Christian Stewardship
Your Lenten generosity has enabled our parish to contribute to many charities that help those in
need. They include but are not limited to Saint Francis Inn, Saint John’s Hospice, Mercy Hospice,
Doylestown Fish, Meals on Wheels of Central Bucks, The Ann Silverman Free Clinic, Blessed
Margaret Home for Crisis Pregnancy and the Father John Davids Memorial Fund for Prison Ministry.
Thank you for making a Lenten contribution to those most in need.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
April 27, 2014
Canonization of Pope John XXIII
Canonization of Pope John Paul II
COMMUNION UNDER
BOTH FORMS
1. May 4, 2014 - 12 Noon
2. May 11, 2014 - 9:00AM
Pope John Paul II officially designated the
first Sunday after Easter as Divine Mercy
Sunday. Jesus revealed to Sister Faustina
that on that day a person’s sins would be
forgiven and the temporal punishment
associated with them if certain conditions are
fulfilled.
1)Place complete trust in God’s Mercy
2) Go to Confession-preferably before that Sunday
3) Receive Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday
4)Respect the image of the Most Merciful Savior.(A picture
will be displayed on the side altar on the day).
5)Be merciful to others by your actions, words and
prayers.
DIVINE MERCY NOVENA: The Divine Mercy Novena allows
one to more fully experience the mercy that Jesus extends to
all. The novena begins on Good Friday and can be said
privately. There is one short prayer for each of the nine days
and the Divine Mercy chaplet should be said at the same time.
Pamphlets with the novena and the chaplet will be at each
entrance of the Church.

Second Sunday of Easter
April 27, 2014
In the Gospel today, Jesus stands in the midst of us
and says: “Peace be with ;you!” During Mass we
turn to each other and say “Peace be with you”
As you put your gift into the St. Vincent de Paul
box you say “Peace be with you” to those who
are poor and hungry.
May they rest in peace

A VOICE AGAINST VIOLENCE
Please join us on Monday, May 5th at St. Mary’s Hall ,
when the Peace and Justice ministry welcomes Julie
Dugery from the Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA),
who will speak about this important support service for
victims of sexual assault and other serious crimes.
NOVA, which was established in 1974 by a group of
community volunteers, serves survivors of crime in Bucks
County, a community where crime can often seem to be
something that happens somewhere else. Unfortunately,
that’s not the case. The truth around us is that all men, all
women, can be touched by crime. Yet NOVA was
founded on the idea that we can ultimately achieve a
society free of violence, one that promotes respect for the
diversity and dignity of all people, by being a voice
against violence. To that end, NOVA offers short-term
solutions to its clients—a 24 hour, toll-free support
hotline, counseling and a companion who will accompany
them to both the emergency room and the courtroom —
as well as longer term support through advocacy,
training, community education, and innovative prevention
programs.
Ms Dugery, the coordinator of volunteers and community
outreach for NOVA, will provide an overview of the
agency and its free and confidential services to local
victims of crime. She’ll also talk about special initiatives
like the NOVA Thrift Shop and the Bucks County
Children’s Advocacy Center, and she’ll outline the many
volunteer opportunities that the agency provides.
Please join us in breaking the silence.
Monday, May 5th, 7:00PM at St. Mary’s Hall.
Refreshments will be served. For further information, call:

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
Will you Trust in Jesus?
On this Divine Mercy Sunday, let’s contemplate St. Faustina’s
message from Jesus...that He longs for us, that He suffers
when we don’t accept His mercy and forgiveness. Check out
the resources in our Resource display in the vestibule today:
Catholic speakers on CD, books by some of the most engaging
Catholic authors, short booklets on a wide variety of
topics...there’s something for everyone. This is an easy way to
get to know Christ! Let the Holy Spirit guide you to choose the
one perfect resource for you...and don’t forget to share with
friends and family! Your small donation helps to cover the cost
of these materials.
Life is changed not taken away.

How can you teach children the importance and
the joy of giving? It is impossible to be grateful
and unhappy at the same time. As we count our
blessings we naturally find a sense of peace
and contentment. Children learn that they are
called to give back something to God. They also
learn that they must let go of some of their own
wants. Stewardship teaches children the
difference between needs and wants. Children
learn to concentrate on their blessings rather
than on what they want. The idea of the
children’s envelopes is not to raise more money
but to teach children the joys of giving and
helping. Thus, it is more important that children
give a quarter from their own bank than $5 from
a parent’s wallet. Children’s envelopes also
encourage kids to share talent - a good deed or
a prayer they have written - or to write down
ways they have been good stewards.
