Mr. John Spolski, Bruner’s principal for the last eight years, has
passed his sword to the new
principal of Bruner Middle
School, Ms. Cynthia Hudson.
Mr. Spolski is now the new
principal of Fort Walton
Beach High School.
Ms.
Hudson comes to Bruner
from Crestview High School
as one of the assistant principals. Welcome, Ms. Hudson,
to the land of the Spartans.

With the new Florida standards in place to
help Florida students succeed, the Florida
Standards Assessments (FSA) in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and end-ofcourse (EOC) subjects (Algebra 1, Algebra 2,
and Geometry) will serve Florida students by
measuring education gains and progress. Students, parents/guardians, and educators are
encouraged to stay connected to the FSA Portal to receive important announcements and
access information and resources as they are
available. The web site address is: http://

Parents can promote student success by staying involved in their child’s education, offering positive support and feedback and encouraging them to relax and do their very best. By
staying connected with their student’s school
and teachers and taking advantage of online
resources, such as school websites and portals,
parents can stay informed and be best
equipped to meet the needs of their students at

Alayna Spolski, an 8th grader,
placed first in Biochemistry
with her project named “Fat
Daddy Humongous Mud
Bug!”, and also received the
Best in Show award at the
Science Fair. Alayna is qualified to attend the regional science fair.

SWIM TEAM
For this season, Swimming
has been moved from a Winter sport to a Spring sport.
Try-outs will be the end of
February/beginning
of
March. Students interested
in trying out should
have their Physical/
Parent
Permission
Form turned in to
Mrs.
Vinson

folder)/Coach
Ver
Steeg (Guidance) by
Friday 6, 2015, have a
2.0 GPA, and attend a mandatory meeting on Wednes-
day, February 18 after school
until 3:30 p.m. Students
must attend mandatory
meetings to get try-out info!.
SWIM CLINIC INFO
There will be a swim clinic on
February 23 and 24, 2015.
This would be a great
time for swimmers to
get in the pool and
review the skills
needed for try-outs.
To participate in the
swim clinic, students
will need to purchase
a ticket and have their physical/parent permission forms
turned in. The tickets can be
purchased from Coach Ver
Steeg in the Guidance office
from Feb 9 to Feb 20 and the
cost is $20.00 (includes pool
fee, bus fee, light breakfast).

MEDIA CENTER NEWS
Parents and students, there are several overdue
library books from September through January
5th. Please check at home to see if your child
has an over due book. All borrowing privileges
are lost until the books have been returned or
paid for.

Builders Club
BETA
The builders club recently
had a can food drive, and
with the help of the students
and faculty, they were able to
donate 500 pounds of
canned goods to Sharing &
Caring of Fort Walton Beach.
Beta students recently traveled to Orlando for the
Beta Club Convention. They received many accolades. The awards presented was numerous.

GUIDANCE NEWS VISION BOARDS
8th grade students were introduced to vision boards about
their future careers. Students were asked to create a vision
board. The 8th grade web design students were challenged
with creating a informational web page about vision boards.
Three of the web pages were selected to be featured in the
upcoming news letter.
