We have established target plans for these students by setting achievable goals and actions to support them. We review the student’s progress against the goals fortnightly as a staff and have some excellent discussions and problem solving as a team. This week I have been analysing the data from the last 6 months to establish our progress. I want to share some of it with you. All the students on our targeted lists have made accelerated progress. Students who have only achieved two or three reading levels on average each year they have been at school have progressed through 6 levels in 6 months! Other students who have been working on the same maths stage for nearly two years have gone up a maths stage in 6 months! This is accelerated progress and we are proud of it. We often hear about National Standards and children working below and well below these Ministry set standards but what you don’t hear about is the hard work the teachers are putting in to progress these students. They may not be at National Standards but they have accelerated their learning beyond anything they have done before. The results are a testament to the dedication and perseverance put in by the teachers and support staff at this school. Well done to Jenny, Nicole, Calum, Marilyn, Glenda and Robyn. Pet Day will be held on Wednesday 22nd October this year. We have a student committee who organise and run this day and Year 4-8 students can apply for a position on the Pet Day Committee.
