Remove the chrome retaining ring below the shift knob by twisting
Remove the chrome retaining ring below the shift knob by twisting ¼ to ½ turn counter-clockwise.
Remove the lower dust boot from the OEM Shifter
Remove the 2 spring clips that hold the shifter lever retaining pin
Pull the shift lever straight down through the shifter body
Unplug the reverse lock-out solenoid pigtail on the driver’s side of the transmission
On the passenger side, unplug and remove this sensor from the transmission body
Remove the clip pins that hold the shifter front support arms in place by inserting the supplied allen
wrench into the access hole and pressing slightly forward.
Remove the upper boot retainer frame by sliding to the side and down.
From inside the vehicle, insert the MGW Shifter and let it rest on the transmission.
Reattach the center linkage rod using the center pin and the 2 u-shaped spring clips.
Cover the bottom part of the shifter with the lower shifter boot making sure it is perfectly attached
around the bottom of the shifter.
Cut 3 band-aid sized strips from the Dynamat sheet and place two of them over the two front support
arms as shown. Use the third strip to wrap the center linkage rod under the vehicle.
Install the support arms on the transmission using the swing arm retainers.
Align the top hole of the support arm with the dowel pin on the shifter body and bolt the support arms
to the shifter body using the lower holes and the 5/16 -18 hex bolts. The longer bolt goes on the
passenger side. Use the supplied red Loctite.
Reattach the reverse lock-out solenoid pig-tail on the driver’s side and reinstall the sensor on the
passenger side.
Place the two remaining pieces of Dynamat on the underside of the transmission tunnel.
Install the front dust boot retainer clip in the front holes of the transmission tunnel as shown. Leave it
loose to be able to install the dust boot.
Install the rear support bracket by pushing it onto the two pins on the shifter and then inerting the two
studs up through the rear holes of the transmission tunnel. The stainless steel plate faces the rear of the
vehicle.
Start the hex nuts on the top with the washers in place.
Apply some Armor-All or other to the lip of the upper dust boot to lubricate it and then slide it in
between the retaining clip/rear support and the transmission tunnel, making sure it is fully seated.
Stick the two foam sounds sheets together by exposing the adhesive on the lower piece and pressing it
onto the bottom of the upper sheet with the lettering facing up. Then press that onto the top of the
shifter assembly in the console.
Remove the chrome shift ball ring by prying the tabs inward.
Remove the lower piece by prying it off of the inside of the boot (glued).
Install the MGW grommet into the boot and zip-tie it.
Reinstall the center gauge cluster by guiding the two front pins into place and then snapping down the
remaining clips front to back.
