An important Reminder:
Recently I asked Deacon Frank
McGuiness, a retired NYPD Detective and currently chief of security for the Diocese to visit
the Parish Center and evaluate our security arrangements.
As per his recommendation, we will be
making some simple changes that will minimally
impact visitors to the Msgr. Mattei Parish Center
and Msgr. Goggin Hall. As before, during normal hours one must enter the Parish Center
though the Main Entrance ( the door between
the two shrines, Mother Teresa and Padre
Pio) NOT the Gym Entrance.
Then one will turn right to the “front door” from
the breezeway into the office area. The door will
be closed. There will be a button and a speaker
box. The receptionist will “buzz” you in. You will
then check in with the receptionist.
There will also be a standard lunch hour
during which the Parish Center will be closed.
Msgr. Goggin Hall will be locked when not in
use. Access to the church will be unaffected by
these changes and the Msgr. Mattei Parish
Center will still be open for Religious Education,
other programs, Holy Hours as before.

July 12-Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time:
In the Gospel today we see how Jesus sent
his Apostles out two by two. From the beginning of the Society of St. Vincent de
Paul, members visit in pairs “two by two”, those who are
poor and needy in their homes. It is there, in the family
setting, that Vincentians listen, offer humble advice, and
render assistance.
Have you considered answering the call to help serve
the poor by joining the Society of St. Vincent de Paul?

Catholics For Freedom of Religion
"Regardless of what a narrow majority of the Supreme Court may declare at this moment in history, the nature of the human person and marriage remains unchanged and unchangeable." Archbishop Joseph Kurtz, Louisville, KY, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic
Bishops (USCCB), June 26, 2015
A Warning from Canada:
"I want to warn America to expect severe erosion of First Amendment freedoms (from) the U.S. Supreme Court
mandate (of) same-sex marriage. The consequences have played out in Canada for ten years now, and they are
truly Orwellian in nature and scope. In Canada, freedoms of speech, press, religion, and association have suffered greatly due to government pressure." (thepublicdiscourse.com, 4/24/15)
(CFFR) Defending Religious Freedom:
"As the battle for protecting religious liberty in the U.S. advances in the wake of the Supreme Court decision
redefining marriage, a Catholic grassroots organization dedicated to promoting and defending religious liberty in
the U.S. has expanded its reach and drawn the attention of the U.S. bishops." (ncregister.com, 6/29/15)
"The Diocese of Rockville Centre, N.Y., and CFFR cosponsored the June 25 Fortnight For Freedom Rally for
Religious Freedom, where Professor Robert George, chairman of the U.S. commission on International Religious Freedom, delivered the keynote address. The event drew more than 700 participants, including representatives of the Mormon and Evangelical churches."
"It is critically important that America's Catholics heed our bishops' call for activism in defense of religious liberty," said Prof. George (ncregister.com, 6/29/15)
"Jesus Christ, with great love, taught unambiguously that from the beginning marriage is the lifelong union of
one man and one woman. As Catholic bishops, we follow our Lord and will continue to teach and act according
to this truth." Archbishop Joseph Kurtz, USCCB

Please join the millions
worldwide who pray each
day for the monthly prayer
intentions of Pope Francis.
Since 1844 the members
of the Apostleship of Prayer have offered themselves to God for the salvation of souls, the
Church, the intentions of
all Apostles of Prayer, and
the intentions of the Pope.
DAILY OFFERING PRAYER
God, our Father, I offer You my day. I offer
You my prayers, thoughts, words, actions,
joys, and sufferings in union with Your Son
Jesus' Heart, who continues to offer Himself
in the Eucharist for the salvation of the world.
May the Holy Spirit, who guided Jesus, be
my guide and my strength today so that I may
witness to Your love. With Mary, the mother
of our Lord and of the Church, I pray especially for this month's intentions as proposed
by the Holy Father. Amen .

Thank you
Several months ago, I published a request in our Bulletin for donations of new $3 items or baskets for
the Sisters of St. Dominic luncheon. This luncheon benefits our many very sick and elderly Sisters.
We have 3 Sisters who are 100 and one who will be 100 in October. We also have many, many Sisters who need nursing and medical care. These Sisters have been exemplary role models to us and
we love them dearly.
Your great generosity will help them. Please know how grateful I am to you and to the many Parishioners who came to the Luncheon. Truly, I often say to people, some of the nicest people and families in the world are at St. Matthew’s !!
Our Sisters pray for our benefactors every day so you will be remembered in our daily prayers.
Thank you and God bless you. Sr. Kay McCarthy
Feed the Poor Projects –
The New Pentecost Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order and The St. Vincent de Paul Society to hold their annual Family Fair for the homeless families with children living at the HELP
shelter in North Bellport on August 29, 2015. Free franks, soda, ice cream and pony rides make for a fun day
for the kids. New back packs filled with school supplies donated by the United Jewish Appeal are given to all.
Slightly used or new clothes along with slightly used or new toys and books are donated to help the families prepare for school. The families look forward to this great event. Any donations to help with the fair would be appreciated.
The Feed the Poor group also goes into New York City on the third Saturday of every month to serve hundreds
of hot and boxed meals to the many men in the Belleview shelter. If you would like to join us by going to the city
or donating hot homemade foods, toiletries and men’s clothing. Contact Frank Harnos at 499-0074 for more
information.
