The SPH-5 ® is the world’s leading helicopter helmet, developed by Gentex,
combining superior protection and comfort in a lightweight product. Its versatile
design accommodates a wide range of aftermarket upgrades to meet your
evolving flight needs.
These features attest to a variant of the SPH-5 being selected and used by the
United States Coast Guard since 1991. The SPH-5 is also widely in use by
emergency medical personnel, firefighters, and many United States
government agencies and commercial pilots. The SPH-5 is also the most
commonly used helmet in the inter-national marketplace.
The HGU-84/P Dual Visor Helmet Assembly is designed by Gentex for the
U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. The military aircrew helmet provides
superior protection and comfort in a lightweight, low-profile design. The rotary
wing helmet integrates the latest advances in technology to provide comfort, stability, retention, and protection.
The HGU-84/P helmet may be integrated with MBU-12/P oxygen mask series, MCK-3/P CBR mask, AN/AVS-6 Night
Vision Goggles, EDU-1/P Spectacles, Gentex wire or flex boom microphones, Gentex Maxillofacial Shield (MFS) and X
Liner ® helmet comfort liner by Gentex.
HGU-84/P Standard Configuration:
Shell: rigid Graphlon ® composite made of pressure molded, laminated graphite
and nylon.
Liner: styrofoam energy absorbing liner is primary impact attenuation medium. A
preformed Thermoplastic Liner (TPL ®) provides an easily fitted, light weight,
comfortable custom liner. The TPL consists of multiple layers of thermo plastic
which conform to the contour of the head with a removable/launderable cover.
Integrated Chin/Nape Strap: A unique, one-piece assembly threaded through
the helmet and adjusts at the chin strap. Cross straps threaded through the nape
strap pad adjust simultaneously with the chin strap to provide a snug, comfortable
fit.
Lightweight Dual Visor Assembly: The assembly incorporates both an inner
clear visor and an outer neutral gray visor, which attach to each other and to the
helmet by means of snap fasteners. The lenses are trimmed to conform to the
MBU-12/P oxygen mask configuration. Clear, gradient, high contrast and laser attenuating visors are available as spares.
