Buds like little white pearls open to fragrant clusters of
white mockorange-like flowers in early summer;
golden-lime leaves glow in the garden and steal the show
the rest of the season
Ornamental Features:
Chardonnay Pearls Deutzia is draped in stunning
racemes of lightly-scented white trumpet-shaped flowers
along the branches from mid to late spring, which emerge
from distinctive white flower buds. It has attractive
chartreuse foliage which emerges gold in spring. The
serrated pointy leaves are ornamentally significant but do
not develop any appreciable fall color. The fruit is not
ornamentally significant.
Landscape Attributes:
Chardonnay Pearls Deutzia is a multi-stemmed
deciduous shrub with a more or less rounded form. Its
relatively fine texture sets it apart from other landscape
plants with less refined foliage.
This is a high maintenance shrub that will require regular
care and upkeep, and should only be pruned after
flowering to avoid removing any of the current season's
flowers. It has no significant negative characteristics.

Plant Characteristics:
Chardonnay Pearls Deutzia will grow to be about 3 feet
tall at maturity, with a spread of 24 inches. It tends to fill
out right to the ground and therefore doesn't necessarily
require facer plants in front. It grows at a slow rate, and
under ideal conditions can be expected to live for
approximately 20 years.
This shrub should only be grown in full sunlight. It is very
adaptable to both dry and moist locations, and should do
just fine under typical garden conditions. It is not
particular as to soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of
urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city
environments.
This is a selected variety of a species not originally from
North America.
