Paterson
Blockfile
provides all the convenience

Each blockfile
has four drawers and will
accommodate 400 card
mounts or up to 200
glass
mounted
slides
(depending on the thickness). Each drawer has slots in the front to
accommodate an index card identifying the general contents, and the
inside of each drawer is divided with three adjustable plastic index spacers
on which group titles can be written in ink or pencil. Extra spacers for
closer indexing can be obtained if required.
Group filing in the Paterson Blockfile
provides an ideal method of filing for the
amateur who does not want the labour
involved in filing and indexing each slide
separately in the ordinary grooved type of
box, or for the professional who wants to be
able to file a large number of slides in the
smallest possible space and yet to be able to
locate any slide readily when required.
Each Blockfile is a c o m p l e t e u n i t in
itself, or a number of Blockfiles may be
stacked together to form a complete storage-index system for any number
of transparencies. It is dust-proof and the compact size—no larger in
height or depth than a book—enables individual units to be stored on an
ordinary bookshelf where their fine finish and appearance make them a
handsome addition to any home library

TRANSPARENCY FRAMES
Packed in boxes of 20, Paterson
new type Frames incorporate entirely new features, giving complete
protection to the transparency from
dust or damage.
N e w one-piece construction.
The entire frame is in one piece,
consisting of an envelope with a
hinged side portion. In use the
glasses are removed from the envelope by opening the hinged portion,
and the transparency inserted between them. It is then only necessary
to re-insert the glasses in the frame
and snap shut the hinged portion.
The transparency is automatically
centred in the frame. The former
difficulties of holding the glasses and
film in alignment and awkward fitting
together of separate frame parts is
entirely eliminated.
N e w Spring-Back. This important
new advance in frame design holds
the transparency and glasses pressed
together flat and dust-free at all
times.
No other frame possesses
this feature, which automatically
compensates for variations in film thickness and
greatly reduces the incidence of Newton's Rings.
The accurate register of the film and glasses against
one side of the frame makes them specially
suitable for use in automatic projectors, when
re-focusing during projection is to be avoided.
Built-in Spotting Feature. A new idea for
instant correct spotting of the slide during
mounting.
Construction in heat resistant cream plastic
with liberal size title panel.

ILLUMINATED
2" x 2" 5x5 cm. NEW TYPE
TRANSPARENCY VIEWER
PATERSON 5x5 cm. SLIDE VIEWER
AND CONTAINER
Scarcely larger than a box of matches, this Viewer, without any
projections whatever, slips easily into the pocket. A unique feature
is that 20 card mounted slides (or a smaller number glass mounted) can
be carried inside the Viewer body—always ready for showing. Extra
large magnification by optically worked glass lens. Grainless opal diffusing
screen. Made in a choice of three beautiful colours (in shock resistant
plastic) Maroon, Pastel Green
and Smoke Grey.
PATERSON
ILLUMINATING
ATTACHMENT
For those who already have a Paterson Viewer, the
Illuminating attachment may be purchased as a separate item.
Price
This fine Viewer has been completely re-styled in new colours and design
making it even more attractive than before; beautifully finished in pastel
blue and white with red button control. All the features which have made
this Viewer world-famous have been retained.
PATERSON SLIDE VIEWER & CONTAINER
WITH ILLUMINATING ATTACHMENT
It provides a quality of image hitherto only found in expensive table
models —yet its price is only a fraction of their cost. The Viewer is finished
in highest quality shock resistant plastic, and styled in the form of a slim box
which slips easily into the pocket or handbag.
On opening the lid, the viewing lens springs automatically into position
and the Viewer is ready for instant use. Slides are easily placed on an
illuminated platform, lighting up by pressure on a conveniently placed
control knob.
When closed the lens, illumination control and all other parts are
completely enclosed w i t h i n the box and are thus effectively protected
from dust or damage. NO O T H E R POCKET VIEWER HAS T H I S
FEATURE.
The optically worked glass lens is the full size normally provided on
table model viewers. Precision workmanship gives extra large magnification
without distortion. The full size square lens enables horizontal or upright
views to be examined w i t h o u t t u r n i n g the Viewer sideways as is
necessary for o t h e r pocket viewers, and permits comfortable viewing
by one or more people with both eyes. Illumination is provided by two
" U 1 1 " type battery cells, (available anywhere). A specially designed
reflector in conjunction with an opal perspex screen gives beautifully even
illumination and grainless background.
In addition to amateur use, the Paterson Illuminated Viewer is widely
used by business representatives for showing colour pictures of their
products.
The above Viewer is also available complete with illuminating attachment
making it independent of any external light source. Illumination is provided
by two pen-type torch batteries (available anywhere). The attachment
is instantly removable for daylight viewing and is made in attractive Chinese
Jade colour to tone with any of the three Viewer colours.

(Patent pending)
A REALLY
NEW
STORAGE
SYSTEM
Each Box holds 100 Slides.
50 on each side of the box,
accessible on opening one or other of the two lids. The slides on each
side are interleaved, making the box extremely compact yet
permitting extra wide spacing for easy insertion and removal.
New "Instant Index"
S y s t e m . Each slide has a
sloping title plate of plastic
immediately
behind
it
on
which the title can be written
(or erased for re-use).
All
titles are visible together and
no separate index is necessary.
This unique title system makes
instant reference to any slide
the easiest ever.
Easy I n s e r t i o n and
Removal of Slides.
Extra wide spacing between
slides
makes
insertion
and
removal extremely easy
It is simply necessary to place the edge of the slide on its title when
it automatically drops down in the correct grooves. Slides cannot
get into the wrong grooves nor get "crossed" in the grooves and all
fumbling is eliminated even in semi-darkness as when projecting.
Ideal f o r Shelf Storage.
Compact size enables the boxes
to be stacked on an ordinary shelf, forming a handsome storage system
which can be added to as your slide collection increases. Grooves on
the front of the box permit the insertion of an index card to identify the
general contents.
I d e a l f o r C a r r y i n g . Handsomely finished in two-tone green
with a red handle, it is ideal for carrying, transporting for lectures or
for giving a slide show to your friends. Constructed of the highest impact
plastic, extremely resistant to shock OP breakage the Paterson " 1 0 0 "
will store your slides safely indefinitely.
PATERSON
MAJORVIEW
"3 5" VIEWER
The Paterson Majorview " 3 5 " Viewer provides the ultimate in
viewing comfort and magnification for the man who insists upon the best.
Featuring a " T W O STAGE M A G N I F I C A T I O N S Y S T E M " , the
slide is first magnified up to the usual size picture of table viewers and
the enlarged image is then magnified again by a second lens giving the
highest magnification of any viewer and the largest and brightest picture yet
obtainable.
Extra large optically worked viewing lenses give full picture coverage
for all 2 x 2 in.—5 x 5 cm. — slides including Kodak Bantam and the
new 4 x 4 cm. size, such as the Rollei Super Slides, without turning
the viewer sideways f o r upright pictures as is necessary with other
viewers.
Illumination is provided by two extra large capacity " U 2 " batteries
(obtainable anywhere). Illumination control is automatic. Simply insert
the slide and press it down lightly when the Viewer illuminates.
A further unique feature is the ingeniously designed D U A L - P U R P O S E
L E N S C A P which protects the surface of the lens when carrying and
also forms a convenient stand instantly converting the Viewer into a table
model, correctly angled for comfortable viewing. (See illustration.)

A clever Paterson idea is the translucent side walls of the printer
which emit a yellow light, adequate and safe for working—no special
darkroom lamp is required. The printing window remains illuminated
with non-actinic light between exposures, facilitating accurate positioning
of negative, mask and paper.
Being mains operated, the light remains constant and is not liable to
battery fluctuation.
Introduced in response to the demand by careful workers for a
thermometer of known accuracy, each is sold with a G U A R A N T E E

DEVELOPING TANK
PATERSON 35mm. MODEL II
DEVELOPING
TANK
A l l Paterson tanks are finished
in mirror-surface polystyrene
for utmost resistance to solutions. A l l Paterson Tanks nave
transparent spirals for colour
processing
For film sizes 120/620, 127 (V.P.), 20 exposures 35 mm. (or Kodak
Bantam).
Ever since their first appearance Paterson Tanks have led the field in the
introduction of new features for improving the ease and efficiency of
processing.
The Major II model gives the greatest economy of solution for processing
the popular roll-film sizes or a 20-exposure length 35 mm. film. Adjustable
Self-Loading Spiral, Inversion Agitation and Central Rapid Pouring are all
incorporated.
Solution required: 120 or 620 film— 10½ozs - 3 0 0 c c , 127 (V.P.) film
8ozs - 2 3 0 c c , 20 exposures 35 mm. (or Bantam) film 6½ ozs - 185cc
PATERSON DOUBLE AND TRIPLE
MAJOR II TANKS
These models have extra long tank bodies which accommodate two or
three spirals respectively. One or two spirals can be used in the Double
tank, while in the Triple tank, one, t w o or three spirals may be used The
arrangement of the spirals one
above the other makes the tanks
very economical. For example,
one 120/620 size film requires I0½
OZS.-300 c.c. solution, two films
require 21 ozs.-600 c.c., three
films require 30½ ozs.-865 c.c.
DOUBLE MAJOR II complete
with two spirals:
£2-7-6
TRIPLE
MAJOR II complete
with three spirals:
Designed exclusively for the 35 mm. worker, it is the only tank
which completely eliminates difficulties in loading a full 35 mm. film
length. Simply insert the end of the film into the spiral entrance, then
oscillate the two halves of the spiral. Patented ratchet teeth, engaging
in the film perforations, draw the whole length of film into the spiral without
difficulty or jamming. This tank is specially recommended for use with
cameras such as the Leica, as it loads without difficulty films which have
been straightened by being wound on the camera take-up spool in the
reverse direction to their normal curl.
Solution required for full length film is only 8½ozs — 2 4 5 c c
PATERSON 35mm. MODEL II
TRIPLE
TANK
Holds up to three spirals for simultaneous processing of one to three
films. Spirals are loaded in the usual way, and then locked together to form
a column by simply pushing the top of one
spiral into the bottom of the next. Ordinary
or inversion agitation may be used, as on the
standard model. Solutions required: 1 film
8½ozs — 2 4 5 c c , 2 films 18ozs — 5 1 0 c c , 3
films 26ozs — 7 4 0 c c

A new accessory which is suitable for use with
all Paterson model II tanks, i.e. Paterson 35 II,
Major II, Universal II and the Double and Triple
model tanks. The accessory consists of a length
of rubber hose with a special tap adaptor and a
rigid end portion which fits into the position of
the agitator rod in the tank. In use the agitator
rod of the tank is removed and the rigid end
portion pushed into the tank to grip the bottom
of the spiral in the same way as the agitator rod.
This forms a definite seal at the base of the tank
so that the washing water is forced under positive
pressure into the bottom of the tank and circulates
upwards. Washing can be carried out either
with the lid of the tank in position or with the
lid removed.
A special tap adaptor fits the usual size of domestic
tap and grips the tap firmly without blowing off
even when under pressure.
PATERSON UNIVERSAL
DEVELOPING TANK
II
For all sizes of film from full length 35 mm. to 116 roll film.
By reason of its universal adaptability to all film sizes this model is
popular favourite in the famous Paterson range.
The exclusive Paterson features of Self-loading Spiral, Inversion Agitation
and Central Rapid Pouring are all incorporated.
A new type stainless steel clip instantly adjusts the spiral to any size
of film.
The transparent spiral enables colour film to be re-exposed during
processing without removal, thus eliminating the difficulties of reloading
wet film.
Wide thermometer entry permits easy temperature readings during
development.
The amounts of solution required for the various film sizes are as follows:
35 mm. (or Bantam) 11ozs — 3 1 0 c c , 127 (V.P.) 14ozs — 4 0 0 c c , 120 or
620 17½ozs — 5 0 0 c c , 116 or 616 I9½ozs — 5 5 0 c c
SOLUTION ECONOMISERS
made exclusively for the Paterson Universal Tank
Solution economisers consist of
a cylinder with a hollow core
which slips over the central column
of the spiral and takes up the
space which would normally be
filled by unused solution.
Made
in two sizes, for use with 127
(V.P.) film or 120-620 films, each
size effects a saving of
3½ozs — 100cc solution on
each film processed.

Universal adaptability is one of the special features of the Paterson
Lamp.
The illustrations below show how (I) it stands on the workbench,
(2) it hangs on the wall, (3) it hangs from the ceiling.
Unlike other darkroom lamps, which are designed only as covers
for an existing pendant lamp, the Paterson Safelight Lamp is complete
in itself with its own lampholder, flex and coloured screw-on cover
which forms the safelight. Safelights are
available in Orange or Red, and are interchangeable.
The O r a n g e safelight is suitable for
all papers, contact (gaslight), bromide
or chlorobromide, and is recommended
for printing or enlarging as it gives the
brightest illumination.
The Red safelight is suitable for
handling Orthochromatic films.
It is
also suitable for all papers, though the
illumination is not so bright as with the
Orange safelight.
A light-trapped ventilation system
in the base allows circulation of air
to prevent overheating of the lamp when in use.
A standard 15-watt bulb (obtainable from any electrical dealer) is used
with the safelight.
The Paterson Safelight Lamp is modern in design and is beautifully
finished in durable highest grade plastic
