are learning how to
take care of their heart and jumping
rope to help kids with special hearts
by fundraising for donations. All
money is due by Friday, March 9.
Fundraising is not required, just jumping rope. The class who raises the
most money will receive an ice cream
sandwich party.
Spring Break is next week—
March 12 through 16. Have a fun,
relaxing and safe week off!
New Pictorial
Directory?
LeRoy Reed (L) and Robert Persky (R) discover there is FUN in demolition, as
they help with the remodeling of the Fritz Building.
Two church members have volunteered to help with this project. If you
would like to be on this team please
call the church office ASAP.
Many families and individuals have
joined Baptist Temple since the distribution of our last directory. There is
interest in having an updated one,
however, it requires a team of folks
who are willing to make phone calls,
and also make decisions regarding
design and layout.
This Sunday ~ March 11: Spaghetti Luncheon
