Introduction
Hello and welcome to the second edition of this book! I spent far too much time on
it, but I don’t care, because it really was a labor of love. I know that some people get into
ukulele because they want to play Bohemian Rhapsody like they saw Jake Shimabukuro do on
YouTube, and I know some people want to practice every day so they can someday fingerpick the Goldberg Variations. More power to them – I will watch your videos; send them to
me. I’m never going to put in the work to play that well; I play ukulele because I love it so,
because it is fun. And the songs in this book are the ones I’ve found most fun to play.
So, if you found this book valuable, how do you pay for it? Paying me is out of the
question; I don’t own the copyright to any of the lyrics, and most of the chords were figured
out by other people, although I did a lot of tweaking. I hope you have a great time playing
the songs, and sharing the pdf with other people. So, again, if you found this book valuable
how do you pay? I give you two options:
1) Buy a songbook using real money. Go to amazon.com or your local music store,
and buy something. “The Daily Ukulele” is quite popular, but you should pick whatever is
most appealing to you. Find one, pay for it, and consider you and me square as well.
2) Buy a “lending ukulele” and lend it out, and be cool if you don’t get it back. You
can get a Makala Dolphin for about $45. My book, if it were a sold item, would cost roughly
that much, maybe a little less. So go ahead and buy a uke, and lend it to any friend who
seems remotely interested. If they return it, great, you can lend it to someone else. If they
don’t, because they love it so, make it a gift! You’ll have turned someone on to this great
instrument, and you and I will be so happy.
If you find any errors, or have any suggestions for improvement, please let me know!
I’m ProfessorPolopeka on http://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/forum.php. And, again, please
share this book! I want to make these songs available to everyone!

[A] Darkened rolling [C] figures move through [D] prisms of no [A] color
[A] Hand in hand, they [C] walk the night, but [D] never know each [A] other
[E] Passion cast in neon lights light [D] up the jewelled [A] trav'ler
[A] Who, lost in scenes of [C] smoke-filled dreams find [D] questions, but no [A] answers
[A] Startled eyes that [C] sometimes see phan[D]tasmagoric [A] splendor

[A] Terror signs look [C] down upon a [D] world that glitters [A] glibly
[A] And mountainsides put [C] arms around the [D] unsuspecting [A] city
[E] Second hands that minds have slowed are [D] moving even [A] faster

The Hannukah Song
Adam Sandler
[G][D][C]
[G] Put on your [D] yamakah, [C] here comes [D] Hanukkah.
It’s [G] so much [D] funakkah to [C] celebrate [D] Hanukkah.
[G] Hanukkah [D] is the [C] Festival of [D] Lights.
[G] Instead of one day of [D] presents, we have [C] eight crazy [D] nights.
[G] When you feel like the only [D] kid in town with[C]out a Xmas [D] tree,
[G] Here’s a list of people who are [D] Jewish, [C] just like you and [D] me:
[G] David Lee [D] Roth [C] lights the me[D]norah,
[G] So do James [D] Caan, Kirk Douglas, and the [C] late Dinah [D] Shore-ah
[G] Guess who eats to[D]gether at the [C] Carnegie [D] Deli,
[G] Bowzer from [D] Sha-na-na, and [C] Arthur Fonzar[D]relli.
[G] Paul Newman’s half [D] Jewish; [C] Goldie Hawn’s half [D] too,
[G] Put them to[D]gether -- what a [C] fine looking [D] Jew!
[C] You don’t need ‘Deck the Halls’ or ‘Jingle Bell Rock’
[D] Cause you can spin the dreidle with Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock -- both Jewish!
[G] Put on your [D] yamakah, it’s [C] time for [D] Hanukkah,
The [G] owner of the Seattle Super[D]sonic-ahs [C] celebrates [D] Hanukkah.
[G] O.J. [D] Simpson -- [C] not a [D] Jew!
But [G] guess who [D] is - Hall of [C] Famer Rod [D] Carew (he converted)
[G] We got Ann [D] Landers and her [C] sister Dear Ab[D]by,
[G] Harrison Ford’s a [D] quarter Jewish -- [C] not too [D] shabby!
[G] Some people [D] think that [C] Ebeneezer [D] Scrooge is,
Well, he’s [G] not, but [D] guess who is: [C] All three [D] stooges.
[C] So many Jews are in show biz-[D] Tom Cruise isn’t, [tacit] but I heard his agent is.
[G] Tell your friend Ver[D]onica, it’s [C] time to celebrate [D] Hanukkah
I [G] hope I get a har[D]monica, on this [C] lovely, lovely [D] Hanukkah.
So [G] drink your gin-and-[D]tonic-ah, and [C] smoke your mari[D]juanicah,
If you [G] really, really [D] wannakah,
Have a [C] happy, happy, [D] happy, HAPPY [G] HANUKKAH!
Happy Xmas (War is Over)

[C6][Dm][G7][Am]
[C6]Well the shark has pretty [Dm]teeth dear, and he [G7]keeps them pearly [C6]white
Just a [Am]jackknife has old Mac[Dm]Heath dear, and he [G7]keeps it out of [C6]sight
[C6]When the shark bites with his [Dm]teeth dear, scarlet [G7]billows start to [C6]spread
Fancy [Am]gloves though wears old Mac[Dm]Heath dear, so there's [G7]never a trace of [C6]red
[C6]Sunday morning on the [Dm]sidewalk, lies a [G7]body oozing [C6]life
And someone's [Am]creeping around the [Dm]corner, could that [G7]someone be Mack the [C6]Knife?
[C6]From a tug boat on the [Dm]river a ce[G7]ment bag's dropping [C6]down
The ce[Am]ment's just for the [Dm]weight dear, I bet you [G7]Macky's back in [C6]town
[C6]Louis Miller disap[Dm]peared dear, after [G7]drawing all his [C6]cash
And old Mac[Am]Heath spends like a [Dm]sailor, did our [G7]boy do something [C6]rash?
[C6]Jenny Diver, Sukey [Dm]Tawdry, Miss Lotte [G7]Lanya and old Lucy [C6]Brown
Well, the [Am]line forms on the [Dm]right babe, now that [G7]Macky's back in [C6]town!

Mary Jane's Last Dance
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
[Am] [G] [D] [A] [Em7]
[Am] [G] [D] [Am]
[Am] She grew up in an [G] Indiana town
Had a [D]good lookin' mama who [Am] never was around
But she grew up tall and she [G] grew up right
With them [D] Indiana boys on an [Am] Indiana night
[Am] [G] [D] [Am]
Well she moved down here at the [G] age of 18
She [D] blew the boys away, it was [Am] more than they'd seen
I was introduced and we [G] both started groovin'
She [D] said, "I dig you baby but I [Am] got to keep movin'"
(keep on movin) [Am] [G] [D] [Am]
[Em7] Last dance with Mary Jane
One more time to kill the pain [A]
[Em7] I feel summer creepin' in and
I'm tired of this town again [A]..... [G]
Well [Am] I don't know but [G] I've been told
You [D] never slow down, you [Am] never grow old
I'm tired of screwing up, I'm [G] tired of bein' down
I'm [D] tired of myself, I'm [Am] tired of this town
Oh my my, [G] oh hell yes,
[D] Honey put on that [Am] party dress
Buy me a drink, [G] sing me a song,
[D] Take me as I come 'cause I [Am]can't stay long
Repeat chorus
[Am] [G] [D] [Am]
[Am] [G] [D] [Am]
There's [Am] pigeons down in [G] Market Square
She's [D] standin' in her [Am] underwear
Lookin' down from a [G] hotel room
[D] Nightfall will be [Am] comin' soon
Oh my my, [G] oh hell yes
You've [D] got to put on that [Am] party dress
It was too cold to cry when I [G] woke up alone
I [D] hit the last number, I [Am] walked to the road
Repeat chorus x 2
Then fade with the intro chord sequence.

The Monkey and the Engineer
Grateful Dead
[G][C][A7][D7]
[G] Once upon a time there was an [C] engin[G]eer
[G] Drove a locomotive both [A7] far and [D7] near
[G] Accompanied by a monkey who would [C] sit on a stool
[G] Watching every[A7]thing the engin[D7]eer would [G] move
[G] One day the engineer wanted a [C] bite to [G] eat
[G] Left the monkey sitting on the [A7] driver's [D7] seat
[G] The monkey pulled the throttle, [C] locomotive jumped the gun
And [G] did ninety miles an [A7] hour down the [D7] main line [G] run
[G] Big locomotive, [C] right on [G] time
[G] Big locomotive, comin' [A7] down the [D7] line
[G] Big locomotive, number [C] ninety-[G] nine
[G] Left the [A7] engineer with a [D7] worried [G] mind
[G] The engineer called up the dis[C]patcher on the [G] phone
[G] Tell him all about his loco[A7]motive was [D7] gone
[G] Get on the wire, switch oper[C]ator to right
[G] 'Cause the monkey's got the [A7] main line [D7] sewn up [G] tight
[G] Switch operator got the [C] message in [G] time
[G] Said, "There's a north bound livin' on the [A7] same main [D7] line
[G] Open up the switch, I'm gonna let him [C] through the hole
'Cause the [G] monkey's got the [A7] locomotive [D7] under con[G]trol!"
[G] Big locomotive, [C] right on [G] time
[G] Big locomotive, comin' [A7] down the [D7] line
[G] Big locomotive, number [C] ninety-[G] nine
[G] Left the [A7] engineer with a [D7] worried [G] mind
Solo then repeat refrain.
The Monster Mash
Bobby “Boris” Pickett
[G] [Em] [C] [D]
I was [G] working in the lab late one night
When my [Em] eyes beheld an eerie sight
For my [C] monster from his slab began to rise
And [D] suddenly to my surprise
He did the [G] mash! He did the monster mash
The monster [Em] mash! It was a graveyard smash
He did the [C] mash! It caught on in a flash
He did the [D] mash! He did the monster mash
From my [G] laboratory in the castle east
To the [Em] master bedroom where the vampires feast
The [C] ghouls all came from their humble abodes
To [D] get a jolt from my electrodes
They did the [G] mash! They did the monster mash
The monster [Em] mash! It was a graveyard smash
They did the [C] mash! It caught on in a flash
They did the [D] mash! They did the monster mash
The [C] zombies were having fun
The [D] party had just begun
The [C] guests included Wolf Man
[D] Dracula and his son
The [G] scene was rockin', all were digging the sounds
Igor [Em] on chains, backed by his baying hounds
The [C] coffin-bangers were about to arrive
With [D] their vocal group, "The Crypt-Kicker Five"
They played the [G] mash! They played the monster mash
The monster [Em] mash! It was a graveyard smash
They played the [C] mash! It caught on in a flash
They played the [D] mash! They played the monster mash
[G] Out from his coffin, Drac's voice did ring
[Em] Seems he was troubled by just one thing
He [C] opened the lid and shook his fist
And said, [D] "Whatever happened to my Transylvania twist?"
It's now the [G] mash! It's now the monster mash
The monster [Em] mash! And it's a graveyard smash
It's now the [C] mash! It's caught on in a flash
It's now the [D] mash! It's now the monster mash
Now [G] everything's cool, Drac's a part of the band
And my [Em] monster mash is the hit of the land
For you, [C] the living, this mash was meant too
When you [D] get to my door, tell them Boris sent you
Then you can [G] mash! Then you can monster mash
The monster [Em] mash! And do my graveyard smash
Then you can [C] mash! You'll catch on in a flash
Then you can [D] mash! Then you can monster mash
Wah[G]ooooooooooo the monster mash
Wah[Em]ooooooooooo the monster mash
Wah[C]ooooooooooo the monster mash
Wah[D]ooooooooooo the monster mash

Never to [Dm] bow to the Gummy King's [F] throne, never [C] again, never [G] again!
Never [Dm] again to be [F] put down by the Marzipan [C] Girl at the silver lake [G] lounge
Soaring [Dm] over it all, high up in the [F] clouds, never [C] again, never [G] again!

Soaring [Dm] over it all, high up in the [F] clouds, never [C] again, never [G] again!
[Final [C] – [G] – [Am] – [Em] – [F] – [C] – [G] Spoken:]
No matter how insane or ridiculous they seem, you must follow your dreams!
I'veNeverBeenToMe
[G] [F] [C] [Am] [D] [Em] [Dm]
[G] Hey lady, [F] you lady, [C] cursing [G] at your [Am] life
You're a [F] discontented [G] mother and a [Am] regimented wife
[F] I've no doubt you [G] dream about the [C] things you'll [G] never [Am] do
But, I [D] wish someone had talked to me
Like I [F] wanna talk to [G] you.....
Oh, I've [C] been to Georgia and [G] California and [Am] anywhere I could [Em] run
I [F] took the hand of a [C] preacher man and we [Dm] made love in the [G] sun
But I ran [C] out of places and [G] friendly faces because [Am] I had to be [Em] free
[F] I've been to [C] paradise but I've [Dm] never been to [C] me
[G] Please lady, [F] please lady, [C] don't just [G] walk [Am] away
'Cause I [F] have this [G] need to tell you why I'm [Am] all alone today
[F] I can see so [G] much of me still [C] living in [G] your [Am] eyes
Won't you [D] share a part of a weary heart that has [F] lived million [G] lies....
Oh, I've [C] been to Nice and the [G] Isle of Greece while I've [Am] sipped champagne on a
[Em] yacht
I've [F] moved like Harlow in [C] Monte Carlo and [Dm] showed 'em what I've [G] got
I've been un[C]dressed by kings and I've [G] seen some things that a [Am] woman ain't
supposed to [Em] see
[F] I've been to [C] paradise, but I've [Dm] never been to [C] me
[spoken] Hey, you know what paradise is?
It's a lie, a fantasy we create about people and places as we'd like them to be
But you know what truth is?
It's that little baby you're holding, it's that man you fought with this morning
The same one you're going to make love with tonight
That's truth, that's love......
Sometimes I've [C] been to crying for [G] unborn children that [Am] might have made me
[Em] complete
But I [F] took the sweet life, [C] I never knew I'd be [Dm] bitter from the [G] sweet
I've spent my [C] life exploring the [G] subtle whoring that [Am] costs too much to be
[Em] free
[F] I've been to [C] paradise, but I've [Dm] never been to [C] me
(I've been to Georgia and California, and anywhere I could run)
I've been to paradise, never been to me
(I've been to Nice and the isle of Greece while I've sipped champagne on a yacht)
I've been to paradise, never been to me
(I've been to cryin' for unborn children that might have made me complete)
I've been to paradise, never been to me
(I've been to Georgia and California, and anywhere I could run)
I've been to paradise, never been to me
Octopus’s Garden
[C][Am][F][G7]
[C] I'd like to be [Am] under the sea
In [F] an octopus' garden in the [G7] shade
[C] He'd let us in, [Am] knows where we've been
In [F] his octopus' garden in the [G7] shade.
[Am] I'd ask my friends to come and see
[F] An octopus' [G7] garden with me
[C] I'd like to be [Am] under the sea
In [F] an octopus' [G7] garden in the [C] shade.
[C] We would be warm [Am] below the storm
[F] In our little hideaway beneath the [G7] waves
[C] Resting our head [Am] on the sea bed
In [F] an octopus' garden near a [G7] cave
[Am] We would sing and dance around
[F] Because we know [G7] we can't be found
[C] I'd like to be [Am] under the sea
In [F] an octopus' [G7] garden in the [C] shade
[C] We would shout [Am] and swim about
[F] The coral that lies beneath the [G7] waves
[C] Oh what joy [Am] for every girl and boy
[F] Knowing they're happy and they're [G7] safe
[Am] We’d be so happy you and me
[F] No one there to tell us [G7] what to do
[C] I'd like to be [Am] under the sea
In [F] an octopus' [G7] garden with [C] you [Am].
In [F] an octopus' [G7] garden with [C] you [Am].
In [F] an octopus' [G7] garden with [C] you.

Ripple
[G][C][D][Am][A7]
Garcia/Hunter
If my words did [G] glow with the gold of [C] sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp un[G]strung,
Would you hear my voice come thru the [C] music?
Would you [G] hold it [D] near [C] as if it were your [G] own?
[G] It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are [C] broken;
Perhaps they're better left un[G]sung.
I don't know, don't really [C] care.
[G] Let there be [D] songs [C] to fill the [G] air.
[Am] Ripple in still [D] water, when there [G] is no pebble [C] tossed,
Nor [A7] wind to [D] blow.
Reach out your [G] hand if your cup be [C] empty,
If your cup is full may it be a[G]gain.
Let it be known there is a [C] fountain
[G] That was not [D] made [C] by the hands of [G] men.
[G] There is a road, no simple [C] highway,
Between the dawn and the dark of [G] night,
And if you go, no one may [C] follow,
[G] That path is [D] for [C] your steps a[G]lone.
[Am] Ripple in still [D] water, when there [G] is no pebble [C] tossed,
Nor [A7] wind to [D] blow.
You who [G] choose to lead must [C] follow,
But if you fall, you fall a[G]lone.
If you should stand, then who's to [C] guide you?
[G] If I knew the [D] way [C] I would take you [G] home.
[G] La da da da da, la da da [C] da da,
Da da da da, da da, da da da da [G] da.
La da da da, la da da [C] da da,
[G] La da da [D] da, [C] la da da da [G] da.

Stewball
Peter, Paul and Mary (traditional English/Irish)
[C] [Dm] [G] [F]
Oh Stewball was a [C] racehorse, and I wish he were [Dm] mine.
He never drank [G] water, he always drank [C] wine [F] [G].
His bridle was [C] silver, his mane it was [Dm] gold.
And the worth of his [G] saddle has never been [C] told [F] [G].
Oh the fairgrounds were [C] crowded, and Stewball was [Dm] there
But the betting was [G] heavy on the bay and the [C] mare [F] [G].
And a-way up [C] yonder, ahead of them [Dm] all,
Came a-prancing and a-[G]dancing my noble Stew[C]ball [F] [G].
I bet on the [C] grey mare, I bet on the [Dm] bay
If I’d have bet on old [G] Stewball, I’d be a free man to[C]day [F] [G].
Oh the hoot owl, she [C] hollers, and the turtle dove [Dm] moans.
I’m a poor boy in [G] trouble, I’m a long way from [C] home [F] [G].
Oh Stewball was a [C] racehorse, and I wish he were [Dm] mine.
He never drank [G] water, he always drank [C] wine[F] [G].
Sweet Georgia Brown
[D7][G7][C7][F][A7][Dm]
Words by A. Ken Casey, Music by Maceo Pinkard
[D7] No gal made has got a shade on Sweet Georgia Brown.
[G7] Two left feet, but oh, so neat has Sweet Georgia Brown.
[C7] They all sigh and wanna die for Sweet Georgia Brown,
I'll tell you just [F] why,
You know I don't [A7] lie (not much!).
[D7] It's been said she knocks 'em dead when she lands in town.
[G7] Since she came why it's a shame how she's cooled 'em down.
[Dm] Fellas she can't [A7] get
Must be [Dm] fellas she ain't [A7] met.
[F] Georgia claimed her,
[D7] Georgia named her,
[G7] Sweet [C7] Georgia [F] Brown.
[D7] All those tips the porter slips to Sweet Georgia Brown
[G7] They buy clothes at fashion shows for one dollar down.
[Dm] Fellas, tip your [A7] hats.
[Dm] Oh boy, ain't she the [A7] cats?
[F] Who's that mister,
[D7] t’ain't her sister,
It's [G7] Sweet [C7] Georgia [F] Brown.

Tangled Up in Blue
[A] [Asus4] [G] [D] [F#m]
[A] [Asus4] [A] [Asus4] [A] [Asus4] [A] [Asus4]
I keep my fingers in A position, and do the Asus4 by adding my ring
finger to the second fret of the C string
[A] Early one mornin’ [G] the sun was shinin’
[A] I was layin’ in [G] bed
[A] Wond’rin’ if she’d [G] changed at all
If her [D] hair was still red
[A] Her folks they said our [G] lives together
[A] Sure was gonna be [G] rough
[A] They never did like Mama’s [G] homemade
dress
[D] Papa’s bankbook wasn’t big enough
And [A] I was standin’ [F#m] on the side of the
road
[A] Rain fallin’ on my [D]shoes
[A] Heading out for the [F#m] East Coast
Lord [A] knows I’ve paid some [D] dues gettin’ [G]
through
[G] Tangled [D]up in [A] blue
She was married when we first met
Soon to be divorced
I helped her out of a jam, I guess
But I used a little too much force
We drove that car as far as we could
Abandoned it out West
Split up on a dark sad night
Both agreeing it was best
She turned around to look at me
As I was walkin’ away
I heard her say over my shoulder
“We’ll meet again someday on the avenue”
Tangled up in blue
I had a job in the great north woods
Working as a cook for a spell
But I never did like it all that much
And one day the ax just fell
So I drifted down to New Orleans
Where I happened to be employed
Workin’ for a while on a fishin’ boatRight outside of
Delacroix
But all the while I was alone
The past was close behind
I seen a lot of women
But she never escaped my mind, and I just grew
Tangled up in blue
She was workin’ in a topless place
And I stopped in for a beer
I just kept lookin’ at the side of her face
In the spotlight so clear
And later on as the crowd thinned out
I’s just about to do the same
She was standing there in back of my chair
Said to me, “Don’t I know your name?”
I muttered somethin’ underneath my breath
She studied the lines on my face
I must admit I felt a little uneasy
When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe
Tangled up in blue
She lit a burner on the stove
And offered me a pipe
“I thought you’d never say hello,” she said
“You look like the silent type”
Then she opened up a book of poems
And handed it to me
Written by an Italian poet
From the thirteenth century
And every one of them words rang true
And glowed like burnin’ coal
Pourin’ off of every page
Like it was written in my soul from me to you
Tangled up in blue
I lived with them on Montague Street
In a basement down the stairs
There was music in the cafés at night
And revolution in the air
Then he started into dealing with slaves
And something inside of him died
She had to sell everything she owned
And froze up inside
And when finally the bottom fell out
I became withdrawn
The only thing I knew how to do
Was to keep on keepin’ on like a bird that flew
Tangled up in blue
So now I’m goin’ back again
I got to get to her somehow
All the people we used to know
They’re an illusion to me now
Some are mathematicians
Some are carpenters’ wives
Don’t know how it all got started
I don’t know what they’re doin’ with their lives
But me, I’m still on the road
Headin’ for another joint
We always did feel the same
We just saw it from a different point of view
Tangled up in blue
Teach your Children
[D] [G] [A] [Bm]
Crosby, Stills and Nash
INTRO: [D] [G] [D] [A]
[D] You who are on the [G] road
Must have a [D] code that you can [A] live by
And [D] so become your[G]self
Because the [D] past is just a [A] good-bye.
[D] Teach your children [G] well,
Their father's [D] hell did slowly [A] go by,
And [D] feed them on your [G] dreams
The one they [D] picked, the one you'll [A] know by.
[D] Don't you ever ask them [G] why,
If they told you, you would [D] cry,
So just look at them and [Bm] sigh [G] [A]
And know they love [D] you. [G] [A] [D]
And [D] you, of tender [G] years,
Can't know the [D] fears that your elders [A] grew by,
And so [D] please help them with your [G] youth,
They seek the [D] truth before they [A] can die.
Counter Melody To Above Verse:
Can you hear and do you care and
Cant you see we must be free to
Teach your children what you believe in.
Make a world that we can live in.
[D] Teach your parents [G] well,
Their children's [D] hell will slowly [A] go by,
And [D] feed them on your [G] dreams
The one they [D] picked, the one you'll [A] know by.
[D] Don't you ever ask them [G] why,
If they told you, you would [D] cry,
So just look at them and [Bm] sigh [G] [A]
And know they love [D] you. [G] [A] [D]

Those Were The Days (in Am)
Mary Hopkin
[Am] [Dm] [B7] [E] [G] [G7] [C]
[Am] Once upon a time there was a tavern
[Am] Where we used to raise a glass or [Dm] two.
[Dm] Remember how we laughed away the [Am] hours
And [B7] dreamed of all the great things we would [E] do?
Those were the [Am] days, my friend
We thought they'd [Dm] never end.
We'd sing and [G] dance for [G7] ever and a [C] day.
We'd live the [Dm] life we choose
We'd fight and [Am] never lose
For we were [E] young, and sure to have our [Am] way.
La la la [Am] la la la la la la [Dm] la la la
Those were the [E] days, oh yes those were the [Am] days.
[Am] Then the busy years went rushing by us.
[Am] We lost our starry notions on the [Dm] way.
[Dm] If by chance I'd see you in the [Am] tavern
We'd [B7] smile at one another, and we'd [E] say:
Chorus
[Am] Just tonight I stood before the tavern.
[Am] Nothing seemed the way it used to [Dm] be.
[Dm] In the glass I saw a strange [Am] reflection
[B7] Was that lonely woman really [E] me? (Grandpa sang “lonely person”)
Chorus
[Am] Through the door there came familiar laughter.
[Am] I saw your face and heard you call my [Dm] name.
[Dm] Oh, my friend, we're older, but no [Am] wiser.
For [B7] in our hearts the dreams are still the [E] same.
Chorus
Tie Me Kangaroo Down
[D][G][A7]
There's an old Australian stockman, lying, dying
And he gets himself up onto one elbow, turns to his mates
Who are gathered 'round and he says
[D] Watch me wallabies [G] feed, mate, [A7] watch me wallabies [D] feed
[D] 'Ey! they're a dangerous [G] breed, mate, so [A7] watch me wallabies [D] feed
Chorus:
All together now –
[D] Tie me kangaroo [G] down, sport, [A7] tie me kangaroo [D] down
[D] Tie me kangaroo [G] down, sport, [A7] tie me kangaroo [D] down
[D] And keep me cockatoo [G] cool, Curl, [A7] keep me cockatoo [D] cool
[D] Ah, don't go actin' the [G] fool, Curl, [A7] just keep me cockatoo [D] cool
[Chorus]
[D] And take me koala [G] back, Jack, [A7] take me koala [D] back
[D] He lives somewhere out on the [G] track, Mac, [A7] so take me koala [D] back
[Chorus]
[D] And mind me platypus [G] duck, Bill, [A7] mind me platypus [D] duck
[D] Ah, don't let him go runnin' a[G]muck, Bill, [A7] just mind me platypus [D] duck
[Chorus]
[D] And play your didgeri[G]doo, Blue, [A7] play your didgeri[D]doo
[D] Uh, like, keep playin' till I shoot [G] through, Blue, [A7] play your didgeri[D]doo
[Chorus]
[D] And tan me hide when I'm [G] dead, Fred, [A7] tan me hide when I'm [D] dead
[D] So we tanned his hide when he [G] died, Clyde and [A7] that's it hanging on the [D] shed
[Chorus]

The Icicle Works
Intro: [C] [F] [C] [G]
I've been so [C] lonely, she can't understand
the [F] way I feel I'm holding on,
I'm [C] walking home alone, I'm here with[G]out her
It seems that [C] all the boys appreciate her
[F] All the girls speak highly of her
[C] energy, Do you think that it could [G] work for Jane and me?
Chorus:
'Cause I still [C] want her,
I still re[F]member summer
[C] Way back when, we both felt the [G] same
And I still [C] love her,
I can't stop [F] thinking of her
I'm [C] having trouble [G] understanding [C] Jane
[C] One by one my marbles left me,
[F] Jane would smile but never hold me
[C] One night at the pool hall, asked her [G] if she'd hold my cue
Can't im[C]press her with no fancy car,
Re[F]signed to lean here at the bar
I'll [C] lose my mind, shiver in re[G]sponsibility
(repeat chorus)
[C] [F] [C] [G]
[C] [F] [C]-[G] [C]
[C] [F] [C] [G]
(repeat chorus)
Yes I'm [C] having trouble [G] understanding [C] Jane
Yes I'm [C] having trouble [G] understanding [F] Jane
Understanding [C] Jane
WaltzingMatilda
[C][G][F][G7]
[C] Once a jolly [G] swagman [C] camped by a [F] billabong,
[C] Under the shade of a [G] Coolibah tree,
[C] And he sang as he [G] watched and [C] waited till his [F] billy boiled,
[C] Who'll come a Waltzing [G7] Matilda with [C] me.
[C] Waltzing Matilda, [F] Waltzing Matilda,
[C] Who’ll come a [F] Waltzing [C] Matilda with [G] me,
[C] And he sang as he [G] watched and [C] waited till his [F] billy boiled,
[C] Who'll come a Waltzing [G7] Matilda with [C] me.
[C] Down came a [G] jumbuck to [C] drink at that [F] billabong
[C] Up jumped the swagman and [G] grabbed him with glee,
[C] And he sang as he [G] shoved that [C] jumbuck in his [F] tucker bag
[C] You'll come a Waltzing [G7] Matilda with [C] me.
[C] Waltzing Matilda, [F] Waltzing Matilda,
[C] You'll come a [F] Waltzing [C] Matilda with [G] me,
[C] And he sang as he [G] shoved that [C] jumbuck in his [F] tucker bag
[C] You'll come a Waltzing [G7] Matilda with [C] me.
[C] Up rode the [G] squatter [C] mounted on his [F] thoroughbred
[C] Down came the troopers [G] One Two Three
[C] Whose that jolly [G] jumbuck [C] you've got in your [F] tucker bag
[C] You'll come a Waltzing [G7] Matilda with [C] me.
[C] Waltzing Matilda [F] Waltzing Matilda
[C] You'll come a [F] Waltzing [C] Matilda with [G] me
[C] Whose that jolly [G] jumbuck [C] you've got in your [F] tucker-bag
[C] You'll come a Waltzing [G7] Matilda with [C] me.
[C] Up jumped the [G] swagman [C] sprang in to the [F] billabong
[C] You'll never catch me [G] alive said he,
[C] And his ghost may be [G] heard as [C] you pass by that [F] billabong
[C] Who’ll come a Waltzing [G7] Matilda with [C] me.
[C] Waltzing Matilda [F] Waltzing Matilda
[C] Who’ll come a [F] Waltzing [C] Matilda with [G] me
[C] And his ghost may be [G] heard as [C] you pass by that [F] billabong
[C] Who’ll come a Waltzing [G7] Matilda with [C] me.
What a Wonderful World
Louis Armstrong
[F][C][Dm][Am][Gm][A7][Bb]
I see [F] trees of [C] green, [Dm] red roses, [Am] too,
[Gm] I see them [F] bloom, [A7] for me and [Dm] you
And I [Bb] think to myself
[C] What a wonderful [F] world.
I see [F] skies of [C] blue, and [Dm] clouds of [Am] white,
[Gm] The bright blessed [F] day, the [A7] dark sacred [Dm] night
And I [Bb] think to myself
[C] What a wonderful [F] world.
The [C] colors of the rainbow, so [F] pretty in the sky,
Are [C] also on the faces of [F] people going by.
I see [Dm] friends shaking [Am] hands, sayin', "[Dm] How do you [Am] do?"
[Dm] They're really [Am] sayin', "[Bb] I love [C] you."
I hear [F] babies [C] cryin'. I [Dm] watch them [Am] grow.
[Gm] They'll learn much [F] more than [A7] I'll ever [Dm] know
And I [Bb] think to myself
[C] What a wonderful [F] world.
Yes I [Bb] think to myself
[C] What a wonderful [F] world.
What am I doing Hanging ‘Round?
[D][A7][G][C][Em][D7][Am7][B][Eb]
Mike Nesmith
[D] Just a loud-mouthed Yankee, I went [A7] down to Mexico [D]
I didn't have much time to spend, [A7] about a week or [D] so,
Then I [G] lightly took ad[C]vantage of a [G] girl who loved me [C] so.
But I [G] found myself [Em] a-thinkin' when my [C] time …
Had [G] come … to [D] go [A7] [D7]
[G] What am I [Em] doin' hangin' [Am7] 'round?
[B] I should be on that train and [C] gone
[Eb] I should be ridin' on that [G] train to San [Em] Anton'
[Am7] What am I [D] doin' hangin' [G] 'round?
She [D] took me to the garden and we [A7] took a little walk [D]
I didn't know much Spanish and there [A7] was no time for [D] talk
Then she [G] told me that she [C] loved me, not with words [G] but with a [C] kiss
And [G] like a fool, I [Em] kept on thinkin' [C] of a train …
I [G] could not [D] miss [A7]
[G] What am I [Em] doin' hangin' [Am7] 'round?
[B] I should be on that train and [C] gone
[Eb] I should be ridin' on that [G] train to San [Em] Anton'
[Am7] What am I [D] doin' hangin' [G] 'round?
Well, it's [D] been a year or so, and I [A7] wanna go back again [D]
And if I get the money, well, I'll [A7] ride the same old [D] train
But I [G] guess your chances [C] come but once, and [G] boy, I sure missed [C] mine
And [G] still I can't stop [Em] thinkin' when I [C] hear …
Some [G] whistle … [D] cryin' [A7] [D7]
[G] What am I [Em] doin' hangin' [Am7] 'round?
[B] I should be on that train and [C] gone
[Eb] I should be ridin' on that [G] train to San [Em] Anton'
[Am7] What am I [D] doin' hangin' [G] 'round?
[G] What am I [Em] doin' hangin' [Am7] 'round?
[B] I should be on that train and [C] gone
[Eb] I should be ridin' on that [G] train to San [Em] Anton'
[Am7] What am I [D] doin' hangin' [G] 'round?

Windmills of Your Mind
(chords: all of them)
Round, like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning, on an ever spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain, or a carnival bal-loon
Like a carousel that's turning, running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple, whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind.
Like a tunnel that you follow to a tunnel of its own
Down a hollow to a cavern where the sun has never shown
Like a door that keeps re-volving in a half-forgotten dream,
Or the ripples from a pebble someone tosses in a stream
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes of its face
p. 2 Windmills of Your Mind
And the world is like an apple, whirling silently in space,
Like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind
Keys that jingle in your pocket, words that jangle in your head
Why did summer go so quickly, was it something that you said?
Lovers walk along the shore, leave their footprints in the sand
Is the sound of distant drumming just the fingers of your hand?
Pictures hanging in a hallway and the fragment of a song
Half-remembered names and faces, but to whom do they be-long?
When you knew that it was over you were suddenly a-ware
That the autumn leaves were turning to the color of her hair
A circle in a spiral, a wheel within a wheel, never ending or beginning, on an ever spinning reel
As the images un-wind, like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind
As the images un-wind, like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind
