You may be the perfect fit for the PACE Bursary Awards.
PACE members, their children and grandchildren,
who are planning to attend university or college in
the fall, are eligible to apply for up to $2,000 to help
with education costs! Deadline for applications is
June 27, 2014. Don’t wait – go online today at
www.pacecu.ca and download the simple application
form. Last year, 124 PACE members were awarded
bursaries and this year you could be one of them!
Always investigate and apply for other relevant

ARE YOU
WATCHING
LESS TV?
Study after study tells us that television viewing hours are significantly lower
each year. All age groups are affected, but particularly those 13 to 24. Is it
true or simply a marketing ploy to shift advertising dollars to non-mainstream
avenues? Start with you. Analyze your viewing sources – television,
smartphone, tablet, PC, gaming console and streaming services. Are you
watching at home or on a mobile device? It is highly possible live TV hours
are down, but what do the real numbers say? Check out details on our
website and see how “typical” Canadian viewers are getting their content.

Real
or CGI?
Can you tell when a movie producer
has used Computer Generated Imaging
(CGI) over real stunts, actors, animals,
or situations? In movies made as
few as 10 years ago it was often
embarrassingly obvious, but advanced
techniques now make it hard to tell.
Producer Chris Nolan dropped a real
plane from the sky in The Dark Knight
Rises, but Planet of the Apes needed
gorillas with facial expressions, so
that was a great candidate for CGI.
When an effect is impossible or takes
place in a nonexistent place,
chances are it’s CGI. A
train smashing through
a wall? Could go either
way! Want to see which
favourite movie
stunts are real and
which are CGI? Check
out our website.
