HAZAK Kamp @ Kutsher's, is situated in
the Catskill Mountains of New York, on 1200
wooded acres. All of our rooms surround a
picturesque lake that offers the perfect setting
to come together as a community and learn,
while taking advantage of our many
recreational opportunities. This is your KAMP
HAZAK as you have known it, only better!!
So… hike through our woods, play a round of
golf, swim in our indoor and outdoor pools,
use our tennis courts, volleyball courts, go
boating on our private lake, use our bocci
courts, enjoy miniature golf (if the PGA

Dr. Chaim Lauer
Dr. Chaim Lauer is an
internationally known Jewish
educator, communal professional
and author. He has been a leader in
Federation and Boards of Jewish
Education. He will offer
presentations in his unique style of sharing the
wisdom of our leaders over the centuries. "A
Psalm, a Mom and a Basket Case" focusing on
King David, the inspirational Henrietta Szold
and Moses.
Masters of Broadway
Dr. Randal Woodfield
Dr. Randal Woodfield is voice
extraordinaire and our resident
professor of music, theater and
stage. Randy returns to HAZAK
for a new series of presentations
focused on Berlin, Gershwin and
Porter. Randy resides in Baltimore and is
currently on the Voice Faculty of York College
in Pennsylvania.
Jewish Medical Ethics
Dr. Rabbi Michael Kaplowitz
Rabbi Kaplowitz is a practicing
psychiatrist and is the gabbi at
Tefilat Shalom Bayit.
Maimonides: The Man, The
Scholar, The Doctor-(Rabbi
Moshe Ben Maimon). We will study the Guide
to the Perplexed, the Mishna Torah and
Responsa on issues of Jewish medical opinions.
Compare the text of the Hippocratic Oath to
Maimonides Oath for Doctors. Jewish Medical
Ethics: Judaism speaks loudly to “end of life”
challenges ad issues. A fascinating engagement

Dr. Eric Goldman
Dr. Eric Goldman is the founder
and president of ERGO Media. He
is an expert on Yiddish, Israeli and
Jewish films. He teaches at
Yeshiva University and at the
Jewish Theological Seminary. He
will offer presentations based on his new book:
The American Jewish Story Through Cinema.
Social Justice and Interracial Relations
Rabbi Robert Kaplan
Rabbi Robert Kaplan is the founding director of
CAUSE-NY part of the Jewish Community
Relations Council of NY. Bob will
serve as our Scholar in Residence
over Shabbat offering several
presentations on Social Justice,
Interracial Relations, Combating
Hate Crimes.
Book Club Discussions
Gloria Goldreich
Gloria Goldreich will be offering a
new dimension to our program
with several Book Club selections
for discussion throughout the
week. She writes on a range of Jewish and
women’s themes. In1979 she won the National
Book Award for fiction for Leah’s Journey. In
1985 she published Leah’s Children, followed
in 1987 by West to Eden, which deals with the
Jewish experience in the American Southwest.
Crucial Moments in Israel’s History
Sheldon Horowitz
Sheldon Horowitz served as a
Special Deputy Attorney General
for the State of New York for thirty
years. A frequent visitor to Israel,
he will speak about the influence
of Zev Jabotinsky and the effects
of the 1956 Sinai campaign.
Rabbi Moshe Edelman
Moshe Edelman returns as our
rabbi in residence. He led the
North Shore Jewish Center on
Long Island for 17 years. He
guided Conservative Judaism in
the area of Leadership
Development for 19 years. He is a popular adult
education speaker and lectures on Shabbatot.
Reb Moshe will guide the schedule, create an
inspirational Shabbat, teach from the Ethics of
the Sages and oversee a wonderful HAZAK
Kamp @Kutshers.
Jo-Anne Tucker - Zemlak
Jo-Anne and her trusty camera
(thanks Bob) will join with Moshe
in the Jo & Mo show to lead us in
a spirited re-envisioning of what
our new KAMP at KUTSHER'S
will be. Jo-Anne serves as the
International HAZAK Coordinator for USCJ.
TERMS OF ENROLLMENT
1. Fees include food, lodging, linens, blankets,
and towels. Medical services beyond routine
supports provided by resident medical staff must
be covered by participant’s own insurance.
2. Fees include basic gratuities.
3. Round trip transportation from select bus stops
is included. There must be a minimum of 8
participants for a particular bus stop to be used.
No refunds will be made to participants who use
their own transportation. Rates do not include
airfare. If required, airfare will be billed
separately.
4. Balance of payment is due on May 1, 2013.
Payments made more than 14 days beyond the due
date will incur a $25 late fee.
5. There is a non-refundable processing fee of at
least $75 per person. All cancellations, including
medical, received 21 days or less before vacation
are subject to a $100 charge per person. All
cancellations, including medical, made in the last
week before vacation are subject to a $150 fee per
person. Cancellations must be in writing. There
are no reductions for late arrivals, early departures,
or “no shows” - regardless of reason.
6. I hereby consent and agree to participate in all
Vacations at Kutsher’s & USCJ activities
including, but not limited to, exhibits,
performances, television, video, radio and
transcribed programs, in each case without
compensation, and Vacations at Kutsher’s & USCJ
which the camp is affiliated, may photograph,
videotape, or record me and may use at any time
my photograph, videotape, recoding and/or name
in furtherance of Vacations at Kutsher’s & USCJ’s
charitable purposes, without compensation.
